Condolences to Ratty for the untimely loss of a family member. Ollie, you got one good workout in on this one. Lots of steps and arm swings! I'm surprised you had the energy to get this video produced and uploaded! Thanks for your hard work! As usual, all good!
I just found this channel today. Every video is like a mini adventure. "Wheres the block gonna be? Oooo a breakage!" The ridgid scout serenades our ears. Love this stuff. Youve got a badass job. Im sure you get some great satisfaction from it.
I caught the jump cut after the blockage when you forgot to turn the water back on 😁, I was waiting for the run back to the van but you deprived us of this, probably for the best
Now that's a nasty break. Saw a lot of missing pipe there. Hoping they get it fixed. Great job, Ollie and Ratty. NY Drains found corn for Ratty today, so all good!!!
I guess a messy van is just part of the trade since all my dad's plumber clients have the same messy van😂 love your videos. They bring back good memories
@davido9208 here in England I have a special "gentlemen's precision tool" ie a hammer and when something needs a good old whack to free it up that is the application of "Bruce Forsyth". (He was a very popular presenter/entertainer/dancer/comedian/husband to Miss Worlds, who died in 2017 aged 89 after 70 years in the entertainment business.) Anyway, I use "Bruce Forsyth" instead of "brute force".
Might have to jet the jetter, I detected a bit of Ratty magic there Ollie, you marched off from the van without opening the discharge valve, despite me yelling at the screen, yet magically there was water pressure at the second reel.
Ironically, I was watching this video about 15 minutes after it was uploaded, got to around the 30 minute mark and heard a gurgling sound coming from the bathroom... The toilet and bath started to fill up with clear water. I managed to get some of the water out of the toilet to stop it overflowing, luckily. Not the greatest thing to be doing at 10pm at night. Had to call the jetter guy to jet the external drain. He said it was under a lot of pressure but it's cleared now and that it's an old 70's/early 80's 'dropper' or 'back drop' and they do often block. Sadly, he wasn't as cool and crazy as Ollie and didn't have Ratty with him...but at least I can sleep easy tonight without waking up to a swimming pool of a flat tomorrow morning :)

easy to find, just watched it. but he doesn't go into much detail of what's in the van. what I know of it, it's basically a very large pressure washer. when he turns the water off, coming from the engine, it'll build pressure in the lines (which you can hear bogging down the engine a bit) until it reaches a high enough pressure that a bypass valve will release, which cycles the water back around into the tank on top. from what I know, most pressure washer pumps need some pressure on the inlet side, but whatever pump he's using for this, it doesn't need such a thing, and just gravity feeds from the tank on top. the tank is there because the pump can at times pull water faster than a garden hose can supply. in this video, blocked drain 535, we can see the float he was working on, which is the water supply to fill the tank. when the tank is full, the float turns off the supply. you also see an elbow pipe to the left of the float which seems to be the bypass line from the pump. this water will stop flowing from the pipe when the output line is turned on and flowing, when the pump doesn't need to bypass excess pressure.
@@roughneckwolf Tiny tiny volume at that. Ollie's tank is 60L as he told me once, and he rarely has had to run back to shut down the pump and refill the tank mid-work in the jobs he recorded.

One of the fancier places you've jetted in a while. I mean, not only was there no corn, but the fountain and the golf cart to get around the estate? I did wonder if your tracer dyes were marine friendly.
I would guess the dye is mainly fluoresceine, easy to tell from the vibrant yellowish green colour and the brown-red reflective colour which is an interesting and pretty rare property it has. It's not really toxic, mostly not in that concentration, so I wouldn't worry much about the pond even if it had fish in it.

when all else fails, use a hammer.
percussive maintenance strikes again
Like an old TV, its always good to keep a wrench or other blunt object nearby in case it needs a good thump to correct the picture.
The landscapers that planted the plants could have done the damage to the drain pipe long ago, and it's just now showing up. IMO.
The official US Army term for smashing something with a hard object until it works is "percussive maintenance"
