**Attention!**The small cage is a travel cage. This is how my birds live: • A Tour of my Bird Room...
Warning: Do not try this at home! This should be done by an avian vet or an experienced Aviculturist. I am an experienced Aviculturist and have groomed birds for over 25 years.
Sunlight is a one year old Budgie. She has a misaligned beak or scissor beak that continues to grow. Her lower mandible grows up towards her eye. He upper mandible grows thick and splits in two. I have over 30 years experience caring for birds and working at vet clinics and being a groomer which makes me confident to trim her beak myself every 2 to 4 weeks.
She is fine afterward and is used to being handled.
Please do not attempt this yourself and have a qualified avian vet show you how.

Please seek out an avian vet to show you how to trim your birds beak. Normal beaks normally do not need trimming. Misaligned beaks need constant trimming and birds that have a medical reason that affects the beak needs to be trimmed.
Come and see all my pets here czcams.com/video/08eCyiWhoeU/video.html
The small cage you see in this video is a carrier cage that I brought her into my grooming area. I have a bird room with huge cages for my birds and they are out all day.
Love of Pets is one of the conditions fungi infection?
Please tell me about my birds beak looking beat up and worn
Does anyone know a mobile avaian in bucks county
that beak looked terrifying before you trimmed it
Tripy1.3 your profile pic is terrifying tbh
Tripy1.3 exactly
i almost cried
This is the most relaxed bird Ive seen during a trimming (a little grumpiness near the end is completely understandable) . She's obviously used to it.
it probly hurt at the end cuase she was sqaking
Right. The bird looks like a kid relunctant to have a wound disinfected with alcohol cause hurts a bit but she knows mom is doing the right thing for her.
And now with the closed beak/wound the kid can go play careless again :)
Sunlight is fortunate to have an owner who is experienced in caring for birds. Many birds in the same situation don't make it.
teardropface did you see the intro? the bird had plastic perches!! Those aren't good for birds!
teardropface and the end
Hi, the cage that you see in the video is not the budgies cage. It is a carrier cage. She was in there for a few minutes. Its in the description. I would never house a budgie in this small cage, or plastic perches. Check out my channel and see how I keep my birds. I have a bird room for them and no plastic perches. http:czcams.com/users/Loveofpets
i know you channell
Cat Luvgirl45 jumping to conclusions without even watching the video, typical
That bird looks terrified, especially that squealing, must have been happy after it was done though.
+The Restoration of Dr Who I am sure she was stressed but feeling better now. I have to trim her beak again today.
Love of Pets the sad part is, when theyre stressed like that, you can't really just make it stop
like, you can give her a break to de-stress if its getting too much for her, but either way you have to go back at it again.
I have a bird whom has deformed toes, the nails curl around until they pierce her feet if not trimmed. She screeches, bites and kicks when you trim her nails, its horrifying but necessary.
My birds beaks are aligned but are growing out of control what should I do???
Hooman: *fixing birb*
Birb: *car alerm*
The human broke into the budgies car lol
She's such a little trooper!
Bitch why you acting like a mom
The Raging UnderCover Kid Shut your stupid mouth
The Raging UnderCover Kid Because they care about animals???
The Raging UnderCover Kid Why does it matter and make them a bitch for caring about the bird?
A para-trooper, geddit?
It's a shame that misaligned beaks couldn't be corrected, but small birds are so fragile to begin with.
Aw, she's so beautiful! I'm glad you didn't let a little misformed-ness get in the way of your relationship with her :)
HKO What sucks is a lot of people let that get in the way of stuff. Before I got my bird, Rain, the breeders were gonna kill her because nobody wanted her. Rain has two deformed feet. They are pretty much just flipped over, so she needs a guinea pig cage pretty much
OMG that budgie is so cute...
i feel bad for it when it started screaming
lol same
i know!😢
Poor baby around the end...She's so lucky to have an owner that cares
Poor birdie. It's nice that you're able to help her with that problem. I'd be afraid of clipping off too much.
@@tikoblocks3224 Aculy budgies beaks can grow realy fast. It snot that she was trying to let her break get like that, her beak just grew more bye more untill she noticed it was getting out of control. Please dotn jump to conclusions she was being gentle and was caring for her but do she could save her so she could eat ❤
I have three birdies and I got them from a flea market but my blue one had this going on. I never noticed it before until today but thank you so much for this video. I have no money to take her to the vet to get it trimmed and I managed to trim it thanks to you. She is so much happier and is eating better now
Its so sad to see a misaligned beak,
Autistic-Strudel good thing she trimmed it. She has a nice owner.
In the middle of the video I was scared for the bird but then it turned out so nicely and now I’m relieved 😅
Awe she is so lucky to have a owner like you!!! She is so cute 😊😊💕💕
Lea_xo_piggies, Awe?
Omg I am SO grateful to you! I have a Parrotlet female who got a HUGE issue with her beak that it grows super quickly, the top part of it. And I was in the position where I either have to give her and her partner up or try find a solution of the problem. And this helped soooo much. I have a pair of super sharp nailclippers which I managed to take off the majority of the beak that is overgrown and then file the rest and she is sooo happy now :D
Is your profile dragonair or am I wrong?
Sunlight mimiced car alarm sound 😍😍😍😍
I'm sorry but, some people in the comment section are complete idiots, they don't bother to read the description and just jump to conclusions, "Her cage is too small, get her a bigger one" "It should be done by a vet" "You care about her but you let her beak grow that way" "You keep saying you're a professional, so why you let her beak grow like that" etc etc
READ THE DAMN DESCRIPTION PEOPLE. 😒
Omg thank you!
I laughed on the part when the budgie started tweeting it was the cutest part
Wats so funny about an animal in distress?
Poor little bird she is so lucky to have you I'm so happy your helping her
Omg your poor baby. Breaks my heart she has to deal with that. When she started squeeking my heart broke!!! I love your little banana budgie
The birb ish squished. It's adorable.
You are truly a inspiration. I’m 10 and hope I grow up to be as caring as you . ❤️
Aww what a brave bird! I’m glad she has such a caring owner who can aid her! Her beak does indeed look better! And despite her being fussy (I mean I would too, don’t blame her), I bet she is grateful for the help!
Bird is like “this clipper and file stinks like a foot man” *faints* haha
that was amazing. i definitely learned something new. Sunlight is lucky to have you as a mommy.
Amazingly well behaved bird
Such a cute Lil birb
She looks so cute and derpy!
This is the cutest and calmest budgie in the world ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Aww poor baby 😣 so glad you helped her
she must be so confused. “mommy, whatre you’re doing and why are you touching my lip??” lol
The birb screening and my heart went off. Gib to have a heart attach
This video is a wonderful public service for budgies with misaligned beaks whose owners live in remote areas or countries without access to avian vets. It will save birdie lives. Thank you!
Poor baby. She’s so beautiful. I’m glad you helped her with her beak problem.
Beak looks funny on the bird
You are so caring and loving with all your birds. I think it’s fantastic that you chose to care for your yellow female budgie, when most people would not. Your budgie is so lucky to have you in her life. I hope you don’t take the negative comments to heart. They are all, either from children, idiots or people that didn’t even bother to watch the whole video. I think it’s great that you answer so many in a polite way to explain and to educate them. Unfortunately there is no cure for idiots and clear explanations are wasted. If we had more people like you on this planet, this world would be a far better place.
She is lucky to have such knowledgeable owner.
That's funny that it doesn't hurt her, guess it's not like kitty claws.
Good owner.
The budgie's tweeting 😊
Awwww it sounded so terrified! Well im glad its beak is ok now.
Aw poor little budgie I’m glad you fixed her beck
2:02 "She's a female so they do squawk of you handle them" ROFL
Candace Selby Are you talking about humans or are you still talking about birds? 😉
Can confirm. All males I’ve been around are easier to handle than my Lilly. She doesn’t want me to handle her other than letting her stand on me. Had to remove a blood feather, but luckily my mom helped me secure her.
Its very true so idk whats so funny
it's true though
that budgie is so brave, props to her, my budgies would've freaked out immediately and flew away lol
She was like HELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELP-
Really nice to see it trimmed down so she can eat and everything. What a gentle bird for being so chill through the first part.
Sunlight is very lucky to be in a home that can give her such wonderful care:)
One hell of a derpy looking bird haha
poor baby, at least she has a nice home and someone who can help her
So that's why birds rub their beaks on things like tree branches or concrete - to keep their beaks in shape!
Ok, I have a parakeet, and his beak was fine until he has a really long beak. He won't trim his beak on the cuttlebone anymore. What do I do?
+ToyloverToyworld15™ Hi I just saw your comment as I was scrolling through this video lol. 3 months ago you posted this, so what did you end up doing? If you havent done anything yet, you should take him to a vet who will tell you his needs. Go asap.
FizzyFloat how is he?
One word: Vet
Do what this lady did...two words, nail file.
Put it down
She is so trusting. Look how good she is.
Aw! Poor baby! You do what you gotta do, right? :) Good for you for knowing how to trim the beak properly. I appreciate that you went at the top very slowly with the file, as it looked like the clipper would have snapped the whole side off. Especially if her beak is brittle.
Also, I love her little tongue! It makes her look a little derpy, which is absolutely adorable!
when it screamed that broke my heart!
thank you so much for this tutorial!!! my little budgie powder has a weird shaped beak and this was such a simple and helpful tutorial! even though she was grumpy getting her beak filed i’m sure it will be easier for her the more i trim it.
I think it is great that you do this. I've heard that the more an owner can do for birds the better since they can die of fright at the vets. She is such a pretty shade of yellow.
Thank you
I like how the budgie was calm at first, but lost her patience like "nOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE"
Be aware that budgies beaks are live, they have blood vessels in there and you can seriously harm them. This video should of started with a warning, DONT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!
Dean Roberts You are right, I will put that in the description. Thanks
Loveofpets Thank you, that is very good of you
Dean Roberts wait but if we couldn't try this at home what's then what's the whole purpose of this how to video?
Mona Lisa Prime the channel is a veterinarian i think
Dean Roberts well it's sometimes bad but she had to her bird was suffering and if you are a pro and u rlly know what ur doing than it's fine
Thank you! I have a 2 year old budgie who had a huge overgrown beak when we adopted her, thanks to Ikuyo we help s he able to eat and drink again!
Little creatures so fragile. They capture my heart
Poor thing i would hate to have a mouth that would grow and have to be trimmed im glad shes with someone that knew what she was doing!!
Poor baby :( I’m glad she has a good owner like you though
Thank you for sharing your expertise. Everyone please consult professionals and experts for problem issues with your pets! I hope sunlight can understand that you are helping her, I bet she feels less uncomfortable after the trimmings so hopefully she understands.
i'm so glad you help her :)
I bought some brown rice that I thought had Fracking water used to water it. My parakeets beak was fine until he ate this rice one time. I am praying he will detox and beak will be ok again. He will not sharpen his beak on the cuttle bone. I don't know if he can eat seeds well. I bought garden gloves to grab him and used nail cutter and cut beak that was extra, but he is still not well...blue on his beak is pale. I pray he will heal and thrive again. Thanks for your awesome help!
Lmao it sounded like you set off the alarm on a clown car
What a GREAT BIRD to let you do that to her!!!
Poor little birb, so glad helped her.
Thank you for your time 🙏🏻. I just saved $40.00 on a vet bill. I watched your video and I did my Sally’s beak. Thank you thank you.
omg what a sweet baby...
I can't believe you can hold a female Budgie like that. My bird was so mean a hateful. Every time you got around her she would try and bite. She could draw blood. Way to go with yours. That's Awesome
Poor baby.... you’re an amazing pet owner
Wow, I did not know this was even a thing, but I guess it makes sense when you think about it. Pretty interesting stuff
I love how trusting she is
Don’t know why this was suggested but I feel more educated now.
She looks like she was in so much pain I am so happy you helped her.
Such a precious little bird
Pretty girl!!!
I thought 10 years was a lot BUT 30-40 older than me lol
I have one which had a tia at age 4 months. A lot of work went into her to keep her with us but she is still alive and kicking 2 years later. You can still see she had some brain damage because the left wing still hangs down in rest but she is able to fly normally now and seems quite comfy with her friends.
ForOdinAndAsgard How is your bird now? And a tia?
Thanks for this video. One of my budgies has a misaligned beak so this helped a ton!
Such a well behaved little birdie!
I started the video at 2:15 by chance and thought you were playing a yellow violin
How could even think that's her actual cage lmao
Beautiful Bird
She feels now better :)
U can see how much the bird trust her
So calm 😊
I was really sad hearing her squeal but I'm glad she is ok and more comfortable
Precious Lil one !
Beautiful budgie!
Poor baby. She is so lucky to have an owner with experience.
Awww! Poor birdie! Such a sweet bird!
That beak looks like it's throwing up gang signs
thats cute shirping hehe
Great video!!
Very nice information for me thank you
Shes so calm, hard to believe that's a living creature sometimes
I was literally wincing when seeing it being cut. It didn't flinch, but it just looks like it would be so painful.
Akin to doing this to a tooth :O
That's a great help 🙂
