    In the interests of fairness why not try a name brand set of bars. I'm not that sure that bars are specifically designed to handle loads like you applied in that plain.

    • @GCPerformance18
      @GCPerformance18  Před měsícem +2

      I have done that test on plenty of bars in my past, from roval, to zipp and pro vibe as well, never Have I got that.... I know its not fair because I have not done it on camera, but just think about how you spring, you are literally having your body wait on top of those bars yanking from one side to the other, with so much force on those focal points like the hoods and also the middle of the bar

    • @doitlikeDavedoes
      @doitlikeDavedoes Před měsícem +8

      @@GCPerformance18 I do get it but I don't think you get those kind of forces through that particular plane. Maybe if you put them in a clamp and pushed and pulled from the approximate position that you'd be in whilst riding. I don't think the average rider could ever hope to place those sort of forces upon them. I'd even say just because you pay through the nose doesn't mean you'll get a superior product.

      Thanks for your test, that was nice to watch. I have purchased similar tools for removing and installing bearings and yes they are simple but they work. For somebody that has to use them daily they are probably not good enough but for me replacing bearings 2-4 times a year they are great. Yes I agree that name brands have some great looking and high quality tools but sometimes the cheap ones can do the job.

    I have a ztto BB press which is probably similar to the topree one. It works really nice. Just beware that the rods are steel and the cups and everything else is aluminium. The rod will survive if you didn’t align the bearing properly but the Aluminium thread will suffer. That is for any steel, aluminium combination wether it be 50 or 300 dollars. A open workshop around here had the same one. It has seen some use, but because they made sure it is used properly it is still working like new. Definitely a must have for a PF BB owner. I mean a workshop would take 50€ at least in Europe with disassembly and assembly and then in the end they forget your drivetrain is waxed and there you got yourself another half a day of work cleaning every single component again.

  • @owensnicholas
    @owensnicholas Před měsícem +1

    Cheap tools sometimes require more care and skill to use. You have to be careful not to do something dumb with them.
    I have that toopre bottom bracket press. I bought it to install a press-fit bb on a friend’s bike. To do that one job, $50 was an appropriate amount to spend, especially when you consider that you also need primer and retaining compound.
    I have a few toopre tools. They’re totally fine for use at home. I think my favorite is the disc brake spacer. It’s a thin piece of metal that goes over a rotor. You stuff it under the pads to center the caliper. It’s great.

They ended up not shipping 2 items, and the one item they did ship came one day late(their timeline not mine). They gave me a $5 credit for the late item and credited me for the missed items. So, I made a 2nd order to use my credits. That order hasn't arrived yet, but I only ordered it a few days ago. The one item I did get I quite liked, and their service department was quick giving me the credit on the missed items. I used the BB kit to install NTN bearings on a BB 30 carbon frame with the appropriate retaining compounds and stuff (thanks to Hambini for explaining in great details the whole process), and they have worked absolutely perfectly for more than 5000 km... I might be the one guy in the world with a perfectly crack-free BB 30 frame !!!

    Had a bad experience with a cheap torque wrench. Seemed fine until one range was way off. Not really worth saving a couple bucks at risk of breaking a bike. The knock off internal cable routing tools are cool, even just for the magnets. Random hardware is fine, like anodized cable ends, cable donuts, or QR springs, and often a good value. Cheap kit of computer screws is great for replacing missing tiny screws in shimano shifter covers. Random kits with washers, m5 bolts etc... for installing racks and fenders is useful.

      @@GCPerformance18so, it’s been more than a month. I’ve done anything from long endurance rides, high intensity sprints climbs descents and 1000km. I also tested the durability of the handlebars just like you did in the video, sat on them and I can say everything is fine so far. Only problem I had was that it came with a garmin mount and I had no option to use any wahoo adapter so I removed the garmin one and replaced it with my wahoo stem mount and glued/screwed onto the out front mount which came with the handlebars. I can also confirm that the mount is made of solid carbon and doesn’t even bend slightly so it’s super durable as well. I now also understand why so many people and mechanics hate integrated cockpits especially if you have a mechanical groupset. Sometimes I remember that these handlebars were 110€ or so and feel unsafe but I can assure that my handlebars are good and safe. It basically comes down to which 7 year old has made it☹️

    I must say i a bit shocked by the way you treat and handle the stuff, yes it is cheap, still there are loads of cyclists who maybe cannot afford big brand stuff and buy their things on aliexpress or temu. By throwing the stuff around, and off the table, you just seem arrogant telling everybody that you can afford fancy stuff and don’t need to buy cheap, good for you but maybe not a great message.

    • @GCPerformance18
      @GCPerformance18  Před měsícem

      If that’s what you got from that then that’s the way you look at things. All those items can handle a table fall. If I’m gonna baby a 30-40 tool and worry about it getting scratched then there’s no point to use it. Tools are meant to be used for long long time, also I know there are unfortunate people out there. I help out a lot. I just don’t film it for content. I do my part to help people the ones I can
