Wow that’s a lot of work. I taped mine off and sprayed black satin plasti dip to the trim. I clayed any overspray (hardly any) and it took me 45 minutes to tape it. 4 coats took me 2 hours. It looks great 🤷♂️

They definitely improved the “engineering” of the trim from last generation. Not only removal but design, on the f30 there’s just so much visible rubber around the top. I’ve always noticed it and thought it was weird compared to other cars cleaner design being bmw always does some of the coolest, sexiest little finish details. Like for example the rear windshield on the f30, and how you can see the actual edge of the glass on top and it looks like it’s floating with the gap being the drain system.
A little while ago I called a shop to ask them if they can paint my trim. They said vinyl is the best option because after a while paint starts to chip and fall and look ugly af. Have you had any issues after a long period? Like a few months, year?
shadowline brand new from the dealer here in europe is 3k dollars its INSANE.. you have to scout ebay and depending on country go to scrap yards for shadowline trim for a decent price
Im guessing that was what the orange cable he unplugged at the 5:30 mark was. If you look when he pulls the mirror out the part where that cable was plugged in comes out with the mirror
This is a great video! But long term, I have my doubts that spray paint will hold up and you'll find yourself doing it again. In fact, I would have taken them to be professionally painted if you're going to do the work...

For the f30 it’s not adhered it’s just clipped on you just pull down on the f30 and it pops off I’ve take mine off plenty of times and there was no glue
Because their tutorials are very detailed, he also explained how to disassemble the panels for the ones who want to know how to change their speakers, twitters, window regulators and rearview mirror. In short, he explains more for the good of us, and we just should be thankful
I find it funny in almost every video its super easy under 15$ and every time it looks just click it off paint it and put it back on yeah but you have remove de door panel lolll and no its not easy to remove a door panel so i would like to pay a little more for faster results instead of taking of parts and literally it will get off and than literally gets off also and again this is literally popping of also literally everything went off also nicee and for fun next time put a counter for literally lmao and its literally annoying

This is better than vinyl. I did dechrome tape on my car and now its starting to peel 😡.. gonna spray paint it soon

DIY vinyl almost always looks better than DIY paint. Especially if you're rattle canning.
