- Kate Abdo, Clint Dempsey, Charlie Davies and Mo Edu welcome in CBS Sports colleague and former United States U-20 MYNT head coach Thomas Rongen to talk about his experiences as U.S. Soccer’s chief scout. Thomas opens up about his unorthodox approach to coaching, coming to America from the Netherlands, getting posterized by George Best during his NASL playing days, and his regrets about not consoling Clint and Charlie after each of them had suffered a personal tragedy. Then, the tables turn and it’s Kate’s turn to be interviewed as the guys ask about her career path, love of soccer, and succeeding in a male-dominated industry.

Kate is the best thing to happen to CBS sports. She completes this shown and it’d be much worse if she wasn’t on it. Congrats on your success Kate, you deserve it!!
I find her to be so fake and phony
@@tekgid433she is a woman in showbiz. hard truth is she can't let her guard down like a man. she is just very professional.
Clint is for me the best football talent that ever represented the USA.
Claudio Reyna
Career maybe, but Claudio Reyna had the best talent. In a Rangers team that was half Dutch internationals, he was obviously the best technically. Same thing when he went down to Sunderland.
Tab Ramos, John O'Brien
Rongen has contributed so much to American soccer. I hope he gets his dues soon from The US Federation
I always wanted to see him be more directly involved with the senior team. Move up with his guys that team loved the man would have been fun to see how they performed for him.
He won’t… Believe me.
Rongen as a coach would have been an amazing experience. Great interview
not an interview that will get a lot of views based on the name but honestly my favorite one yet!!! people like Thomas Rongen are reasons Soccer has risen from the ashes of the 1900's. Legend
I had the pleasure of knowing Thomas when he was in the Tampa Bay Area. A great guy, warm, generous personality and a credit to the Netherlands.
Wow!! This postcast is super under-rated! It's one of the best soccer podcasts on the web!
kate is a gem! would have loved an entire episode on her. but this will do for now. i definitely had a feeling that this team is her favorite.
Naw the champions League crew with Micah, Jamie, and Henry is her top team
big difference btn fave team and top team. champions league is definitely the top team but this one is her favorite. @@andrew348
What's amazing about Kate is that she is both glamorous and one of the sharpest people in the room, often the sharpest person. I have so much respect for someone who has learned all the languages she knows and is as quick witted as she is. We are blessed every time we get to spend time with her.
WOW! Great show. Kate is a joy to watch and you just know she is always on her game. Cheers!
I’m ready for the Kate-centric multi episode run
These shows are the BEST. I sincerely mean that. I love each and every episode. I've done the pod and the vpod. I love them both but the visual aspect is key. Thank you.
Was this the last episode of the season? No sneak peak for next week 😱😱😱😱
Kate, we all love you and your energy. You are the best in the Industry!
Love these, keep it up CBS sports, appreciate you guys being real, I hope this helps the fan be gracious and cheer you on, being a pro athlete isn't easy and you guys are doing a great job being so authentic. Well done and such a great platform
Kate Abdo is a phenomenon.
kate conducts great interviews and gives good interviews. i just wanted her to keep talking @ CBS 20 minutes isn't enough.
Clint too funny bruh😂
Best insites into folks and futbol/soccer...ever. please allow some more time for the soccer stories. I could watch for hours!
I can't wait for this to move onto cable/tv!!
legend
Kate is a star! She was born to do this! 💚🩵
Isnt there a movie coming out about this guy? how did you not talk about that?
Its definitely the realist!
Getting to know them from a personal side allows the audience to connect with them & the program which makes all the difference. Same goes with our national team players representing us (all US citizens). It’s been a joy watching our former player’s transition into broadcasting and witnessing their progress. Having former players cover the games makes all the difference since they KNOW the game. Not trying to be disrespectful, but having to listen to JP call games is painful with him constantly stating the obvious for 90 minutes. It’s time for him to step away and go cover baseball. We're now at a point in the US where we need knowledgeable commentators like this crew and the greatest of all time, Ian Darke
I probably played in the same local leagues as Clint in and around Nacogdoches when I was in college. We once had a Mexican abuela chase us with a broom. 🤣
Rongen is the Bill Walton of soccer.
I was just thinking during the legit fifa windows in the upcoming 2 yrs would it be smart for usmnt to travel and play the first team players with a few reserve players to replace players that are playing for their countries during the qualifying window, to play like man city,Barcelona,Real Madrid, chelsea,Newcastle , top teams in brazil, Argentina,England ,Spain during those windows to play actual good competition rather than playing lower level countries that can’t help the progess of our team.Tbis can also test our tactics and how we can adjust aganist these teams that play similar to the national teams of their respective countries ?
Clint rocks Tim McGraw faith hill and big hawk… he is that dude
Yooo how you gonna have Rongen on and NOT ask him about Subotic?!? smh
*Clint Dempsey* - the Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr./Muhammad Ali of MLS
These are her brothers, the guys in the UK are her men.
Why is this dude not the head of US Soccer.
That'd be a tough name to have in English football...
Why
His surname is Rongen which sounds like wrongen which is a British English phrase for a dodgy guy.
@@Delboy0 i meant delblow
I was looking around in Red Light district with two teammates touching body parts for free right in front of those leather jacketed pimp dudes in 1991; we must have lucked out that everyone liked us. I scored a goal against a German team in a u-17 youth tournament that same week too. 😊
Illegal Mexican league is a wild thing to say 😅
Everyone wants Kate's validation lol
Illegal mexican league? Does that mean amateur league?
Probably, doesn’t seem to have mal intent during the interview.
I noticed that. I don’t think he meant it in a bad way, but it caught me off guard lol kind of surprised they didn’t edit that
@@RAWRisaiRAWR I'm not questioning his intent just wondering what that meant...amateur leagues, minor leagues or just a Sunday league team?
I think it’s an English as second language thing. Definitely no mal-intent. I think he meant “informal” or “unofficial” bc Clint grew up playing with Mexican kids
No, players got paid and people gambled on them. It’s illegal lol
