The fact that they keep making new CP3-powered bikes but still no R9 is starting to feel like they're messing with us
The R9 is surely next to be revealed soon I hope.
Most likely going to be revealed at EICMA in 2 weeks
I'm honestly surprised they released this before the R9 instead of the other way around
@@Motoboo_Marine This is the retro version most people won't care about, like MT09 vs XSR900. Anyone interested in a retro sportbike CP3 would pick a R9 if no other choice available, the stunt/squid/instabros waiting for a R9 won't get the GP.
@@_R4nd0m. I think the people who bought the XSR (like myself) do care about it.
You failed to mention the biggest detail that makes it look better than the standard xsr900 is changing the frame and swingarm from black to silver for that 80s Deltabox vibe. I’ve put down a deposit already. Can’t wait.
I loved the half-faired bikes of the '80s, namely Yamaha's FJs and FZs, and when the updated XSR900 came out with it's long, flat topped tank, I thought that it would look perfect with a half-fairing and above the triple clamp clip-ons. It's like Yamaha read my mind! This is the coolest retro on the market. Hopefully it makes it to the States!
How could it not come to the States?! The home of Wayne Rainey! That would be a big mistake.
MV Agusta superveloce as a very 80s inspire fairing too.
Wow!! Nice shot of Wayne Rainey. This is the Marlboro livery. You see the 3 time world champ smile. Really took me back as well! Great job Yamaha. It would be a complete shame if that did not come to the states!
From the chin up...Yamaha don't want to remind potential customers what can happen when it goes wrong!
@@williamrae9954 bruh 💀💀
Yes!!! To "Stop making all black motorcycles"
I don't understand it either as it looks so trite and lame. Stupid too when it comes to visibility when it's bad enough already to be seen on a bike.
The Race Pack has also been announced for this bike. It adds a lower fairing and makes the bike look twice as good.
That paint job totally transforms the looks 👌
Great video guys.
I bought an old 88 fzr 1000 to restore a few months back simply based on my love of the styling of that era. So so excited to see these design cues coming back into style. Was looking into the Kawasaki z900 rs cafe as a potential future daily but if Yamaha ever slaps a four banger together with this styling I’d go with that in a heartbeat.
So pretty, it's been announced here in Australia. This will be my first road Bike, will sit nicely next to my WR450.
The chubiness, the shapes of the frame, these new elements, this bike is the most manga inspired bike I've ever seen. It comes straight from an Otomo or Shirow manga. 80s manga. Yes!! I went to a complete opposite direction after ownership of 1st gen XR900 and 2nd gen MT09 when the new XSR came out... but now I want to come back.
Must be nice. 🐢🔥😎🇺🇸
Z900RS Cafe = 1/4 fairing; XSR900 GP = 1/2 fairing..... at least that's what we actually called 'em back in the 80's and 90's.
In Australia we called the Z900RS style a bikini fairing
I have a green cafe z900rs. An old timer once called it a "bullet bike"
Look at a side profile of the motorcycle. Draw a straight line vertically through the middle. Draw a straight line horizontally through the middle. You have 4 sections. 1/4 fairings fill one of those sections.
There's pictures of this GP model with 1/2 fairings on Japanese sites.
Looks amazing. I really didn't know I wanted one of these until I saw it! I like the slightly raised clip-ons & adjustable foot pegs too which are clever choices for comfort & gives it a much broader appeal too. I'm guessing they might do an SP version at some point too with Ohlins & Brembo's etc.
This is already the "high-end" version of the XSR900. Likely won't be an SP version.
Hey guys, thanks for going into details with this bike, i ordered one few days ago, with the side cover and shorter plate holder, cant wait to receive it, this gona be a long 5 waiting winter :)
I’ll be adding this to the garage next to my 2016 XSR900 in Garage Steel.
Such a hot bike. Always excited when yamaha pulls out something retro or throwback inspired.
I'm not a "new bike" guy but I AM a vintage sportbike guy... OMG do I want this bike. First new bike I've lusted after in a looooong time
Its beautiful and I want to buy one when they're released down under, my only criticism is the gauges or lack there of, wish it had analog gauges. You could tuck a little screen in somewhere for ride modes etc. The Ipad spoils an almost perfect retro ascetic.
I love the GP edition in lego red/ In-N_Out yellow and I really like the cigarette-blue and sunshine gold XSR900, all lovelyt A.F. just add a comfort / touring seat...
Looks amazing❤❤❤❤❤
I'm hoping for a T9. I really thought for sure at the Eicma that announce a larger capacity adventure bike. But this is really sick
I know I'm probably in the minority here but I would have liked to see some actual analog gauges. And also some ohlins.
This looks awesome! 😍 The black version is also great just needs gold rims. I still hope Yamaha releases a R9 that would be sick.
No black version. It is grey.
The only other bike I can think of that fits the full fared retro spots bike market would be the Paton SR-1 but they are like £25k+ and not easy to come by, great work boys, recon Yamaha will sell a lot of these very pretty and appealing machines!
That looks sweet! Need a Yamaha Blue version.
All I know is I want this in Canada. Let’s go.
I saw online, someone made some XSR900 bodywork that looked like an RZ500! Totally cool!
Not coming to Canada. You would have to hire a broker to order it from either Japan or uk/eu. I’m really dispointed. I’ll have to stick with my 2016 xsr900 anniversary instead.
Love this bike. Aesthetically with its retro fairing, tail and chassis. Technically because its awesome engine.
This is going to be a hot bike. It's the only XSR that I have liked. Definitely could be a third bike in my garage
Beautiful love it
I want one! Bring them to the USA.
So when’s the video on the papio x-o coming? Got to test ride it myself and the 6-speed is rather nice 😬
this GP also has a optional lower fairing which completes the look
With the fairing lowers fitted it looks a stunner. Although not quite as cool looking as the MV Superveloce, the XSR900GP is likely to be half the price and twice as reliable. I predict this bike will be a worldwide success, and re-ignite the sports bike category.
Super veloce is beautiful but twice the price of the xsr in Belgium.
This bike isn't coming to the US right? They have Wayne Rainy in their promo vid but no don't sell it to the Americans?!?!?! I love this bike wish they sold it in the US with the track package that includes the lower fairing.
It’s half-faired.
This is sick
Lovely, though the headlight ruins the look for me. Otherwise spot on!
it is to impress old guys as seen on the ad
I like the Marlboro paint scheme
can you change display items so have a digital rpm vs. speed ? swap the two analog for digital ?
Nice work Yamaha. Now let's do an OW31 version.
100% my next bike
I want this, but I want the mt09sp too, but I also want them to make an xsr1000!
I'm going to say the two best looking machines to hit the "new" definition are the XSR900 GP and the GSX-8R.
looks amazing, I'm 59, that style will appeal to young and old, I think you summed it up, 'stop making all black motorycles',
I have a question: Will the 900 GP have the same gearing and/or rev limit as the MT09 and the normal XSR900? If so, that would really suck. I mean a 120 hp sports bike that cant go faster than a 72 hp R7?
The Kawasaki RS runs a bikini fairing! The fairing on this GP is a half faring this bike is cool AF! The price is going to be interesting! It's coming to Australia.
Team Marlboro
I love everything about. Bring it to the US.
i wish there were more colour options
I love it but ugh why did they have to use the tiny MT headlight? 😑
I’m in love
Are you guys in Colorado?
Yamaha's ZRX? I LIKE IT!!!!❤
Not every day you see Wayne like this. I’m curious if he had input on the design of this bike?
Love the look but it NEEDS a full body kit or at least a front lower cowl IMO
A belly pan is available too. I think it looks better with it.
Its called a cockpit fairing on the new z900
4:46
When is Kawasaki going to make an H2 version of the Versys touring bike.
@@astatic1 I’ve sat on it and think the riding position is still to aggressive. I like adventure bikes for the upright riding position
Very Akira esq 👍🏼
It would be, but check out Velocity-Moto based XSR900 creations like the 900LC or all new RD500
They look even better, IMO. Just unobtainable
@@HaggisPower I bought a 2019 Reg XSR from Wigan Yamaha in February and Hag turned the kit around in 2 weeks?
Can't buy painted kits outside the UK.@@rogerkay8603
Wasn’t that Kenny Roberts in the Yamaha commercial?
Wayne Rainey.
Bring it to the US
I'd rather have this than an r9
Cherish this time very young men. Ride
hd has all full fairing
I got like thirty mins till I have to go to work. I haven't eaten anything yet, and I don't think my boss will get me someting to eat. I thought I could wake up in time so I go for a ride on my motorsickle, that went out of the window. I'm just going to have go riding on Saturday. I really want some fried chicken at that sailor's house. HIs chicken is the best.
Ahw man... now i have a choice. If honda makes a hornet 1000 or goes through with the v4 fireblade patents, that will be it. Otherwise, my hormet 750 will be traded in fot this..
Lovely bike but why ,oh why Yamaha are you offering the other colour option in boring grey. That has no reference to GP bikes in the 80's. Why didn't they offer it in the gorgeous Gauloises [Christian Sarron] blue. That would make so much more sense.
Lets talk about the price. Is it really worth 15.000 Euro in Germany?
I would sell my damn kidney for the XSR1000
wouldn't you say that a "full" fairing would also cover most of the engine? I'd call that a half fairing.
XSR900GP is a much better name than YZF-R9 for this bike.
I own 4 of them. Because i can.
so needs a iron man suit for that bike n paint job lol
The chassis is not brushed aluminum but painted silver which is just meh
Close but nope. It’s a nice effort but misses so much on the real beasts tz/tzr of the day
Totally sweet looking bike . . . although the first thing I'd absolutely do would be a tail tidy. That whale tail has got to go lol.
That’s so Japanese! Nice!
Bring bike to 🇨🇦 stop screwing us with these cool models
Love that bike 🏍 but not the color
IMO all Yamaha colors suck, their "heritage" colors, "anniversary", their pastel stuff from 2021-22, etc, all terrible. Their black bikes are great..but I'm sick and tired of black bikes. That's a good thing though, every time I see a new model, the paint job cools me down.
Marlboro would be happy .. they should have payed for the paintwork.
It'd look bad ass with black frame, swingarm, and wheels.
The rear is ugly and too short, so sad because the rest of the bike is beautiful
Swingarm is too long...swap it out with an MT09 one...better looking, sharper steering
can you take off that ugly pannier seat cover to have a normal seat ?
