    Once again, love the lesson, and have been applying everything i learn from this channel as much as i can. I actually am going to try out the whisper yell trick today on a track i'm working on. I like to refresh my memory right before I apply a technique by re watching the videos, i find it helps to catch the subtleties that might not be apparent immediately, but are very important for replicating an exact sound, I think. This is definitely one of my favorite channels.

    Something I realized ( as a drummer, and live sound eng)... dancing shift happens on the beats 2 + 4 (snare hits)... not on kick ( 1+3).. a lot of guys have crazy loud kick drum mixes... they are missing the boat... once I realized this - I found my mixes sounded better with more snare than kick.

    So, Dr. B, I have a few EZ Drummer packs, like three I believe as well as MT Power Drum, I feel like all of the snares collide with my vocals (the snare seems to amplify my sibilance issue as well). Is there a way to EQ the snare to get it out of the way or should I seek out a snare sample that works with my vocals and my musical style to begin with?
    I kind of know the answer already, but I really don't want to buy any more junk. >.>

    Bobby, where can I find that song?

  • @recordman555
    @recordman555 Před 2 lety

    Yes, Bobby - yes! Today's pop music - it can be Country, Contemporary Christian, Metal, - even (to some degree), EDM - the most important 'ingredients' are the vocal and the snare! These are the two elements we humans latch on to as anchors for sonic identity. Great example: "She Drives Me Crazy" by Fine Young Cannibals. That "paper-bag-pop" snare combined with the vocal makes it 100% rememberable! That's how a mediocre band with a so-so tune find their way into the "classic" category. It's an overlooked art today - finding snares and vocals to overcome the graveyard of music.
