Geoff is naive and out-of-touch when it comes to sports cards, but his content is so well-polished and professionally done that it makes any naive and out-of-touch viewer perceive him as an expert. He's not an expert. He's an opportunist who's way out of his depth, so much so that he's gone back in his back catalogue to delete his horrible takes.

That’s so true. When I got into The Hobby in late 2022 I was so in over my mind. He was the guy I was watching trying to learn because he was able to sell himself as being an expert.

They were newbies with cash trying to get rich. You got to take advantage of the situation when it exists. All of a sudden, the influencers started pumping all this new stuff, this stuff they knew nothing about, acting as if they were experts in getting rich quick, off of cards. They had all the answers. For a while they were right, riding the pandemic Ephoria. I went thru this in the 87 thru 93 era. I guess I learned from my mistakes by collecting/investing in investment graded Vintage HOF'ers, and not necessarily the high priced rookie cards. Many 2nd and 3rd yr. cards back to 1888. Been having fun for the last 12 years. Of course, the card must be fairly well centered for the year and have nice eye appeal.

Aloha, I am an avid viewer of your channel and appreciate the good insights and especially the humor. This may come off as an uber newb question, but what is the best app or website for determining card prices. Currently I just go off eBay comps but I am looking for something more consistent and user-friendly.
For me, the real issue is everyone wants to buy a card today and make a significant profit on it tomorrow... and investing doesn't work that way, that is flipping... and flipping is speculation, and speculation is run on hype, especially on modern players that np one knows if they will be hurt or if father time comes quicker than expected like with Tracy mcgrady... unfortunately he was already falling apart by the time he got to Houston. He made a large enough impact in his time though, even without any significant hardware besides scoring titles.
Typically the most explosive and athletic players go down hill the quickest, its very tough on the body.
I'll have to disagree when you said events don't affect the cards, they definitely do... but not just a single amazing game or finals will do it... it takes time.

A week after the Super Bowl Geoff said to not invest in Patrick Mahomes lol. I knew immediately never to take his advice. Mahomes rookie cards in 10-20 years won’t be affordable for the average collector so now is absolutely the time to get them. Some are even out of reach now. That other guy he works with makes entire videos where multiple predictions end up dead wrong. His advice is laughable
