    Hello LadyAquatica, Solomon’s Island here with a quick input on your situation, a lot of people step away from the basics when a issue is at hand and look for a chemical to resolve the issue, being in the hobby for quite a while I’ve learned there are typically only six things that could be causing this, flow, water quality, water parameters, par level, parasites or non reef safe fish, which are many factors to consider. If this were to happen to me i’d check the flow it looks like the hammers and torches are not opening up all the way, I’d check all my parameters with Hanna checkers and Hanna Salinity checker and use the Red Sea Mag test kit to make sure my levels are healthy, I have a par meter so I already know my par levels but I’ll check again just incase, I’d keep a small wrasse like a 6 line if you don’t have one already for things like flatworms,I don’t believe u have any non reef safe fish, but if all those things checkout,isolate and dip affected coral in revive,I’d remove all chemical filtration, add a good fresh quality carbon bag for 1 week only, remove carbon bag then do a 20% water change and stay chemical free and just continue to keep your parameters stable and allow the tank to recover naturally.

    I really hope you get things figured out. There’s always the Aquabiomics route if you wanted to see if any coral pathogens are in the tank. After successfully keeping Euphyllia for years and then suddenly losing colonies one by one, I finally quit keeping them. 😢
    It’s sad because those are the corals that attracted me to the hobby. Thousands of dollars in livestock gone. Desperately dosing cipro, baths, iodine, and every dip I could think of. It sucks really. You have been at this hobby for a long time. I hope things turn around for you!

      @@ladyaquatica I do. Have your corals started turning around? I’m thinking I’m going to iodine dip my corals that seem affected instead of nuking the whole tank. I don’t want to kill beneficial bacteria

    • @ladyaquatica
      @ladyaquatica  Před 7 dny

      Yup, the corals are now recovering. I don’t believe iodine will be enough for you, and remember your water is already infected. You’d be returning them to a tank that will continue to kill them.
      Once the bad bacteria is in your main tank, full tank treatment is your only way to get rid of.

    It's not a bacteria infections,are your water parameters stable and the same as before, if not then its definitely water parameters your phosphate is to high should be .1 or 0.05 - 0.1, also check your alkalinity, salinity,keep doing water changes every couple of days to reset tank,do iodine dip on lps, hopefully corals will slowly recover 🤞

    • @ladyaquatica
      @ladyaquatica  Před 13 dny +5

      Do you think I could successfully keep Goniopora without stable water parameters? I have a Trident and I conduct ICP testing, so I monitor the conditions closely. Typically, my nutrient levels are at 15 NO3 and 0.07 PO4. The recent increase in nutrients was due to the KFC dip treatment, which is a standard in-tank reaction. I believe the issue was a bacterial infection, based on the corals' response to the treatment and their current performance. Thanks for your feedback!

    • @locwong9284
      @locwong9284 Před 12 dny

      Your nutrients parameters are good before coral tissue lost, I had tissue lost on my lps due to high phosphate .3 and nitrates of 50 and alkalinity 13, I recommend before using chemicals and stressing corals more on parameters swing, just stick with the frequent water changes and yes you should have no problems keeping Goniopora as long as you don't have big swings in parameters, like any corals they will sulk stay close if this happens give them time and they will adapt and recover, for me water changes every two days seem to solve most problems if you don't know the cause. 🤞
