- The Exorcist: Believer
Only in Theaters October 6
Exactly 50 years ago this fall, the most terrifying horror film in history landed on screens, shocking audiences around the world. Now, on Friday, October 13, a new chapter begins. From Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green, who shattered the status quo with their resurrection of the Halloween franchise, comes The Exorcist: Believer.
Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Tony winner and Oscar® nominee Leslie Odom, Jr.; One Night in Miami, Hamilton) has raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett, Good Girls) on his own.
But when Angela and her friend Katherine (newcomer Olivia O’Neill), disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.
For the first time since the 1973 film, Oscar® winner Ellen Burstyn reprises her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, an actress who has been forever altered by what happened to her daughter Regan five decades before.
The film also stars Emmy winner Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale, Hereditary) as Victor and Angela’s neighbor, and Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles (Harriet, The Righteous Gemstones) and two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz (Fosse/Verdon, Bloodline) as the parents of Katherine, Angela’s friend.
When The Exorcist, based on the best-selling book by William Peter Blatty, was released, it changed the culture forever, obliterating box office records and earning 10 Academy Award® nominations, becoming the first horror film ever nominated for Best Picture.
The Exorcist: Believer is directed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay by Peter Sattler (Camp X-Ray) and David Gordon Green, from a story by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills), Danny McBride (Halloween trilogy) and David Gordon Green, based on characters created by William Peter Blatty.
The film is produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and by David Robinson and James G. Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment.
The executive producers are Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, Stephanie Allain, Ryan Turek and Atilla Yücer. Universal Pictures presents a Blumhouse/Morgan Creek Entertainment production in association with Rough House Pictures.

Well the boy who was the real life inspiration for the original movie made it all the way to nasa
Everyone’s bullying them
the actress playing katherine is amazing she's a newcomer and, from what i see so far in the clips i see she's phenomenal
That’s Jen Nettles
She was the lead singer for the country band Sugarland
@@victoriamason14Katherine is played by Olivia Marcum. The Mother is played by Jennifer Nettles.
@@WalkerSlayer9878 yeah she was a country singer. She was the lead from Sugarland.
why?
I have to disagree
Props to them for not giving her a demon voice when she started saying it over and over. It takes massive restraint to not do that for a possession movie (yes, I am well aware they have demonic voices when shit goes down but still)
Yeah I see what you mean as that only looks torwards the start of her being possessed, I’m no expert at all but I guess it takes a while for that demon voice to kick in
Yeah and it definitely looks creepier without it or at least for the body and the blood part
I was thinking the same thing, I told my sister when we decided to watch the movie that it was one of "those" movies where the possessed speak like people who need to cough out some mucus or something-
Imagine if they had. It already comes off as silly repeating "The Body and the Blood" like someone suffering tourette syndrome. Now add a demon voice. It would be an instant skip. They should have just cut this scene entirely. It's not scary. it comes off as mocking the mentally ill. And if this is what the demon wants to make her do, that demon is mega lame.
I was just talking about this on the trailer #2 video. I usually avoid exorcism movies as sometimes the demon dialogue gets cliche and cringey.
Last exorcism was my favorite. This one looks promising. But I guess we’ll see.
I'm glad they removed that synthetized double layered demon voice in this scene. It is way more effective like this.
Hard agree
I hate that demonic voice they always use. It’s gotten to the point of being laughable.
I agree as it sounded too "Evil Dead".
this is not demon possession this is just how gen Z behaves
😂
y’all are so obsessed with gen z, it’s weird…
@@keonhh10that’s cuz y’all smell really bad

OK boomer imagine being such an ageist that you think an entire generation is just filled with idiots
The Exorcist was and still is a classic. However, I'm intrigued when you have two little girls possessed at the same time.
Same here!
^ AI bot
twice the schlock, in this case. not intriguing. nothing like the original.
@@AF-dn2bz which isn't the point anyway...
For the woke
The trailers look very promising... there have been so many exorcism/possession movies since the original but i think this movie is going to be different, in a good, terrifying way! I cannot wait to watch this!! So excited.
I'm so glad they brought out the robotic voice in this scene, I really didn't like that when I saw the first trailer, I think they're saving the demon's voice for the movie (I hope so)
I'd give an Oscar to Olivia O’Neill already. That "I don't want to go to hell" line is too deep.
"Oscar"......"too deep".....😂😂😂
She actually says “I WANT to go to hell. 1:19
Do they get paid to post this stuff on here? 🤣 This looks like every other derivative possession movie.
@@devinellsworth1367no she doesn't lol
@@johnathans_account2107I think it would actually be creepier if she says she “WANT” to go to hell. That’s just my opinion, because it shows the demon has fully taken over at that point.
I feel like I’m the only one who’s excited for this film 😂
i am too!
Trust me buddy you’re the only one count on my and my family we’re being waiting 50 years for this 50 years after the first one
This feels like a shitty movie. I remember when movies release trailers that didn’t tell you what happened beginning to end
You are.
You definitely are 😂
The original Exorcist is the only horror movie that had ever scared the bejesus into me as a child and as an adult.
Ellyn Burstyn is my Dad's first cousin! In the making of the 1973 original exorcist 50 years ago, unexplained fires on the set (bedroom scene in particular) occurred. Several bizarre deaths also happened to some of the cast members.
There was a fire but the claims of "unexplained" deaths have been greatly exaggerated. It's just because of the subject matter of this movie. Multiple people died on set filming The Dukes of Hazzard but nobody ever says that show was cursed lol
I had heard that the person who played the priest in the movie the stairs scene really did happen after the film had been released
@@ReinaAngel84 the young priest may 13 2001 he pass away. then the other actor (old priest) march 8 2020 and film released in 1973 for your information.
Also it was based on a true story but it happened to a boy not a girl
@@edub9930 also that "true story" of "Roland Doe" has been pretty much debunked.
I saw this clip before, but it was taken down. I noticed there was a little more in this clip than before with Katherine acting strange.
I said it before, this is a really well done sequence. I liked that the Minister finishes the sermon as he sees Katherine becoming more unhinged. Props to the Actress playing Katherine.
Film was brilliant ❤❤❤
The movie isnt even out yet and this is already the best scene in the movie.
lmaoooo talk about low standards
It looks weak compared to the 1973 original if they wana scare people it'd better to have no music in the background
If you like comedy. It’s derivative and unimaginative.
@@kopetz071 Of course it isn't going to be as good as the original movie but it doesn't mean we know whether or not this movie has credit, we won't know that until we have actually watched it, so let's see.
Just shut up and watch it or dont. Nothing will compare to original
These young girls seem talented. I love horror movies. I hope to have a good time at the theater. The Exorcist of 1973 is legendary and an amazing film. I know movies nowadays are different but I'm gonna watch this one 😎
Saw it tonight and i really loved it
That scene is terrifying!
straight to DVD...
Trailers always look good. The masterpiece of the original will be hard to top. I hope this movie isn’t another boring piece of garbage like most of the other exorcist sequels!!!!!
Exorcist III: Legion was great though.
I don't think this will be good cause it's a girl boss babe movie I bet so for this I'll wait for reviews first cause I really liked the Original and I don't want this to ruin that if it's Woke
It's going to be hard to be worse than Exorcist 2, but we'll never see a film as good as the first and third.
@@matthewoshea7224 agreed, however not like the original!
Genuinely loved this film

Lord Jesus save us all from demons.
This scene made me look behind my seat cause I was in the top row 🤣🤣🤣
The body and the blood!! 😈🩸😈
So excited for this damn movie I can’t wait!
Too young to watch the original when it came out but did read the book, The Exorist, at the curious age of 11. And was utterly riveted by the read. I eventually watched the film some years later and found its low-key presentation to be an utterly spooky outing. The BBC this week, celebrating its 50th anniversary, aired The Exorcist. The film remains timeless and as creepy as it was back then. (A family member texted: "watched it at 1am and still gives me goosebumps"). For me, no horror film since comes close. This latest attempt of a reboot I suspect will remain without impact. Subtlety in the spooky storytelling in modern day dramas is lost, as a defeaning soundtrack, a chorus of "who-can-scream-the-loudest" and a predictable flashing lightbulb etc. as if begging the audience to jump out of their seat, takes its place. All resulting in a constant reminder that this is just a work of...fiction, And tonight's sleep will be sound. Simplicity is sadly lost on modern-day horror writers and so, for me, I know this film will come, go and remain unremembered. And to all real-life exorcists out there: it will be just another OTT horror flick.
I was also to young to watch IT. so read the book. Got to the drain part and didn't sleep for like 3 weeks!! 😂
this film is utter garbage!
I total agree with today's horror being to obiously "a movie", the exorcist was a masterpiece of a story with multiple layers and realism, takes you to highs and lows, and leaves you with a sour end in a very mature author fashion.
The mummy 2017 is a great movie it deserves a part 2
I just got chills by her performance alone, the exact same that I felt when I saw Regan’s performance when she was slowly starting to get possessed 😱
Who tf is Regan

@@dontrah1838 she’s the little girl that got possessed in the original exorcist movie
@@Reyna_Amaturi And there you have it. One reply comment just proved it’s not and it won’t be the same or have the same impact as the original film did in 1974. It just won’t. Also, I agree that they did cast the right girl for this!

Her saying "I don't wanna go to hell" is so funny to me😭
Right? So cringe.
LOVED IT!! When I saw the trailer, I said to myself isn’t that the mother from the 1973 The Exorcist movie(and it was) so I decided to watch it and it was GOOD. Loved how they went back and had the two characters Chris and Regan McNeil from the 1973 The Exorcist.
Watched this at my local Marcus Theater yesterday, honestly an amazing movie.
The acting of both the girls are awesome👍 But it couldn't be compared with the scariness what we got in THE EXORCIST. No film could compete the original one.
Seriously???? THE EXORCIST ISN'T EVEN SCARY! Light weights....
For today's standards, the exorcist isn't remotely scary. For its time, yes, very. but today not so much
I think people live on the memory of how the film made them feel back then or nostalgia 🤔 or I personally don't find it very scary.
@@jamesclare4097movie old as the dinosaurs talm bout it’s scary 😂😂

Watched it today and loved it
This trailer was the best scary trailer
I really wanted to see more of this family. It would've made for a better movie to go more in depth with both girl's families.
Exactly thats why i felt like it fell short there was too much overacting and angels dad was too angry he didnt seem terrfied or scared like katherines dad
@@luisaarora9487I think that's because he wasn't a believer, so he didn't really attach much emotions to what was going on, trying to see it in a realistic way and approach it with a solution. While Katherine's parents go to church and know a lot of stuff. It's natural for them to be more afraid.
Besides, Angel's father is just a different person
He is scared too but doesn't reveal it much like Katherine's parents.
I get that, and Jennifer Nettles was fine in her small screen time, and may have been really good with more material. But, Norbert Leo Butz as the Dad was kind of hammy and bad at times. Idk, if I wanted more of that character unless they had a different actor.
@@tonyjurkas2791 The point being that we really needed to see & get to know both families. It would've made me sympathize much more with them & their possessed daughter.
I like the reverse exorcism , when the devil tells the priest to remove himself from the child's body 😂😂😂😂
this movie was crazyyyy
Saw it yesterday.really good movie the two girls killed it👌🏼
Steps to fight off a demon.
Step 1: call the Doom Slayer.
Step 2: sit back and watch him tear it apart.
