    I own this system and have some observation's for ya. The handles on the half boxes are just as strong as the full size boxes. You can stack old and new full size boxes on top of the half size boxes. What you can't do is stack the half box on top of 1.0 system. as you know the 1.0 system does not have the docking feet. Apart from that good review!

    Those are cute but pretty fragile! I ordered four from H.D. and all four arrived with cracks all over the clear top. Meaning that neither the quality nor the durability is good. Even if they fell on the floor, they shouldn't break that badly. I have had many organizers before and I have never seen the clear lid crack in such a way before. The first generation is 100 times better. It is more durable and stronger. It has never failed me!

    • @KiltPatrick
      @KiltPatrick Před rokem

      It's a characteristic of the manufacturing process for clear plastic. Its just not as strong as the black lid. I've broken 5 of the clear Packout lids with some light use, and they're more expensive.

    All you have to do is keep a small spring clamp in one of the boxes open them both up and put the clamp in the middle of the lids holding them tight together neither will fall or close. Problem Solved!!!!

    • @thewoodshed18
      @thewoodshed18  Před rokem

      I think it's all relative, Dewalt has sales on their organizers for like 12 dollars right now. For Ridgid, I would have liked to see a little bit cheaper since their target audience is more DIY and intermediate thus they aren't spending as much.

    • @lmlz3
      @lmlz3 Před rokem

      Like Woodshed mentioned- Its relative…
      Right now the 2.0 system is mostly on sale. But even the first gen 10 compartment (which still has more capacity than two of these compact 2.0s!) organizer has a far better price point…
      Two of these at $50 is a bad value in contrast to a single 10 compartment first gen at $35.
      But to contrast these compact organizers to the rest of the 2.0 gear currently available-
      -The 2.0 XL box is $50 (the bottom roller box without the wheelset)
      -2.0 Medium toolbox for $40
      -2.0 Small box is $30
      If these 2.0 Compact organizers were on sale for $20 each, I would get a set of them to mount on top of the 28” roller box.
      TL;DR: For the money I find better value buying the first gen 10 compartment 22” organizer for $15 less than the cost of 2 of these new organizers. (And the “10” still has more capacity than two of these compacts)

    Another nice review. Does the strong chemical smell inside the boxes ever dissipate? With that smell, I'm not sure I'd want to keep them inside, like in an apartment.

    • @SweeturKraut
      @SweeturKraut Před rokem +2

      That smell has been described as “off gassing”. A lot of blow molded cases have an aroma. Not sure if it ever goes away, or just dissipates.

    • @Heizenberg32
      @Heizenberg32 Před rokem

      Off-gassing is indeed the correct term. It comes from additives in the plastic that evaporate over time. They are volatile organic compounds (VOCs) - which are known / suspected to be very bad for human health. They are everywhere in manufactured goods. Notably, they are the source of "new car smell". The good news is the amount of VOCs released by little boxes like this is probably insignificant compared to all of the other sources we are regularly exposed to. Like others have said, they will decrease over time if you air them out. Since these are tightly sealed boxes you are smelling the VOCs that may have built up over weeks or months before you got them.

  • @oculophilia8724
    @oculophilia8724 Před rokem +1

    Having 2 lids open at once isnt a biggie cuz you got the 10 compartment if you want to have the capacity.
    i just dont see this thing selling well aside from certain trades electricians using it. and electricians just get packout anyway.
    carpenters dont really need it for fasteners they can use the 10 compartment or the box it came in from home depot. plumbers most def cant use it for fittings cuz it's so small.
    i just can't think of any use case for this thing when packout is so much better than this one in particular for the price.

    • @thewoodshed18

    I only had one question: What would actually fit in them? But just like every other video out there on CZcams, nobody every seems to make one that actually shows them in use. Plenty of videos showing how to take them out of the packaging though. I'm surprised you didn't do that on this video too. LOL.

    • @thewoodshed18
      @thewoodshed18  Před rokem +1

      Well, it's all circumstantial, what you want to put in there might be different from what I would. Washers, nuts, bolts, screws, drill bits etc.. However, I do see where an example would just give an idea of what to put in there so I could possibly make a shorts vid out of it.

    • @lmlz3
      @lmlz3 Před rokem

      Subjective to how you use them.
      I own a fence company so the many hardware options go inside of the older 10 compartment cases. There really is a wide variety of applications for this style of case. Especially for those of us who rely on working mobile from site to site.
      For me they house nuts, bolts, screws, tapper screws, vinyl screws, etc

    Really disappointed in the price point versus the original 10 compartment organizer. Considering that the “10” at $35 has more storage capacity than two of these for $50.
    I did grab the three piece 2.0 roller stack you showed- had to order online.
    Side note- The 28” roller job box from the original pro line has tabs to mount these half box organizers! I mounted them in the store and they fit perfectly (but couldn’t justify paying the premium for these)

      I agree. i like the integrated mounting system and the removable wheels of gen 2 a lot and this just seems like eh ok. the 10 compartment is not cumbersome to hold so this one just doesnt seem too too necessary to me at that price point.

    • @thewoodshed18
      @thewoodshed18  Před rokem

      It's all relative, Ridgid is aimed at a consumer base that is not daily using their tools to make a living like a contractor or a tradesperson. Therefore, the price for entry is a little steep. Flex, Dewalt, and Milwaukee all are priced higher but are aimed at the pro-level group. Just depends on your needs, durability wise and price wise!

    Both lids open and the handle comfort are both just dumb complaints. Just desperately looking for something to make sure you aren’t just giving a thumbs up. The handle has to be what it is so the system works and how much weight are you putting in it to make it that uncomfortable?

      @@alcastronova3889 No, they are cracks. I know the difference. When I apply pressure or let's say expand that area, I can see the line separate. 80% of them cases are like that, which proves they are not meant to take a beating. They just like the Dewalt's non tough system in terms of quality. The only one I know that does not have that problem is the high end brands like packout. Funny enough, I think the Hart small organizers are better than the Ridgid. I would stay away from these small organizers from Ridgid and just stick with the bigger organizer
