Souness and Bryan Robson were about 10 years out. You can’t really compare them. On their day it would be hard. Couldn’t separate them for toughness I’d say Souness had a better shot but Robsons goal v Holland 1988 was just heroic. Would be hard to pick Robson had some bad injuries and at Man Utd when they weren’t so successful v Souness who was very successful with liverpool
The players of today would still be rolling around on that pitch today. And the BBC would have some sort of "graphic violence" and offensive to lip reader's warning before the highlights show.😢

What a player Souness was!
I was at the game. I skipped into the main stand with my pal wee Merti. I was 13 and my pal was 11, we 'doubled up'...we each stood right behind a paying customer and pushed ourselves in through the turnstile along with them, we were soaked right through as it was torrential rain all day long and we just got comfy in the wooden seats when two posh guys...(when i say posh i mean somebody wearing a suit who isn't from a housing scheme going to court or a funeral) chased us saying we were sitting on their seats which were at the very end on the east side of the stand at the front next to the England fans in the east terracing, the two of us shat ourselves and jumped from the seats then 'dreepied doon'...(this means to gently lower yourself from a height and then let go and land) into the enclosure below and we got to see the match and a policeman let us onto the track when the game had been stopped by the referee when England fans started throwing coins to let us pick some up and we got a few 50 pence coins in our pockets before he ushered us back into the enclosure. We got to see Scotland beating England at Hampden and pick up a trophy and walked back up the road with money in our pockets for fags 'n' sweeties. Happy Days!

@@The160879 I think I was wrong regarding the coin throwing. It was Scotland fans throwing the coins at England fans who were banned, the game was originally scheduled to be played at Wembley but the venue was switched to Hampden due to crowd trouble fears and a few dozen English managed to get tickets and when they revealed themselves they were pelted as the police led them out onto the trackside and eject them from the ground.
No quarter given here 😂
It looks like all Scottish players wear weird white belts, what a horrendous shorts design!

Souness is better but Robson is definitely cut from the same cloth. What a player.
Can`t agree I saw Robson outplay Souness when he was at West Brom. Best British player of his generation in my humble opinion.
