    I was sitting here for a solid 5 minutes before I realized this is a NEW VIDEO! The old 2014 one had a long needed update ahead of it! It's great to see how each ensemble reacts to being the best of the best :)))

    11:53....not only did a 10 year old get a ring, the color guard captain aged out that night. Olivia Hansen basically grew up in the BD org...twirler in 2001, C corps 02-07, open guard 08 B corps 09-10, A corps 11-15. FIVE rings (3 A corps, 2 B corps). 4 of those seasons undefeated (2 A corps, 2 B).
    An amazing career.

      Is she related to 80's BD Guard Captain Laurel Hansen? If so, what a legacy. Another family that I am sure you know is the Doebler family and girls. (may her mom and dad RIP, her mom was an angel). I believe Beth's daughter is marching in BDA's guard this year! I have one more question, Did you march with Greg Hamilton? He marched BDA (soprano I think, but could be wrong) and his sisters were both twirlers with one (Lori) being in BDB for a year or two in the 70's or 80's.

    • @samsignorelli
      @samsignorelli Před 2 lety

      @@milescumminski8077 Y'know...I've never thought to ask Laurel (we aged out together in 84). Then again, Hansen isn't exactly an uncommon name.
      Side note...the bari soloist in 83 BD for "One More Time, Chuck Corea" was Tony Signorelli...we probably ARE distantly related. Finally met him in person at DCA in 06 when hew was with Renegades and I was with SoCal Dream.
      As for Greg Hamilton...no. I only had one year in BD, and there were no Hamiltons in the corps in 84, at least not in the A corps.

    1988 - one of the best nights of my life. Such a thrill to beat my idols, my gods, and the greatest and classiest drum corps in the activity. 1989 - such a thrill to pass in review and salute them as champions. Two sensational years.

    Stood on the field in 1980 with the Spirit of Atlanta. The championship could have
    gone to any of the top 4 corps. A tie with the Bridgemen for high percussion and
    a second place in horns to the Blue Devils. What memories.

      Go back and watch BD 2012, objectively. Not as a fan or with any negative feeling towards BD. Watch the effect, the visual and specifically watch the guard and the percussion. It's not even close when it comes to cleanliness. Cabaret Voltaire changed what a lot of corps do now. Bluecoats, Crown, SCV, Boston, Blue Stars, etc...do very similar shows to that incredible 2012 show. Crown sounded better but their content was lower so their achievement was higher. I'm not a fan of either and enjoy like anyone else when BD goes down. But that year, no f#&$*#^ way. They were a class above everyone!

    I am very saddened that in this 50th Anniversary year of DCI, there is no acknowledgement of respect nor any story regarding the Canadian Oakland Crusaders Drumline of 1977! At DCI prelims, Oakland took top drums by a wide margin and yet the corps never made it to the DCI Finals show as they placed out of the top 12. Furthermore, the top drumline at finals did not top Oakland's prelim score!
    This is the only drumline in the annals of DCI history to win a caption award and yet not advance to the night show. This achievement demands respect and to not have a video of a few minutes devoted to discussing this accomplishment is a damn disgrace and a serious oversight by DCI! Shame!
