  • Not sure what you need? Let’s give a little clarification.
Basically, if you plan to run suppressed on a 10.3 inch 5.56 NATO barrel all the time or even a majority of the time, a Crane Spec (.070 gas port) may be for you. An Andro Corp Crane Spec barrel has a smaller gas port than our standard 10.3 Inch 5.56 NATO barrel (.078).
Adding a suppressor creates more back pressure. By running a standard .078 gas port, you increase the total amount of gas that will be blown back into the firearm. The gas will exit the firearm through the ejection port and many crevices of the receiver and ultimately into the shooters face.
Running a Cranes Spec .070 barrel will reduce the overall amount of gas entering back into the gun and give the shooter a better experience.
This barrel is designed to be ran in conjunction with a suppressor. If ran without a suppressor, cyclability is not guaranteed.

Best decision I ever made was ditching my ridiculously overgassed 10.5 barrel for a 10.3 crane barrel. With the A5 buffer tube runs smooth with all of my cans. It was literally like going from Wild to Mild 🙂

i've been happy with my 070 10.3 with fsb. Its cool that you guys and BA are in Ocoee, FL. I lived in Ocoee for almost 10 years and went to West Orange HS in Winter Garden. Cheers!

When I was a Marine 2111 all my infantry weapons gages were calibrated at crane and all depo level maintenance of weapons was done there as well

Crane naval base in southern Indiana. Not too far from Bloomington (IU) and it is out in the boonies. Lot of training, r&d, and other hush hush stuff goes on here.

Good info. In your experience which hand guard is more comfortable to shoot heat wise? Quad rails or just the plastic carbine hand guard?

Is the gas port the only thing that is crane spec on your barrels? How about materials, lining, ect.?

What buffer weight are you running?

Well, I respectfully request that you stop doing bicep curls for a few hours and make another bad-assery"crane spec" barrel because 1.) I'm trying to buy one but 2.) You're all out bro...

I have an .70 SD 2021 CHF CL barrel on a radian lower mk4 rail surefire warcomp neutral in9.3 and with Geissele super 42 in an H2 with full power Mk262 , Speer gold dot (best home defense ammo) 75 grain soft Point and regular m855 ball and get a beautiful three to 4 o’clock ejection I wanted a barrel that I had accuracy and it will last I’ve also ran different Roscoe barrels also and if you’re looking for a decent barrel use them or blessed to give than edge Roscoe I know has the sauce pack where are you get your barrel your gas system where you get but I traded gas to the traded barrel and I traded bolt carrier group HPNPI tested and have zero issues from it runs Great and will have more longevity because you’re adding material to the barrel web Goldhammer forging you’re stretching the bathroom while maintaining the integrity of the barstock 4150 CMV but in less than 10 minutes time I swapped out the barrel and I don’t think it was a crane spec it was an Andro Corp. barrel but it came from what the gun started out as which was the halo with a 10 inch barrel but that older barrel definitely had a much bigger Gasport and the newer down defenses and I think it’s because it’s crane spec for the URG program possibly so I’m assuming all of their barrels are clean in spec now for military service because in the military there’s no anorexic ammo under powered ammo that’s one of the reasons I tell people hey shoot a few mags of your self-defense load and zero it with that specific round and if you’re shooting it with a suppressor shoot with the suppressor so your POI difference zero shift do you keep that RC2 on at night .. he don’t want to shoot a 10.3 indoors with no hearing protection it would suck but using full power ammo especially the MK 262-1 at least that’s what the packaging said was definitely a hot round and was spilling the brass out at around a little past 3 o’clock i’d say but after putting about 500 rounds through it after I put the gun completely back together after throwing in the barrel and changing the lower as I still have an Andro lower and I’ll probably use it for a RIs 2 14.5 and he was a keyhole lower but definitely do you want a heavier buffer system what is the weight is fine still try out the super 42 minute H one configuration and you will love the fact that you don’t get that cream cold sound in the buffer tube ends you get much more retention in the stream lying because I’m not gonna go into tensile strength or any of that but it’s very very strong 500 times stronger than your standard spring and we’re talking about it being ran full auto and runners for the mostly most of us my original buffer in spring next to it lost significant about the few thousand rounds I put through it before swapping in a super 42 braided wire buffer system it’s similar to the system on the MG 42 which had a very high cyclic rate so it’s one of the reasons I threw it in my MK 18 ish gun no it doesn’t have a RIS to rail for cloners I chose pieces that I like that go for myself
