- Dialogue storyboard for class - I chose to do this scene from TMA since its got some good character interactions and I just enjoy the show (always more fun to do something with passion behind it).

You know, it occurs to me that Martin was always a lot smarter and feistier than people gave him credit for. He's always planning ahead- schemeing, even. And he relishes victory. But because he truly cares about other people, he's mistaken for weak. Johnny and Alex see s1 Martin as "fluffy" in character. I agree. But it's emotional openness and sensitivity, not submission, confusion, or fragility. Martin is sharp.
Old comment but I heard they were originally planning for Martin to be an avatar for the Web and you can really see that here.

I know this is an old comment but as a martin kinnie, it makes me extremely happy when people point out and acknowledge this
‘Old comment but’ ……… this is because we see the series from Jon’s perspective for the most part. Jon doesn’t tend to appreciate Martin in general in the first couple of seasons, so we as an audience don’t get to see Martin outside of the narrow view of him Jon has.

That worm removal is absolutely brutal and I love it!
god looking back at old episodes is... “these files are far more protected than we ever were” of course they are. archival assistants are excellent bait for entities and avatars, replacing them is easy so long as you dont give a shit about people. but the statements you can get out of them? the stories that quite literally sustain the magnus institute? of fucking course those would be safeguarded so much more. the foreshadowing in every nook and cranny... jeez

The fact that Jon didn't immediately go all heart eyes at Martins preparedness is unrealistic and homophobic.
He just plays everything close to the chest. He's not very open. But there's a reason he instantly boyfriends Martin the minute he hears about his crush.

Wait I thought his injury was in his leg, not his arm. They said he couldn't walk and thats why they couldn't leave the room all together. Also while Sasha and Martin get closer and further from the tape recorder, Jon always remains the same distance. And then Tim has to carry him through the tunnels because he is clearly built for that, and thats how they ended up losing Martin because they couldn't three-leg chase him. And how Prentiss got them both at once. Its a great animatic but that was ticking in my head about it

Anyway, awesome job, dude, I LOVE the character designs.
Yeah I kind of agree. And imagine being someone who died THE DAY BEFORE the apocalypse started. Not getting stuck in an infinite loop of torture and horror by dying maybe hours before. Not to glorify... death but in the context of the show it is definitely a mercy
If the stranger does kill it's victim's we never find out what it does to them
@@kassidytucker8431it’s confirmed that sasha does die, in a very real sense, and just no longer exists. at all. unless i’ve misread something, i think it’s not-them meta physically replacing and reusing sasha’s (and other victim’s) body

jon smiled at martin! Stop being so rude to him, please, he just wants to help! you really did a good job with the emotions in this scene, especially the worm removal, very gross, made me very uncomfortable! I'd almost forgotten about this clip, but damn, it really does show how smart Martin could be. Sasha and Jon's friendly argument hits closer when you realise that shortly after that, he couldn't even remember her face.
The only thing I’ve noticed by re-listening is that the worms are closer to long silver maggots
They remind me of woodworms, giant maggot-like beetle larvae that bore into dead trees. The real ones are quite safe to handle, despite having massive mandibles, but they definitely look like they could burrow into a person.
This is an incredible animatic! I love the amount of detail, the abrupt cut into worm removal surgery, the physicality of how everyone moved when they weren't speaking and the character designs were really fantastic! Hope you did well in class!

I'm not sure you expected this much attention for a class project, but the attention is well deserved. This is fantastic, and one of the better animations/animatics I have seen for the show. Also you have perpetuated the stereotypical Martin appearance.

so far this is one of the best fan animatics I've seen; the shot composition, the layout, the angles, everything was interesting and easy to follow; there was enough movement to ensure nothing got stale, the shading/lighting was nice on the eyes, and the art is really cute
