Welcome to Proven Power, where we take the latest and greatest in the motorcycle world and push their limits to new heights! In today's thrilling episode, we've got our hands on the 2023 Yamaha XSR900, a bike that's already a powerhouse in its own right. But at Proven Power, we believe there's always room for improvement, and that's exactly what we set out to do.
We dive straight into the heart of the transformation - installing a full Akrapovič exhaust system. Not only does this upgrade promise to enhance the bike's performance, but it also gives it a more aggressive sound and appearance.
But we didn't stop there. To ensure we were squeezing out every bit of power from this upgrade, we followed up the exhaust installation with a custom dyno tune. Our tuning process is meticulous, focusing on optimizing fuel mapping, throttle response, and overall engine performance to match the new exhaust system. We share before-and-after dyno results, showcasing the tangible improvements in horsepower, torque, and throttle smoothness.
How much power does a Yamaha XSR have? Well, take a look at these before and afters and see what your bike can do!

I'd be pissed if I paid that much money and only got 2 hp at the top but lost 2hp in the midrange where you spend most of your time. Call it ugly, but the factory pipe is good.

If you're dumb enough to think just throwing a full exhaust on a modern bike with no tune is a good idea that will get you performance gains, then you deserve to be pissed lol

Personally the bike with its stock flash is very sluggish at the bottom of second there is no power …it’s not so much the hp gain it’s the improved torque curve ! Makes the bike a lot more enjoyable to ride !

New sub here! Great video man! Thinking about buying an XSR900 soon and always like to look into this sort of stuff before committing to a purchase. Thanks for this!

Is the US version of xsr900 restricted in some way? The EU version comes with ~120bhp and over 90Nm 👀

I be disappointed with the new exhaust being nearly as heavy as stock considering the price of an akrapovic exhaust system
Enjoyed the video doe I'm sure the customer is very happy overall

Now I'm wondering what the completely stock bike will do with the flash tune alone (sans the Akro system).

We don't like doing that in general due to the risk of melting the catalytic converter. We've done that in the past and had adverse issues (not necessarily on these bikes but other Japanese bikes). But we can try that one day for sure!

fz , mt and the xsr are the same engine and my fz makes 120 hp with a full exhaust KOlightning pipe from ebay $234.00 and with mr12 fuel 125 hp Et. 9.62 1/4 mile. On this bike you have to modify the airbox for best result

The 2021+ mt & 2022+ XSR are similar but not the same, the newer ones are 890cc with different cams for slightly more torque & slightly less top end HP

Compared to a 1980s 1100, these retro model numbers are good, especially given the 1980s bikes were about 550lb, with heavy rotating mass of wheels, rubber and drive train.
