    Just assembled mine. Fn awesome bike for price. Live 2 blocks from beach and 2 blocks from mountains. This bike does it. The power of the front wheel to pull out of sand or climb steep gravely hills is akin to the old Husqvarna 250 Cross. This H8 independent 2WD with two 1000W motors and a 48V 22AhHr battery will get you there. It's NOT a hard-core, carbon fiber trail bike with optional seat, but it can handle those trails. I'm already looking to beef up the brakes, currently 180mm rotors 2 piston hydraulics to a 210+mm, 4 piston brake. The power and weight of this is solid and fun to ride. The Lcd display also has 5 display modes: Odometer,trip od, timer, max and average speed. Great video.

    So far knock on wood, the h8 seems to be extremely reliable and not a nuisance. It’s got enough power to get me to 37 mph, hydraulic brakes so that they’re actually useful and safer. As a car guy who likes power, the little e bike definitely puts a smile on my face. My 23 wrx is more fun, but this is so fun in the snow and on dirt roads and paths. I put a suspension seat post with a seat with springs and a seat that I find comfy. So far I’ve got nothing bad to say about it. Great little e bike for the middle of nowhere to have some fun.

      I'm a Dual Yoke fork fan as well,, it's just too much twisted torque on any bike just braking.
      Now add weight transfer during braking,, entire load just landed on front axle, hoping yoke can take a joke.
      One thing for sure, my single yoke front end mountain bike forks are basically worthless,
      being you feel everything under a 3" drop off a curb. 1" drop at end of driveway,,, Bam, hurts like hell.
      About the only true front suspension that can absorb running over a pencil, are trailing link - and springer forks,
      like my Honda 50 had in the sixties. They were perfect.
      Granted fat tires will do most of it.
      Cheers

    The biggest worry I have with these is the inherent weakness of these single crown telescopic front forks, they handle normal offroad bicycling fairly well, but when you add a front motor its applying a bending load to the crown joints and they have been known to fail with higher motor powers after repeated hard launches. It might not become an issue if the controller has low enough settings so even when you crank the throttle to maximum instantly it won't give you maximum torque. Edit: I'd suggest looking into double crown front ends, I'm sure there are now some more affordable options available, thanks to the popularity of cheap motocross style e-bikes.

    • @johnnysezebike1319
      @johnnysezebike1319  Před rokem +4

      They seem to be doing well, don't jinx me lmao. I'm a fan of Double Crown forks and it's a typical upgrade on all my bikes, once I beat the stock ones up. They have to be able to handle the torque and add torque arms to be sure. Controllers are 22a and strong enough to get me up the biggest hills I can find so no need to mess with it. For the price I paid, the fork upgrade still has it around 2k making it a great deal. Great points

    After carefully studying the specs of over twenty e-bikes for $2000 or less, I am coming back to the Philodo H8 because I weight 265 lbs., and NOT avid biker due to biking having a tendency to pull and damage tendons in my knees, so I need good pedal assist to ride where I want to most of all, on trails through scenic countryside. I am much stronger at hiking mountains than biking due to the muscle and bone structure God granted me. The only things the H8 needs added are a Cloud Nine seat, rear suspension, improved quality shocks in the front forks, internally routed cabling for better protection of the conductors, and other electronic components are exposed and a tad more vulnerable. I like the fact that the front motor is only used upon demand with the throttle; perfect for hill climbs. Some of these things could be improved upon in my shop, others can not, but for the price, the H8 appears to provide more than any other bike under $2K.

    • @johnnysezebike1319
      @johnnysezebike1319  Před rokem +1

      Great post. Seats tend to be a personal preference and it's hit or miss on any stock seat so I keep several styles on hand for different riders. Rear suspension would have been nice and would drive up the cost, same with branded forks, which have to be able to handle the torque. I'm all about double-crown forks so I generally upgrade my bikes to them, after I beat the crap out of 'em lol. Internal routing is protection and cleaner. I just upgraded to quad brakes and it was a breeze. I haven't had any issues with the wiring and riding pretty overgrown trails. Everything you listed would make it ideal. eCell Super Monarch has all the good stuff (dual 750w) and is about 5 grand.

      @@johnnysezebike1319 I am trying to keep it around $2K, but really want to know what upgrades to the Philodo H8 YOU think are worthwhile. Accessorizing is fun but it does cost money, so I'd like to learn those changes the really improve the bike, such as a cassette that has one really high gear so you don't ghost pedal, or an easy battery or even a controller upgrade that outputs higher current. Can forks be replaced? I can't find a forum that talks about the H8 much less one that discusses upgrades in specific detail. Anxious to hear back from you!

      @@DARIVSARCHITECTVS I usually upgrade all my brakes at around 700 miles to Coomeng Zoom Quad pistons due to the abuse from going down 4,500' mountain. That's extreme so they shouldn't have to be changed for some time with regular use. While I love double-crown forks, prob wouldn't be changing them for some time unless an issue pops up. They also have to be able to handle the torque. Def not looking to change controller as this has more than enough power as is. I posted a vid of climbing 400' in .5 mile and it was a joke. Now the only thing I would add to my bikes are a rack battery with dual battery parallel connector, which I got from Area13. Wired Freedom will easily outperform this bike for $1999. Single hub full suspension that goes 40mph and peaks over 2400 watts. Oh, and it doesn’t look like it was assembled in someone’s garage.

    • @johnnysezebike1319

      I'd have to see it climb the hills I ride. It'd be the first rear hub only to make it up some of em. Didn't know they are the old Wicked brand until I checked it out. Thought they vanished. Thanks!

      @holliday. Před 7 měsíci

      The wicked bike has 250 in shipping and this one has been free shipping even at its highest msrp. For another 300 dollars you could add another battery and smack the wired for range and be almost there with high end power. I still question whether the wired is as efficient at those high speeds as the philodo due to the power band.

    Although the first time I saw this bike I thought "another pile of garbage".
    I know a guy with a CZcams channel that has modified it by putting a second 20+Ah battery on it and goes for 60-100 miles single charge rides.
    Ok, ok, but there is more, in one of his latest videos he's surpassed 8000 miles (12,874.75 km) this year alone on that bike.
    My thoughts now are, I can't be garbage.

    This bike has great specs but I just don't like how it has a very "home made" look to it with the controllers sticking out and that frame mounted controller bag etc. DEF has great top speed and AWD which isn't common on E-Bikes

    • @johnnysezebike1319
      @johnnysezebike1319  Před 5 měsíci

      I hear ya. It could be made with everything hidden and that's done on the Ecell dual motor bike. It's also MORE than three times the price so there's that. For this price I don't mind the controller bag or the exterior mounted cables. I get the same flat ground speed on my single 1kw Bafang hub and mid-drive bikes. T
      While the mid-drive climbs the same hills (I have a video of both climbing the same 400' trail) that's also double the price of the H8. IMHO, price and performance trumps all and this has both. I bet if you got on this and hit the throttle, and when that front wheel spins out, you will have a big smile (most giggle) and completely forget about aesthetics. Literally happens every time (the giggle).

    • @johnnysezebike1319
      @johnnysezebike1319  Před rokem +1

      Generally it's not a good idea to get them too wet. All makers say water "resistant" not water "proof". I've been caught in the rain on several brands and never had a problem. I keep baggies in my pannier bag and cover display if it rains. Just be sure to take batt off and make sure everything is dry afterwards.

I wouldn't do it without the plastic shields (on ANY bike) to keep their feet from the spokes. I also suggest they never wear shoes with laces for obvious reasons. This bike has alot of power and not to be taken lightly. The bike can handle it, no doubt. Enjoy and be safe!

      @johnnysezebike1319  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Watch again i guess. I never said the throttle didn't activate the rear, I said only the throttle activates the front and you only get both when using throttle. That's per Philodo as well as my experience with two bikes. If no throttle, only the rear is active. Prob why there is a separate controller for each motor. Hope that helps.

    Has anyone confirmed that this bike actually is 2000w. Seems odd after researching that they’d use a 22amp SC for a 1000w motor.

      it has 2 separate controllers,1 for each wheel rated at 27 +/- 2 amps so a peak of 29 amps at 48 volts for each motor or 1392 peak draw per motor which is 2784 watts combined. though out of the box amp draw in the computer is set to 12 amps or 576 watts per motor but is easy to change via the P14 setting.

      Idk I got one and for the price I can’t ask for more, has hydraulic brakes handles well at 37 mph, I got a suspension post for my seat and a seat that I find comfy. I wouldn’t dare do this to my specialized mtn bike. It’s just a nice way of exploring and having fun for me. Gets me way more excited to get on the h8 and have it cart me around the trails. There’s a lot that goes into making these bikes somewhat good. If you don’t want to fiddle around with a bunch of electronics and making everything work this isn’t a bad option, it’s one of the cheaper but more quality bikes. I use mine in the snow and it’s great.

    I don't understand why people use Bluetooth speakers, better are BT earbuds, the sound much better and don't annoy others around you.

      Earbuds will get ya killed. BT lets people know you're there although most of the time there's no one where I ride in the trails and on the street it's way safer. Most importantly it keeps the bears and big cats away while in the mountains 👊 If folks want top of the line, they better pony up alot more cash, 3x's as much! As for gears, I used 1st gear the other day to get up a hill, even with two motors, and top gear on the road coming home. These are 99% downhill trails and this bike keeps up with the ecell Monarch. Just sayin.
