I have BiPolar. I take a mood stabilizer but also started cold showers and the Wim Hof method. It helps lift me out of the worst of the depression specifically the anhedonia symptom.

When I was at the beginning of my 10+year depression, I thought one would have to be "crazy" to pursue treatment options outside of pharmaceuticals.
Fast forward to now, I still think I'm right. You have to be crazy, and the pharmaceuticals will get you there

Mindfulness Therapy provides an excellent alternative for learning how to overcome the underlying psychological causes of depression.

After trying Anti depressants, Sam-E worked amazingly well. The problem with these talks is they do not actually have depression or have a clue of its life destroying effects. Depression is not a bad day, its Total devastation of ones life. And Sam-E has minimal side effects and is not addictive, and has no withdrawal effects. simple it works quick and works extremely well just sourcing a well priced product.

Iodine and supplements for repairing the glandular system. Hormones influence our emotions and the glandular system is the regulator of hormones. It helped me.

People will tell you how good exercise is for depression, but NOBODY will tell you how to exercise if you are depressed!
Obviously, these people have never experienced Major Depression!

It's GLARINGLY OBVIOUS I am taking to someone who has never suffered from Recurrent Major Depression or other related illness.
People who suffer can't even brush their teeth! Question: Don't you think if it was that easy people would be doing it? People Kill themselves to escape the Agony & Pain, it's THAT BAD!

This video was current and relevant in 2012; why would someone decide to show this in 2023? Amongst other trends it cannot review are the use of T.E.N.S. units with a lead that is attached to the inner ear, and the use of S.A.D. lamps when directed down at a 45 degree angle toward the eyes.

Big pharma only cares about one thing and it’s not your health but money! Psychiatry is the only profession that doesn’t look at the brain to see how it functions. No brain scans, but only a Q/A form to determine depression. Depression can come from many things, such as life changes, traumatic events, loss of a job, love one, financial problems, family upbringing, religious beliefs, genetics, etc etc the brain is a powerful tool and a perplex organ..

I have had depression all my life & I've done the majority of Alternatives, none of which had any impact. The only relief I have had is when I'm heavily medicated. I went off my meds a year ago, & it was the WORST decision I ever made. I have NEVER felt worse ......

Reach a state of equanimity where nothing disturbs you. For a relaxed life without anxiety sit on a chair, back and spine as erect as possible, hands on your lap with palms upwards, close your eyes and do nothing. Be still without moving and observe your incoming--outgoing breath and body sensations for around 10-20 minutes. Be as still as possible. Plenty of thoughts will come but slowly negative thoughts will reduce. The mind is reprogrammed to reach equanimity. Do twice daily as per your convenience. Your breath and mind are directly related. Enjoy the above meditation without expectations and your life will transform. Make it a daily habit. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

Guys some people including me were helped by antidepressants. I have general anxiety disorder, im on medication alternative therapies help as an adjuvant therapy not alone unless you have some sort of nutritional deficiency you can cure with supplements. The side effects of antidepressants are short-lived and occur only in the first two weeks of starting the medication

Electroconvulsive therapy is recognized as a risky therapy with severe side effects. It clearly has been abused in the past. Now a days it is used only as a last resort in much smaller amounts on a completely voluntary basis with many safeguards. It does work when nothing else does. Though the side-effects continue to be serious, they are not as bad as the worst cases of depression which is a cruel, cruel disease.

Must of the people in depression is due to the bad food. I reversed my depression stopping sugar, ndustrialized foods and eating only vegetables no meat no diary. Electricity is cruel comma, it's immoral to say the patient is voluntary if no one show him a real alternative to live.

    • @anamariabarbosa5872
      @anamariabarbosa5872 Před 7 lety

Say that Electroconvulsive therapy can be voluntary is the same that the suicide is voluntary, in both the distressed patient "chose" the only alternative not tested for him until now.

Well, we both clearly agree that we want better treatments.
I dealt with major depression but would not have accepted ECT. I found other ways to deal with it. Nevertheless, there are people who are in agony every minuite of their life. Their memory is just a big storm of pain and delusion, they can't do anything or enjoy anything, their only fantasy is killing themselves and their only hobby is self-mutilation.
For these people ECT is their best bet.

Psychiatrists never make terminal prognoses, do you have some other problem?
Supplements are pills, you are altering the biochemical function of your body if you are using them to compensate for genetioc problems.
I do use fish oil and I think it helps. I have not had a bout of depression for over 5 years though I still take 1 medication in addition to some supplements.
