Classic cars and a LUCKY DISCOVERY | Cars & Caffeine at Combermere | The Old Piggery Cafe car meet

- We drive over to a classic cars & modern sportscars meet and make a great chance discovery in this Old Classic Car channel upload. We head to The Old Piggery Cafe for Cars & Caffeine at Combermere on the Shropshire/Cheshire border. Our steeds for the day were the MX5 (piloted by Mrs OCC) and little Dodge, the vintage 1924 tourer, which stood in for big Dodge due to reasons outlined in another recent vid.
A great many fine modern sporty cars turned up but fear not there were quite a few oldies there too, albeit none quite as ancient as little Dodge. Old cars included a great S-Type Jaguar and Lotus Europa, TR6, Mustang, various classic Minis including a wonderful Cooper S Mk1, a VW Derby (I've not seen one in decades) and more, although the real highlight was stumbling across a super-original Beckmeter petrol pump from the 1950s, alongside which the Dodge was positioned at the end of the meet for a few very necessary photos and video clips (which make it into this upload). To find out future dates for this classic and modern car gathering, check out the Cars & Caffeine at Combermere Facebook group.
The 2022 classic car show season is really ramping up now with many events pencilled in, and others recorded but not yet uploaded to the channel, so please keep an eye on the uploads here for more show walkarounds and visits to.
The channel is growing at a fair rate now, please have a look around if you've not done so before.

Some nice cars at this meet. Little Dodge looks great one of the best at that show. Well done that man. all the best Bob
Thanks Bob, last time a Model T turned up so hopefully it'll make another appearance sometime
It's nice to see the little Dodge out and about, a real beauty. The S Type Jag looked like lots of fun as did the little DRK ( I've never seen one before) All in all my 3 favourite cars at the meet.
I remember filling up at pumps like that when you had to wait for the bloke in the garage to come out and serve you. 5/6 a gallon (27 1/2p)
Wow!! I have never seen VW Derby before, and what great condition it was in! Just brilliant.
It was incredibly clean, and years since I last saw one for real
Mini Cooper S was a nice example with the twin tanks. In the USA the Morris Mini Cooper S had to be ordered with the extra tank I am told. Thanks Here I have only seen them with twin tanks. Like the Figaro always have. The Jag was excellent as was the Lotus Europa, used to see a lot of those but not nowadays. What a find with the petrol pump! I think it was once BP because you can just see the shield. Thanks for the video Rick, very nice, with bouncy Impella as a bonus. 👍👍
Thanks, it was an interesting morning
Brilliant video cheers!
Thanks for giving it a watch!
Great meeting with some glorious cars, many thanks. I agree with Bob, Little Dodge ( and petrol pump) did it for me though.
It was a lucky spot and too good an opportunity to miss a photo or two
The early 'high sided' Europa had the Renault 16, 1470cc engine and gearbox, the later cars had the 1557 Ford Twin Cam but still with a Renault gearbox.
Phew I was along the right lines then, always a risk when I start on about something I know little about :)
I had to laugh when the TVR departed - you can never make a quiet getaway in a TVR and as for the shy, retiring chap in the bucking bronco Impala, well, he was never interested in going quietly :) Very entertaining vid.
Yeah I remember my '64 Morris Mini Cooper. Put my Galosh on the dizzy and nothing could stop it. (It wasn't an S)
You need to do some pruning so we can go for a drive in Big Dodge
Yeah my fingers are more often black than green, but we'll get the cutters out soon
I think it’s generational, but you and I would both mention (as you did) the “Modern reliability” of the Figaro - it’s 31 years old! When i was getting my first classic car, 31 years old was 1946!
I do love your Dodge tourer.
True, I suppose cars got all reliable by the 1990s and haven't really improved much since, just got wayy more complicated - and fat :)
The DRK are Renault 4 based, built in Ellesmere Port and huge fun! Produced between 1987 & about '98 if memory serves. There are a few around.
finally, somebody got it right and made a fwd 3 wheeler.
Ah righty didn't know that, thanks
Last time we were here I chose the black Mustang as my car of the day and this time I'm picking the Mustang again. I love 911's too but they've finally started getting a bit too 'modern' in shape for me now.
Same for me, I like the air-cooled 911s upto and including the 993 (I think!), after that they gradually get fatter and fatter - the race prep'd GT race cars sound epic mind
Some nice machines there.I do like those Figaros, cute cars and a good one is not cheap. Interesting vid.
It was a good way to spend a few hours, last time there were more oldies there so hopefully they'll be back again
Could the petrol pump possibly be an old BP unit? The colour seems to be reminiscent of their colours. Thanks for posting.
Excellent, and a bouncing car 🤭
A great vid and lovely cars. Where can I find details of when this meet is on?
There's a Facebook group for Cars & Caffeine at Combermere (or something like that anyway), dates will be posted there I believe
@@oldclassiccarUK thankyou
Nissan Figaro 1:51 very rare in Europe
Wonder why the white car with the Chev was studiously avoided.
I focus more on the older cars as this is a classic car channel (and website), thanks for watching
Knock and the door will open... the cobwebs tell their story?
1970s Jaguar S type, loads for sale for £50. and, no buyers, (not many) Peace be unto you.
And popular with the villains in The Sweeney too :-)
I'll be glad when the low rider fad goes away. Just ruins perfectly good cars.
Another good vid OCC, re Lotus Europas (according to Wiki) they used 2 Renault engines and the Ford DOHC. ref - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotus_Europa, P.S. .......................I'd willingly swap every car present for your Dodge.
