Wow What a monumental performance. A great song and and saying it was a powerful performance is an understatement.I never heard this. Elvis' voice is incredible. He sounded like an opera singer by the end of the song. This one performance alone proves Elvis was the greatest singer. He dedicated his whole life to singing. That was his calling and his God given gift. I like the way you analyze in detail how Elvis sang. I like your reaction.

Thank you Dani for bringing this 'oldie' back to life. Elvis sang this with such power and emotion and to think he was suffering from so many illnesses and that he would leave this world only months later. He was the master of entertainment and best of all he really adored his fans - never failing them to the very end. God Bless him. N.

Tony Bennett sang the original in the 1950s. Elvis was such a great interpretive singer. He could always do an outstanding job covering another artist's song and make it his own. He does that here with "Rags To Riches". Also, he sounded fantastic singing it live. To fully appreciate Elvis incredible talent, people need to see and listen to his live performances.

Thank for your great reaction video - I love seeing younger people discovering, and being impressed with Elvis -- and not just assuming that he was nothing more than _Hound Dog_ and peanut butter & banana sandwiches. Lol
This *New Year’s Eve '76-‘77* show was arguably Elvis’s last great concert. He appears to have lost quite a bit of weight. (FYI-- Elvis’s weight gain in later years was mostly water retention, due to health issues. It was a more “puffy” looking kind of heavy. He should have been getting medical attention instead of being on tour!)
Anyway, for this show at least, Elvis looked awesome, and was in a great mood, probably due to being recently engaged to Ginger Alden.
And vocally? Vocally he was just out of this world that night! It’s a shame this show didn’t get professionally taped. This should have been his *Elvis In Concert* TV special.
And it contains the one and only time ever doing _Rags To Riches_ live. The musicians were taken by surprise, and you can hear Elvis giving a few queues to his band, who were taken off guard.
For Elvis fans, this is a very rare gem, with some jaw-dropping power notes. In spite of declining health, Elvis’s voice just continued to get better and better. He’s my favorite singer by a wide margin - I’ve simply never heard anyone with better pipes.
I'm hoping the audio and video will one day be AI-enhanced, so we can enjoy it even more. (Before we’re enslaved by said AI after conquering the Earth!)

Thank-You, Dani, love watching your reactions to the king.
I believe what he's doing at the end of his words is the mark of an experienced singer.
Annunciating so you hear the words clearly.
If not the words become obscured and you can't follow the song.
But I don't believe he had any professional training or voice coaching, he just knew so well how to sing to his audience.

Hy big sister, just read you message. That sounds horrible!
Is it currently happened in Graceland? Who or what is BLM?
And all the other things you described sound really bad. Do you know what the reasons could be? Does all this happen maybe because of the common situation ( corona and the deaths in the black communitys)?
What means the 2nd ammendment right and which people will take it away?
Sorry for asking that much, but i'm interested in what you are talking about and my english is giving up when it comes to those special terms. 🤷🏼‍♀️
The other reason is that here in Germany, we have similar situations since a while. On Sunday they ( mob is the right word) wanted to storm the government building in Berlin only because of the corona restrictions. At least a few officers stand on the stages in front of the "people" and they said "if you want to storm this building, you have to kill us"! Fortunately they could be reasurred and calmed down! Very brave officers in my eyes! But it's scary to see something like this. The Germans actually are calm and reasonable. But all is different these days. I can totally understand your feelings.
Please tell me your opinion about all these things that happened. I guess we have the same attitude about all these things!
And because of that, a double portion of hugs and love to all of you!

He was , and still is, absolutely the BEST!!! I literally fell in love with him at six years old!!! I remember when and where!!! I was in my aunt's tv room talking to her and my mom. I turned around and saw the most handsome man singing so beautifully on tv . . . I stopped and said, "Who is that?", and they said, "That's Elvis!" Man, I was hooked! At that point, I listened to him all the time, got his records, bought all kinds of pictures, on and on! I got to see him in concert in 1973, or 1974, at The Forum in Los Angeles. I still love Elvis! There have been and are many great singers . . . but, at least in my opinion, nobody has come close! God bless you Aaron Elvis Presley!!!

If I am not mistaken I think this performance was the biggest dollar gross for a single performance by a solo artist at the time, something like $850,000 for a single performance .... Goes to show right up to the end Elvis was a major concert draw, truly the "KING" to the end and beyond ....

Hi Dani, this was at the Pgh PA New Year’s Eve concert 12/31/76. He sang “hurt” and we loved it so much, we were standing and clapping so he sang hurt again and at the end he rolled over in the floor. czcams.com/video/7mH0Zu4sXy0/video.html. Then we all went really crazy!!! It’s a fan film so it’s not real clear but you can see it. He also sang Auld Land Syne to us.

Elvis would sometimes lay on his back and sing and he know he hit the really high notes on hurt from his back in Chicago in 1976 or 1977, I need to check. I have video of this somewhere, too, and it's grainy, of course, but I will look for where he is singing on his back to see what song and is and send it to you if you want. Smile and have a wonderful day! ~ Christopher
