- Sonic CD Restored - Mania Edition is a Collection of Mods for Sonic CD Restored that try and resemble Sonic Mania, made by various creators.
The main feature here is CD Visual Overhaul (& Knuckles). This mod aims to be an all-in-one graphical enhancement for the objects in Sonic CD. This meaning things like items and enemies, and not the actual graphics of the terrain.
- Description -
The player characters have been almost entirely replaced with sprites from Sonic Mania, the color palettes lowered in fidelity to fit in with Sonic CD while preserving the added detail of the sprites.
Aside from a few notable edits to Sonic & Tails, both characters (& Knuckles) animations-wise use full rotation instead of 8-way when running on angled surfaces for a more natural look.
Additionally, the other characters (Amy, Metal Sonic, and Eggman) have new sprites and palettes as well.
General Objects, Level-Specific Objects, Badniks, and Other Minor Tweaks are all specified on the entry page for more info.

This was played on the Decomp/Standalone version as I wanted to try and switch from the Steam version. Personally I like the multiple options that are part of CD Restored, from the selection of soundtrack choices to the mod/gameplay settings. One thing from the mod settings that I did like was that there was a Random Character setting, which randomizes from the 3 characters at every stage/special stage load. Thought it would be cool to turn it on so that way you get to see all 3 characters in action in one playthrough. 👍🏽
- Things to note -
Super Sonic Mod was meant to be part of this collection as noticing the screenshots through the Visual Overhaul, Miracle Sonic & Miracle Tails have changes in not only animation but palette too. While I had the Super Mod enabled, it seemed that it crashes the game once reaching the third act in each zone.

Best Sonic CD mod I ever seen. This beats whatever other mod released with multiple features because this one definitely has some amazing options to change up. The the instantaneous time travel option is the most BREATHTAKING one I've seen yet and it defeats the one from the base game. I've noticed shields like the bubble and flame proof shield don't make sounds when activated, but I don't find that a big deal at all. Thank you for the medium long play this Saturday 🔥🔥
