I reverse pranked the Chinese American prankster @imvincentgao who has millions of followers on TikTok and CZcams. He likes to go up to random non-Chinese people and speak to them in Chinese, with very awkward results. I found out about this guy because a few days ago, totally coincidentally, he tried to prank my brother at a park in New York, but was shocked when my brother actually replied in Chinese. I wanted to get revenge on Vincent so I decided to prank him by speaking Chinese myself. I knew that he hadn’t seen my videos and wouldn’t recognize me, because my brother mentioned something about me to him and he didn’t seem to know who I was. And the perfect opportunity came one day when I saw on his Instagram story that he was making videos in Washington Square Park which is not far from where I live. So I grabbed my camera and biked over there immediately and…sure enough, there he was! Time to get my revenge, on camera!

Make a prank video together. Ari speaks Chinese and translates back to Vincent in English in, say, a restaurant or store, pretending Vincent only speaks English.

This is fascinating because you basically make the same content as him but in reverse. He talks to people expecting they wont speak his language, and you talk to people who assume you don't speak their language.

In reviewing the video, maybe after the initial encounter, they stopped the video and then starting then was it scripted...but the invite to eat wasn't scripted I don't think?? So maybe it's partially scripted

I love that you two made friends. He's like your reverse in terms of content. He surprises people with a language they don't understand. You suprise people by understanding their language. You two should absolutely collaborate.

My brother was a translator for the US Air Force. He could speak flawless Korean. He did not look Korean. In fact, he looked like a 6'2" Leave It To Beaver double. He tells the story of how he and a buddy were out walking around Seoul, and some native girls started talking abour their hair cuts. After they had completely talked their way into embarrassment my brother and his friend spoke up in perfect Korean to thank them for their kind words. He said they got red with embarrassment and just giggled.

The fact that you admit at the end of the video that it was staged shows you're a man of much integrity. As if you weren't awesome enough as it is!
But how is it possible that Vincent didn't know who Ari is? Everyone knows who Xiaoma is.

I'm at 2:08 and already thought it was fake, I just came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed the cues. Him coming up to Ari directly and not really being that surprised was weird.

Wow, this was cool. Usually the pranksters are obnoxious, or really bad at reading the room.. but you can tell Vincent’s a good dude. He had to pause and talk for a little while, even the hang out and grabbing food together, that was just really dope

Yes, it felt staged all through and I feel like there's no way these two wouldn't know of each other. But I feel it says something about this kind of clickbaity-ness that they felt they had to bury that information at the literal end of the video rather than at the beginning.

I love this video VERY VERY much for two reasons :
1 - It's very funny, and very well made !
2 - You guys are VERY honest about the fact that it's staged, and I appreciate A LOT how you are considering us as normal functioning people, and not as dumb cows to milk like others !

I remember an American in London pretending he couldn't understand English people, like they were speaking a completely different language. It was pretty funny watching the English people get so annoyed and frustrated.
This is top tier content for both channels. You 100% had me convinced this was legit. Props for admitting it was staged, there is so much fake nonsense out there that is obviously staged but people gobble it up commenting how incredible it is under the belief that it's real.
I believe being honest with your viewers is priceless.

Yeah, CZcams "pranksters" have a a really bad rap usually, but he seems nice and it's really all about the type of prank they do.

I appreciate that he admitted it was staged, but I feel like the fact they put it at the last few seconds of the video after the end card was intentional. They seemed to want to convince people it’s real, and that doesn’t sit well with me.

I really commend you for your wonderful and educational videos! What a loss for us, that more people, including me, won't take the time to at least see if we might be able to learn enough and be able to converse in another language. I belong to the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, and although I'm able to sing in my Naitive language, I still can barely decipher most conversations. Kudos to you, and for another super video!
