I know the game releases tomorrow anyway and most people spoiled themselves already but I think it's better to use a frame from the trailers instead of Metroid-Samus angry look from the final boss fight!

PS Can you possibly do a Rewritten mod for both the main plot & the DLCs with maybe a Kalos mod? And also would installing your mods will ruin my Switch Eshop or not? Thanks again Kingdom! 🧡💛💚💙💜

I can't believe anyone would say that Samus wasn't emotive enough- she's basically radiating confusion (her first use of her metroid powers), irritation (shutting off the fans), warmth (quiet robe), bemusement (that kraid dodge needs to be made into a gif), and a metric fuck ton of rage (80% of the game).
Samus spoke with her body language and animations; arguably as much as the doom guy did back in 2016.

I love how when Quiet Robe approaches Samus, she turns to him in threat assessment mode, with her defenses up because she's just so used to having her life threatened everytime she encounters another unknown being; then when he gives her a friendly greeting, you can see the tension literally melt away from her body, and she has a moment of relief. And that's communicated without her needing to make a sound.

Not only that, her movement was PERFECT. Try to hold your arm out and then whip around that fast to aim behind you. You'll likely move too far and have to pull back to compensate, or not move far enough and need to adjust a little. @@ScyBlade Unfortunately, their methods are incompatible. The Doom Slayer heals and powers up by absorbing pure hell energy, or its filtered variant, Argent. He’s just so incredibly angry that it literally can’t corrupt or kill him, so it only makes him stronger.
Samus is able to absorb X Parasites because she’s developed Metroid traits from the experimental vaccine she took in Fusion. Her Power Suit then converts the extra mass and energy into ammo and suit energy, something it’s capable of doing because the damn thing is near-magical Chozo biotech that’s so tightly interwoven with Samus’ own biology it, too, has taken on Metroid traits.
Essentially, the Doom Slayer’s absorption method is rooted in magic and spiritual purity (pure, unadulterated RAGE, to be specific), and Samus’ is rooted in extremely futuristic biotechnological f***ery.
Ironically, the X is one of the few things that could absolutely kill most space marine protagonists instantly. It doesn’t seem to mind any form of armor when infesting hosts, and is absurdly difficult to effectively deter, never mind kill, without the assistance of a handy-dandy Metroid. Combined with its absolute lethality and ability to rapidly consume, improve, and redeploy complex organic forms, the X Parasite makes even Halo’s Flood look like a total joke in terms of threat level. Samus just happens to be pumped full of the one thing that is a perfect counter to the X - the DNA of the life-energy-consuming Metroid bio weapon, which apparently one-ups the X’s consumption method.

Honestly, my take on it is that Samus was so drained right after _Super_ , that _Other M_ basically happened at the worst possible time, especially since it must've felt like it immediately undid the absolute final death of the monster that _killed and ate her parents_ . The Ridley scene feels more like it's "not even *actual death* can stop him?" than anything else, as Samus realises that the monster that destroyed her life can essentially reincarnate itself through any other member of its species at will, just portrayed horrendously, and... well, honestly, most of the issue with _Other M_ is that it has some good ideas, but portrays them so horrendously that it outright _ruins_ them (in large part due to cultural differences, which are especially jarring because Samus has always felt like just as much of a Western Hemisphere character as a Japanese one). They should've made Adam less of a prick, and been explicit that the whole "authorisation" thing was either an obstructive government policy that they had to obey to give her legal permission to be there, and/or a precaution because they know her modus operandi and didn't want the delicate equipment -and/or nearest planet- destroyed, and had it specifically apply to offensive upgrades only. (That, or frame it as Samus going along with it as an intentional challenge run, or something.) They should've let Samus' VA actually show emotion, instead of basically using the game to screw up her career because of Japanese emoting stereotypes. There are a _lot_ of things that could've been done to make _Other M_ actually work, but instead... we got what we got. >.>

@@MrOmegatronic Sakamoto directing the English dub was quite the mistake, not only did it make Samus look super submissive, but also obsessed with some asshole who is supposedly her "best friend", I like the idea of Samus being drained after losing the Baby Metroid and reuniting with Adam though, maybe it would've been better for Samus to react with anger towards Ridley, and let that anger make her vulnerable, not fear since she has nothing to fear, Ridley's a pushover at that point for her.

Honestly the best thing they could have done for the item progression in Other M was have Samus get hit by some sort of EMP blast early on that disables most of her advanced abilities, but interacting with terminals or just being in intense battles allows her to re-activate those power ups through the organic part of the suit- like her brain going “I need this ability and I need it NOW!” jump-starts the suit and reactivates that ability.

I can't help but wonder if those were early signs of her Metroid DNA taking over and going out of control. Metroids are near-mindless predators whose very purpose, as defined by their creators, is to kill.
Granted, trying to kill something that is actively trying to kill you - and will not stop until it has achieved that objective - is a natural reaction, especially if you have the means to fight back.

@@keaton3258 Particularly if you notice that Samus Returns takes place BEFORE Super, and thus before Other M. And look how cool she was in that game, only flinching after Ridley almost kills her, not before she even starts fighting. You know what? I like to consider Other M a non-canon spinoff at this point. Well, anyway, I actually noticed how fitting it is that the series is called Metroid. The Metroids are some of the most powerful enemies in the series, an evolved Metroid is the villain of the Prime series, the goal is to destroy them all in the second game and its remake before the last of its kin bonds with Samus and helps her twice, (technically three times if you count the DNA infusion during Fusion's intro) and Metroid even translates to Ultimate Warrior in the game's lore, and Samus becomes one in both ways at the end of this game.

And the more I think about it, I gotta mention how this just might be the first horror game where both the good guys and the bad guys are equally terrifying. The X is terrifying for just what they do to their victims, the EMMIs are terrifying for how you can only kill them when the game lets you, and Samus is terrifying for just how skilled she is and how she takes it all in stride, only scared when she is physically at her enemy's mercy, or when she feels she herself might not be able to control herself.

I hated controlling Samus with a Dpad in a 3D space, I hated being disoriented when switching the Wiimote to aim in first person and not being able to move while aiming, I hated how automated everything was (press left or right twice to dodge = win), I hated the music or lack there of with very few exceptions, I hated how linear the progression was, I hated everything involving Samus’ depiction, I hated Adam, I hated having to wait for him to authorize me to use shit after I was already melting in the lava area, I hated the gravity suit, I hated the bland generic “ice, fire, forest” biomes especially coming after Prime 3 which was also on Wii and had stellar art direction, I hated the voice acting (yes I know it’s less worse in JP but I played it in English in 2010), I hated the writing, I could go on and on and if you can’t see why so many Metroid fans have a problem, or twenty, with this game then I cannot help you.
It’s not the worst game ever, far from it, but as a Metroid game it’s horrible and almost destroyed Samus and the entire franchise for us.
It’s the main reason why it took us 7 years to get a new game and even then it was just a late remake on the dying 3DS, we had to wait another 4 years for the first entirely new mainline Metroid game.
