As a Belgian I am very concerned about this development. I hope the best for the victims of this flood. In these hard times we need to focus on the big picture.
Environmental initiatives must be taken seriously.

What a dreadful way to see your home and city look after flooding. Climate change is real, and we are looking at the start of the changes that have begun.

Stay safe Europe. No politician can stop mother nature, no amount of money and no regulation either.

As a Belgian the news that hit me most yesterday was : " The death of approximately 1000 flamingo's somewhere in Turkey, buried half in sand. The lake which provided food and a habitat for these beautiful birds, the water was diverted to into canals for irrigating crops, so the birds ended up in starvation because there was nothing left for them. The greed of people is imaginable

Why do the authorities even let build a village along the confluence and bend of two rivers? In and of itself it is highly risky, and with heavy rains, we have seen what can happen.

Exactly. It's like Pompeii, how smart is it to build a city next to an active volcano?

We rebuilt entire cities that were deleted by war. Often we restored buildings in their original medieval style.
Maybe together with the know how from our neighbors in the Netherlands, we can build out a preventive waterworks system here in Belgium.

the worst thing is that the CO2 entering the atmosphere today will take 100 years before todays CO2 will lead to increased temps as it takes approximately 100 years for the CO2 to reach the upper atmosphere. Thus, the effects felt today were caused by the burning of fossil fuels 100 years ago.

I like the way they spin their take on this. Extreme weather-flooding devastating, equals climate change (or is linked) .we must rethink how we build our society. I love how they feel they can curtail God's judgement. 🙏🏽 Y'all need to repent and beg for mercy.

There is a Heavenly Father who is calling us to repentance and reconciliation with Him. The end of the age foretold in the Bible is here.
2Pet 3:9: "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
