I just bought a new SD43 at the Rolex AD a couple months ago. I’ve had some used Rolex watches but this is my first time getting one brand new at the AD. It’s an outstanding watch and I only had to wait 6 weeks for it. 😊

I had originally been looking at getting a sub, but when I tried on the Sea-Dweller it just suited my 8.3 inch wrist so much better than the sub. I’m so glad I went with the SD43. I love how it doesn’t get the hype that the sub does. It’s fantastic!!

@@drdmouse I honestly could not believe it either. I think it comes down to me just being a nice, laid back guy (not to toot my own horn), about the exact opposite of the flexing ass-clowns on Instagram. They could tell I was an enthusiast and collector, and not a flipper. And I also credit the fact that the SD43 is nowhere near as "popular" as the Sub -- even though I consider it a better watch (for ME). Also I drove almost an hour out of my way to an area that is much less populated than the metropolitan area in which I live. And I probably had a little bit of luck on my side. But now that I have a "history" with them, I'm going to try for a yellow dial OP41 -- after I save up some cash.

It is indeed a lovely watch. Even with my 6.5 girlie wrist! 😄During the week I go from wearing a 40 mm to a 44 mm Panerai. I would recommend anyone to actually go and try a larger size on or if you have the opportunity to be able to borrow a larger watch for a few days. I borrowed my father's 46 mm Navitimer. I put it on a brown leather stressed zulu strap and straightaway it felt comfortable and smaller on my wrist. In the end my father ended up giving me the watch as he said it looked better on me than him. 😄

SD43 is an “if you know, you know” piece from the Crown. I’d be willing to bet that it’ll be quite coveted in 20-30 years’ time by enthusiasts. Current size trends, and obsessions, have kept a lot of speculators away. Which is cool.

It’s not available at my AD in the UK. I’m a diving instructor and I just don’t understand why you would buy this watch unless the Sub is too small on your wrist. I do use a watch for diving when I’m either solo diving or diving with dive masters or instructors because for a 2 dive day a watch is very easy to use with a chart but most people buying this watch will never dive with it, it’s complete overkill.

Let's be honest, all dive watches are basically obsolete now, whether it's the Sub or the Deepsea. Your $200 Seiko is waterproof down to 200 meters, so that's got you covered as a diver. All luxury watches are just toys, for rich boys, so whether it's a Sub or a Seadweller or a Deepsea, they're all just vanity accessories

There are 7 instructors in the shop I part-time at now and they all use watches when they are not teaching, computers make you lazy and 2 dive days are not complicated dives to work out. You clearly don't know that 20atm is not a diver's watch, if you don't believe me check it out yourself, 20atm is rated for snorkelling and nothing more, 30atm is the minimum requirement for a dive watch.

I dived in Egypt at Christmas just gone and used my Sub, I had to teach the Egyptian instructor I was with how to do it, and he looked very awkward when he realised he should know this information, and that he should also carry a backup timepiece, I laughed it off. My watches are here to tell the time and perform well under the pressure of the task I am undertaking, I am not the only person who uses watches as they are supposed to be used, it's the pretenders out there who have tried to redefine these watches as fashion that have blurred the lines.

Great thing about watches is you can have a great variance and wear them all for different occasions. I own a G-shock MTG-B1000 and wear it on vacations over-seas and while riding my motorcycle. I love that it's solar powered and syncs to my phone and I believe surrounding cell towers or GPS sats (don't quote me on that one). I never need to adjust the time on it...... ever! I also have this exact Rolex Sea Dweller and a Breitling Avenger 2 Seawolf (yellow dial). I wear these 2 watches to meetings or interviews or outings. I plan to get the 2 tone Sea Dweller for special occasions. Out of all my watches, the only company I would not buy another watch from is Breitling. It seriously lacks in quality.... but I love its aesthetics so it isn't going anywhere. It's also a monster chunk of watch. It eclipses my Sea Dweller. Lol. I still want an Omega and a Grand Seiko as well.
