  • Here is a top-notch fingerpicking song for sure - join me to learn the chords and right hand patterns for this iconic riff! We'll go slowly through bar by bar - there are only 8 bars to learn - let's do it! Shane

    So glad today to find your lesson of this guitar part. I've tried to put it together in the past, but it had proven to be beyond my fingerstyle skills. I got a new guitar recently which, along with retirement, has increased my motivation and time for practice, so I'm much closer to getting it down. I'm roughly through Bar 1 of your lesson with breaks to rest my left wrist. Coincidently, my new guitar is the Taylor 814CE, and loving it. Thank you very much Shane.

    Great lesson. I’m still working on it. For those of us with significantly less talent than Lindsay Buckingham, would it be a good hack to use two capos? One as you have it and the other upside down on the bottom 4 strings? If not, why not?

    • @GuitarAtWork
      @GuitarAtWork  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Dan - you certainly could do that - it's a good idea to be able to tune down to drop D though.....doesn't take too long to get the hang of it. Cheers,

      @@GuitarAtWork thanks for the response. I play with different tunings all the time. This was about hand strength and holding that second fret bar for basically an entire song.

    Great lesson as usual. To me this is the hardest song on this channel, it's very hard to stretch my fingers to the 5th fret and to make that G string ring out while having the pinky on the e, even though I thought I have a good handle on bar chords and stretchy stuff and did some travis picking songs. Any tips?

    • @GuitarAtWork
      @GuitarAtWork  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Tamas - I think you're right for sure. It's a trickier song than most but it can definitely be done. Even though I have been blessed with really long fingers I have to make sure that my wrist is down WAY low for the chord you mentioned. Come in from underneath as opposed to having your left hand thumb up high behind the neck - it should be down low and straight behind the neck. See if you can freeze the video at exactly that chord shape when I play it and I think you will see what I mean. Cheers, Shane

      @@GuitarAtWork hey Shane- I practiced some other hard-ish travis picking songs for a month then came back and I can do this now with decent speed and little effort! I think my barres + stretches weren't solid enough before. Weirdly I find it easier on my dreadnought than my 12 fret concert guitar. Couldn't have done without you:)
