I STILL LOVE this song.....after 45-50 years!!!! It’s on my 70’s Spotify playlists! LIFE was pretty simple back then for those of us who had just fallen head-over-heels with JESUS! THIS SONG takes me back, with a sweet longing, for that supernatural move of GOD I was blessed enough to be a part of!
In my weakness, You always make me strong All I wanna do now is praise You all day long If I should stumble You're there to pick me up When I get thirsty, I know You'll fill the cup Since I opened up, opened up the door I can't think of anything else but You anymore Since I opened up, opened up the door I can't think of anything else but You anymore In a shadow, You flood me with Your light To give You pleasure is now my one delight When I get weary, You give me peaceful rest If my life gets troubled, I know it's just a test When I get lonely, You're there to comfort me You clear the haze away so that my eyes can see If I'm distracted, You pull me back in line All I can say Lord, You really treat me fine
Love the music from my school days and my uncle and family was happy to have Chuck Girard when he came to South Africa. And yes indeed this song is so appropriate now in this time we going through as nations. Be blessed today and always pray for God's blessings and blessings 🙏
Heard this song on the movie "Jesus Revolution." So, I'm here checking out the original version. Neat song. Reminds me of the Christian music I listened to when I got saved in 1976. There is a band very similar band, it's called Malcom and Alywn, they were the first Christian band I heard back in the 1970s.
I love this song from back in my childhood! I also like Malcolm & Alwyn! If you're on FB, come on over and join the Jesus Music 1969-1989! It's a fun group!
I was a board operator at the first KLOVE FM Radio Station in Santa Rosa, California, from 1982 to 1986. We played most of the bands from that era when contemporary Christian music first started. Lovesong and many others were played at that tiny FM radio station, putting out 300 watts. You'd drive 5 miles and lose the signal. Little did we know that KLOVE would expand by leaps and bounds and would be broadcasting in every state across the USA.
LOVE this song! I was there when they first played it! In the photo above is the early version of LOVE SONG, with L to R: Fred Field (electric violin), Chuck Girard (guitar & keyboards), Tommy Coomes (curly-headed guitarist), John Mehler (in front of Tommy, drums & percussion), Jay Truax (guitars), with honorary member Lonnie Frisbee at right, on mandolin.
Was Jay Truax the one that got up in the middle of the night and wrote the music and scripture words to “give ear to my words”…..then died the next day? I LOVE that song!
@@juliewaldron2040 No, you are thinking of Bill Sprouse, lead singer and keyboard player of The Road Home (the band). Bill Sprouse had a congenital obesity condition and weighed about 400 pounds. He came up with an inspirational epiphany one night and wrote and recorded the vocals of the song "Psalm 5", based on the Bible Psalm 5. He died soon afterward around November 1975. Jay Truax, the long blond-haired guy in the photo above, in Love Song, is still very much alive today.
Thanks Ted. Yes it was Explo 72. You did well to skip your grad--I don't think there has been anything quite like Explo before or since. Where do you live? We got to Dallas from Vancouver, Canada, close to where we now live.
I came from Jesus Revolution and the fact I adore older music. I love this song. You know ghe movie Jesus revolution, when you first see it there is such a strong feeling of God's presence off of it. An amazing thing isn't it?
