    Jermaine was killing that Bass with that pic @2:57! That's amazing he learned how to play by ear at such a young age with the help of Legendary bass player James Jamerson! He learned from the best. Jermaine, Tito, Johnny, and Ronnie would sit for hours to master a song while Michael, Jackie and Marlon practice the steps. They were and still is big on the band sounded just like the record!

    I like these videos because it proves that the Jackson 5 played their own instruments. People often say that the Jacksons are no good because they don't play their own instruments and only just danced and sang. These guys were truly talented for their age and played their own instruments just like the Beatles did and this is back in the 70s. Even today many boy bands don't play their own instruments and the Jacksons sold $25,000,000, before Michael turned 13. Listen to Jamaine get down on the base guitar. This is a truly a boy band, teenagers.

      The Wizard Of Og Playing instruments isn't as hard as lead singing.. I play instruments and its a lot harder to dance and sing and keep time while learning a million words and moves. And entertain the crowd pretending to be happy when you're tired from touring and crowds. Little bitty MJ did all of this and was a pro at it. a true pro

    • @fortybreath
      @fortybreath Před 6 lety +3

      Patty Z: apparently, you don't play bass like Jermaine Jackson because the level of sophistication in this 16 year old's bass playing is ASTOUNDING. I have been playing bass professionally for 25 years, have toured the world with several huge acts and have played and sung on gold albums, movie soundtracks, television themes.....you name it.... and and I have never seen any kid play with the command that Jermaine had on the bass guitar. Not to mention he often sang lead while SIMULTANEOUSLY covering these incredibly difficult bass lines. Not to take anything anyway from Michael, whom we all knew was a genius, but Michael Jackson could NEVER have played the bass like that while singing lead. I've never seen anyone do it before or since. Jermaine was in a class all his own

    *Man they crushed Walk On...💯*
    My mom bought this album (Going Back To Indiana) for me when I was a kid. 100+ channels, 24 hour tv stations, and On Demand didn't exist. Plus I was only a few months young when this concert took place (Yes. Record stores existed & sold albums that were years old). So I had to listen to this album & imagine what the *entire* celebration was like (they did skits with athletes & entertainers on a different night. *edit* : I assume they were different nights).
    *The chance to enjoy things like this is when I am truly grateful for modern technology. Without it this right here would still be a fantasy for me. THANKS FOR SHARING*

    The Jackson 5 were the truth. I saw them during this period. They were real. They didn't have a stage full of extra dancers, or a bunch of grown men musicians playing the actual music, or a track running in the background, or a group of professional background singers doing the real harmony. Naw, these boys brought their own sound and their own choreography, with only two extra side musicians, who were just a few years older than them. The Jackson 5 were the genuine article.

Industry insiders at the time nicknamed him midget because they couldn't believe he was a kid performing the way he did.

    Definitely think the whole show should be released, i found it very strange (at first) that they did more covers than their actual hits but after viewing the full setlist for this venue, it makes sense now....." IWYB/ABC" was definitely right after "I Wanna Take You Higher" but was edited out. "I Found That Girl", "Who's Lovin' You", "Never Can Say Goodbye", "Mama's Pearl"... all missing from this special, the video to the whole set has to be gold i'm quite sure! i surely hope it all comes back to the surface

    So much talent for so young !
    ALL of them were professional weather playing instruments are singing and dancing abilities !
    ALL families have difficulties and struggles Once they grow up .
    But at the end of each day this family comes together and steps up for one another !
    That' is because of it strong father and mother !
    You can say whatever you want about joe . But he taught them if you want to be noticed you have to work at it everyday and be a professional !
    BACK then parenting was far different than it is today !
    Joe had boys and he kept a firm grip on them ! He did what people did back Then . I have to Give credit where credit is due !
    It EFFECTED MJ but only because he did not know how to understand his father . But had MJ let his Dad protect him , he'd be Alive today !!!!!
    Joe Loved him and he'd of fought the devil for him .
    Joe only fault is he felt like his son's forgot what he did For them .
    Well , joe it wasn't that They forgot it they' Simply wanted to be they're OWN men . I'm certain by now you have to realize that .
    MJ loved you he simply didn't know how to let you in to protect him with out oweing you !
    You have his children to see MJ parenting skills we're his . Simply realize it And understand it .
    MJ I'm certain would be smiling if you did !
    God bless All the Jackson's for allowing us into your Lives still today !

    Although it's irrelevant, Nadine Coyle of the UK Girl Group Girls Aloud was overwhelmed when she returned to Belfast, Ireland to do a Hometown Show. It was quite an achievement since she got kicked out of the Irish Popstars Group Six when she lied about her age. Six didn't make it but Girls Aloud would go on to be the most successful Group to come out of "Reality TV" in The UK. From 2002-2012 they had Four Number Ones, Twenty One Top Tens and Six Platinum Albums.

    Listen youngthinhoe the Osmond brothers were okay but they couldn't stand on the same stage as the Jackson 5 back in day they made them Osmond go and sing country and western can you dig it!

    • @mcclendonreport

      I remember the Osmonds well. Sure, they had talent, but we know that they were brought in to be the "sanitized and safe" version of the Jackson 5.

    I have to disagree with my man below ... " The Wizard ". I am a bass player,been one for over 40 years which means that I know the ... " Fret Board " , the neck of the bass. I bought the album after seeing this show and learned ALL of the songs on my bass.So unless you too can play the bass you wouldn't know. At the beginning of the show , if you're ... " Vigilant ", you'll spot Jermaine playing the bass with a ... " Pick " on the song ... " Stand ". Come on now ...! After " Stand " , the pick disappeared . WHY??!! You have to .... Pay Attention to catch stuff people ... you'll surprise yourself with what you can catch ....!! Just be ... " Vigilant ".

    Those two white people in the audience sure are holding each other tight. Stick out like a sore thumb.

      I think I get the humor, but the reality is that black folks don't bother or try to intimidate others in a setting where somebody other than us is the minority. Indeed, in my lifetime (I'm 58) we have tended to go out of our way to make others feel comfortable. Now I cant say the same when someone is in a comedic scene, I mean I've seen the shows on BET etc. But in my experience by and large we get along with folks.

    • @fostermac7170
      @fostermac7170 Před 10 lety +2

      I looked again. They did seem to be uncomfortable. I think that's one of those 'self-imposed' fears. Nobody in that audience was going to attack them or anything (save for maybe one of them young babes, if that white chick went after one of the Jackson 5!).

    • @FenderGreg
      @FenderGreg Před 10 lety +1

      Agree. They loved the band and were scared of the turbulent times. Would not be that way today.

    • @mcclendonreport
      @mcclendonreport Před 9 lety +2

      ***** They had no reason to worry. Not even then. The Jackson's were ambassadors of a love vibe. And they were the first young Black people I ever saw on TV.

      Yeah Michael is my agree. But I have to disagree and say that they looked scared, but there is not was for either of us to prove it either way. The Jackson's were a popular band, not a love cult or church organization. Who knows? Them.

    THIS IS WHERE MICHEAL BEAT ELVIS ANYTIME. ELVIS WAS NOT THIS TALENT AT HIS AGE (PRISCILLA). MICHEAL HAS SET ELVIS AND ALL OTHER GUYS DOWN. TURN THAT AROUND.
    WITH OR WITHOUT HIS BROTHERS. THE TRUTH IS NO ONE TODAY CANNOT TOUCH HIM. MARLON JACKSON IS THE BEST DANCER TODAY.
