Discussion of Ridgid's new 3 drawer box and the modification to convert them to 4,3,2, and 1 drawer boxes. #ridgid #ridgidtools #teamridgid #drawers #pro gear 2.0 @Ridgid_tools
For those asking. They only sell as a 3 drawer box. If you buy 2 boxes you can mix it up and create a 4 drawer and a 2 drawer. I bought one at my local hd before Christmas and they quickly sold out but have since restocked and they had probably 10 on the floor today.
I use Milwaukee Pack out @work. My company bought me one 4 years ago. I use 2rigid boxes. One in my Garage and one @work. I will be getting Rigid and Kleins Systems soon. A great video brother. Stay safe. 😊
The techs where I worked all had red boxes and asked why I bought rigid….i told them , because I paid for mine, not the company. 15 boxes for 6 years and no regrets.
Yes thank you. Finally, somebody who agrees with me that the packout drawers are not as good as these rigid drawers. These rigid drawers have that bracing underneath the drawer going all the way across which is what makes it really sturdy the pack out drawer in the same configuration drags and it's very annoying and it drives me nuts.

Thanks for this. Was waiting for Stacktech drawers but they don't have a cleat option for putting them on the wall. Instead, you have to put a huge tray on your wall which is a space-eater. Think I'll go ahead and jump into Rigid.
@RIDGID_Tools Hey Ridgid, genius engineering. You only have to make 1 box, and 2 drawers(maxium usability with the fewest skus). Was this the plan all along, for us to swap the drawers ourselves, or are you going to sell the boxes in these other configurations? Thanks for the design!
Why not just put a hinged box on the top with power tools? It couldn't be too top heavy by the time the others are fully loaded. IDK, I just bought a set of wheels, 2- 3 drawer boxes, an organizer and I already had a gen 1 hinged box which is made to work with Gen 2 pefectly. I think it is insane Ridgid did not think of making a large 1 drawer box. I hope they release it soon. So how did your mod workout?! Would like to know. This are a bit pricey, but nothing like Milwaukee's prices. The Ridgid stuff seems to always be sturdier than the Milwaukee pack-out and cost much less per item.
I have the Rigid system . They are great and durable. I just bought these drawers . They only had the 3 drawers , and dont see the others on their websight!!?. I returned them because I need portable and lighter , even though they were great for the day on the job, they were just to heavy to go in and out of; truck and the multitudes of apartments, homes, and repair jobs I do. Looked at the smaller Husky Connect , was going to buy, then looked at the wheels 🛞, the rolling box rubs on the step as you try to roll down a stairway 🤥. Good thing I tried them inside the Home Depot and noticed the defect on design. Do they field test them before production 🥸. PS , I'm still looking or will buy the one drawer or 2 drawer if they make a smaller version instead of the heavy large ones they have now...
The Ridgid are a better value, but you individual workflow should dictate which system you go with. I am using both ridgid, stacktech and packout. I'm currently working out of the stacktech and with the boxes coming this summer, will probably be my system moving forward.
I’ve looked at all the didn’t products and one thing I’ve noticed is that some, like the tough built, have flimsy plastic parts for connecting multiple boxes together.
Look at the videos on my channel. I have a 2 minute video showing the extraction process. Grab the little tab on the slide with a forward and inward jerk motion and it will come out. I took the chance for you… it works. Have done 6 boxes.
@@donniestoolthoughts9209 I had to go down a bit of a Reddit rabbit hole but there is a website that tracks what stores are currently carrying. I used it to find my 3 Drawers I picked up. The people at the store were surprised I knew they had them and also were excited to get them out of the store lol.
I only see a 3-drawer box in HD. And the drawer box should have wheels. It's pointless for Rigid to keep the big base box with wheels when it doesn't have any drawers.

Depends on how you work? Ridgid boxes are the best value for storing equipment/tools. I’ve been using them for over 11 years. Was on a jobsite with someone with packout drawers. I kept having to un-stack and stack boxes, and he was just grabbing things out of his drawers. So next day, i had a set of packout drawers. After using the 2 and 3 drawer units for a couple of months, they started sagging… alot… So the ridgid drawers are stiffer, and they transfer weight to the corners… they haven’t sagged at all. But the ridgid eco system is still more limited. Back to your question. Yes, worth it the way I use them daily.
CAUTION: One of the little tabs for the front locking latch on mine broke off. Just bought 3 of them...returning to store, I hope they last long because those tabs feel like a weak point.
If you’re talking about, how would you put a padlock on the drawers when you close the bracket on the right side at the very top there’s a hole that you could put a padlock through that would prevent you from opening that bracket on the right side that locks, the doors closed
Ridgid released the 3 drawer unit, but kept the slide rail spacing the same for the drawers. You can move the drawer slides and drawers to make whatever configuration you need. Check out my other video showing the process.
Every Home Depot received at least 4. I was in Home Depot today and they had 5 on the shelf. They only sell the 3 drawer unit, but you can mix and match the drawers between boxes.
Haven’t heard from Ridgid or any other sources about releasing them in other configurations. It was engineering genius to make the boxes with the fewest number of different pieces. And to make the drawer slide locations symmetrical. Not only that, they’re the only boxes I’ve fully loaded that don’t sag. They’re using the same slides as Milwaukee.

They have them from time to time on the Home Depot app for $49, which doesn't make any sense cause for $69 you can have XL box with wheels
