I saw Angels With Dirty Faces in the 90s. I was in 5th grade. My teacher was from Northern Philly, & would tell us stories for days about his time growing up in the 50s and 60s. Watching Cagney films was one of the best ways to learn American History. It's funny to hear that line now in the film. Shout out to Mr. Larry Miller. Taught in a Latino neighborhood in Houston. Who would've known the impact a few black and white films would've had on us 30 years later.
This should be a good movie it shows the rise of the five crime families of New York Gambino Genovese Colombo Bonanno Lucchese and those who helped to create them like Meyer Lansky who is one of most important of them
Except it was originally Maranzano, Profaci, Mangano, Luciano, and Gagliano, with Maranzano becoming Bonanno when the former was taken out and the commission was formed.

Mr. Lansky was an entrepreneur and a financier, an actual business person. He let others do the killing, while he managed money. He would have been successful in any field, fate just put him in organized crime. Above all, an extremely intelligent person. He had access to enough capital to satisfy his ambition in the growth of, mostly, gambling operations.
Harvey Keitel deserves this role he’s me of the best actors of all time and extremely talented underrated and under appreciated. Keitel playing Lansky is fitting and he’s played some good roles as a gangster. It’s about time that a movie is made about Mayer Lansky this is exciting can’t wait to see it!

From Blue Collar on Harvey has always been a legend. He does some comedic stuff, but is consistently great as the darkest individuals to ever walk the planet. Amazing.
Meyer Lansky was a very short man (5'2" or so) who ruled the gangster world with his brains. Rothstein and Lansky - two of the smartest and best gangsters. Boardwalk Empire is still one of the most underrated TV shows ever.
My one problem with Boardwalk Empire is that a second level gangster from Atlantic City, Enoch Johnson, would never be disrespectful to Arnold Rothstein.

Myer Lansky was looking to move his gang into Eu and London. Freddie Mills ran a chinese Restaurant and was expanding that into future empire. Nobody got in the way Myer Lansky. Lansky sent his people to london and they reporter back that Mills was standing in thier way. So the warning came that if it wasnt sorted out then he would go to london himself and take care of the problem. So Mills was lured out into the open and was shot and killed and it was made to look like an accident. it stunned everyone. Thousands of people lined the streets to pay thier respects to Mills. his family knew something was off about all this. mills was entered into the boxing hall of fame and there was a documentary made about this called Who killed Freddie Mills?

Peaky Blinders is very entertaining but a mostly fictional story based on a true English gang but boardwalk empire is based off a true events with Characters based off real people. Plus you can’t beat the Italian American mafia 😎 or just watch season four of Peaky Blinders when the black hand comes in 🔥
@@808ghostMiller B.E. is pretty close to the real story, especially with the New York and Chicago characters [Rothstein, Lansky, Luciano, Capone, Torrio etc]. Atlantic City storyline takes a lot more dramatic liberties, though it's generally accurate in terms of how the political machine operated and what went on in the city during Prohibition.
