He was named by fans, peers and even critics, king of rock and roll in the 50's cause thats mainly all he sung, and made it world famous, but when he came back from the army in 1960 and started to perform and conquer virtually every musical genre for the rest of his career,
from then on, he was, and still is.........The King.

Elvis is the only true king because he changed American culture! No disrespect to those who came after him! He started it all ! It is because of him that those who came after him had their successes & may have been given royal status
as well ! He was the model for it all! Without his style, the door for musical freedom( for folks of all races & ethnicity )would have remained closed or perhaps just little ajar! He pushed it open all the way! His voice hit the airways like a sonic boom , not just here but all over the world. ( He became universally popular without ever touring the world, way before the internet!!)
Those who came through that door were able to have a freedom of expression that did not exist before Elvis, whose music came straight from his soul & he taught the world to be unafraid to express that soul through movement !
His musical style exhibited this passion in this type of( rock'nroll) music for the first time & gave young folks a voice & an identity that they never had before! (Btw: It is not his temper that is burning in this song , it
is his love as the title says!)
Analyzing Elvis' lyrics is futile! The best way to understand & explain his songs, is to feel what he is saying & then, attempt to describe the soulful feelings & emotions his music imparts to you (& to all of us !) I hope you don't mind this little education about Elvis!
You see, a lot of us grew up with him & still love him, although he is no longer with us! It is not just a coincidence that he is loved & listened to, just as much today, as when he was alive ( if not, moreso)!
He is not only still loved but is also still quite relevant in
    2019!
    This is because
God made him a legend & this is why man called him the King
of Rock'nRoll,! He also sang many genres of music, in his own style, especially gospel for which he received many awards!
There is something divine about his continued loving "existence" in the lives of his loving fans! The extent of this type of relationship between an artist & his fans has never been ( or ,perhaps rarely been) seen before!
I am so glad that young folks like you, are discovering Elvis! Once you learn what he is all
about, you will really appreciate him as he deserves! No one has been able to fill his shoes, though many have tried! Hope you remember this fact, the next time you listen to his amazing music! Thanks for your reaction! I look forward to the next one!!

Elvis initially thought the lyrics were a little over the top, but his studio master is an amazing performance...same as Promised Land. He would perform the song on an almost nightly basis in 1975, both on tour and in Vegas. His initial reluctance to include it on stage was centered around how to end it (Proud Mary style) and how to physically perform it (1972 Polk Salad Annie moves).

jacksprat418 it’s not always about writing the song because when you are writing a song for yourself it’s made for your voice .but when you can take anyone song and make it fit you that’s different that’s Elvis I can give to shits that he never wrote a song or he did write a song or co-wrote a song the man broke down more music records then any other singer think when Elvis song you had to sell a million records to get a gold record from the 80 today you only need to sell half of that . To get a gold and these singers today have Auto tone to help the voice. Think Elvis was in the music business for 31 years he has more gold ,platinum ,silver records then any other singer or a band .

He was great, sure..I'm not saying he wasn't because he was and he was a great live performer as well but I don't care about awards and records sold, that's basically popularity contests more than anything, especially the awards. I can think of several singers with a better and more versatile voice than Elvis when it comes to both male and female vocalists/singers and I can think of even more musicians/artists who would smoke Elvis in instrumentals/instrument playing. And then when it comes to writing music, Elvis was a joke in terms of creativity and originality..and that's just the truth, period.

In his 23 year career every Single or Album he recorded... (incuding the Movie Soundtrack Albums Nd Gospel Singles and Albums went Gold and Platinum and Multi Platinum. Yeah...someone stated below that not his temper was rising...his temperature was rising. Elvis however was known to have a horrible temper at times. If he saw something or someone he didn't like on TV , he'd pull out one of his guns (he ALWAYS had at least one on his person, even on stage) and shoot the TV set off. He did that in hotel rooms a lot. Then he'd pull out a wod of cash, hand it to one of his enterauge, and tell them "Buy a new TV. Naw, hell...buy the whole place new TV's."

Elvis Presley had a major temper/ anger problems he often said he gets it from his mama. Watch the movie Called Elvis and Me it’s Priscilla’s interpretation of her life with Elvis. But it’s a great movie

That story of the man stabbing his wife reminded me of my grandpa always going to outside to work in garage or yard when my grandma played her Elvis records. I think she had every one and even scrap books of tabloid clippings, she was a fanatic when it came to Elvis

I can tell by how tidy his hair is that this was the first song of the show. He used to suffer from almost crippling stage fright, which explains the slight weakness of his voice/presence. A couple songs later, he transformed into the stage persona that hypnotises us all.

Burning Love was the biggest selling Record (Single) of the year 1972. It only went to number 2 on the charts. Chuck Berry's novelty song "My Ding-A-Ling" went to number 1 and Blocked Burning Love from placing number 1. But Burning Love sold more copies than any other record in 1972!

@@larryblaich4347 Elvis was a perfectionist and worked songs over and over in rehearsal, and like the greatest artists I don't think was ever truly satisfied with a performance. In fact, he was quoted as being perplexed as to why he was so popular.
