The Zac and Jay Show hi I was in ur vid
Ok
Will do ye mad scones that was a banger
I'm loving this "fooling the perceptions of the bourgeois" series
See this is genuinely what performance art is... I studied it as part of my degree. Yes, I am going to be unemployed forever, thanks for wondering.
You can work in McDonalds.
@DOOM SLAYER Drama and English :)
Hahahahaha your comment made me laugh, have a good day 😁
well i think it could branch out to movie directing :)
I'm doing drama too dont worry
i kinda agree with the reddit guy, this is art, your going abstract on the concept of abstract art and challenging an established art institution whilst doing it.
Don't think they were disputing that, think it was more the critique of the value that this sort of art has and why people are prepared to pay millions for it
Nailed it
@@jackarmitage9227 Because a Gerhard Richter painting looks and is cool and you are not. That's why.
@@BritPopSnob Coolness is in the eye of the beholder
H M the point is that anyone can do it so it becomes unspecial and that is what makes it ridiculous that some art pieces go for millions
Imagine someone would have bought them
If they put a price and just left the bananas definitely someone will buy it
You can’t buy things from the tate
I think because they‘re at a museum, they can‘t sell anything there
not quite how that works, but that would be funny.
Is that human trafficking with extra step?
Anyone else notice how the paintings on the Wikipedia page change? 0:34
You found the Easter egg
Yoo that's sick I didn't even realise
Hahahahaha!🤣
The artist selling his own faecal matter actually intended it as mockery towards fine arts. He found that creating said art did not whatsoever require skills.
Exactly, the irony of someone buying someone else's fecal matter is way too funny. I can only hope that they were aware of the artist's intention.
And he made it as a joke, and when people took it seriously he killed himself
@@carlagarciacastello482 I didn't know that, thats interesting. He was also the person that made an art manifest with only empty pages, no?
Skill doesn’t always matter. It’s the idea that really matters. If you recreate someone else’s art and it looks the same you didn’t make any art at all. It has to be original and new.
Probably wanting to say art is sh*t hahahaha
boys im a massive fan, that reddit dude was so right, you trying to emphasize the futility of the art world ended up in you creating art
I get that. It's just that if these guys can make art good enough to have people interested, that shows the rest might be on the same level of bullshit and low effort.
So you then do agree that art is whatever bullshit two random guys can come up with in a few hours. So then while trying to refute their point, you've proven it ...
Funny, Art is subjective. If making smth that makes others interested then you have made art. Even if it may be low effort. What's the point of making something with effort but gets ignored as one of the massive storms of Art.
Should've mirrored it and called it "Reverse Cowgirl".
OMG!🤣🤣
you're onto something
I love how they suddenly come up with such good excuses " we love art, we are just standing here admiring that art over there while holding a bananna"
It's actually quite a powerful peice. It says to me that even though we appear different, through communication we can relate and find common ground. The black & white serves as a reminder of the ying and the yang, providing a feeling of balance and completness through acceptance of difference.
If you made it a graphical design and silhouetted people I'd probably buy it. Not for much but I'm not exactly rich!
Funny how abstract art was first created as a way to reach as many people as possible. The "first" abstract painters (Kandinsky, Mondrian, Malevitch...) were trying to get rid of any cultural references, so they used shapes and colors instead to create what would be as universal as possible, because who doesn't understand shapes and colors?
So you could say that by trying to simplify art they made it harder to understand, pretty ironic ain't it
Greed, (and born in wealth c*nts, or climbing assholes with narcissistic antisocial personality disorders) devour almost everything that was once wholesome and revolutionary.
similar situation happened with minimalism and architecture, it had a purpose but now is lost
I think the security guard actually took the pic so he could have a record of the incident, but I much prefer thinking that he enjoyed it and decided to take a pic to show his buddies
"So we decided to go outside"
Why you gotta flex on us like that?
This is genuinely like a end of course project for an art degree!
The effort you guys put in videos is not recognised enough
noone should have kicked you guys out of the gallery. you did nothing against the rules. you can stay however you want in a freaking gallery, 'pretending' to be art or not
someone please make a wikipedia page about this piece of art. it is what it is, true art
Love the fact they escort you politely and be cool with it. After all, art depends on the perspective. Entertaining video as always even during this pandemic. Can't wait for other videos!
As someone with a degree in illustration, modern art is more about the concept/narrative behind the piece and the artist behind it. Saying that I spend about at least 8-10hrs on one peace so for someone to come along and spend 5 minutes on it and sell it for billions kind of grinds on me a bit 😂
When I was back in college/school we went to the Tate and they had these people walking about in the big downstairs exhibition space. They were performers but would walk around, come up and talk gibberish to you then carry on as if nothing happened. Art is bonkers haha
Charlotte Collins modern art isnt for Everyone, though like you said modern art is a concept. If we listen to the artists behind these type of work it would be very intresting. Even though some artists are likely to make up a profound meaning
because its not about the so called art its the money laundering
Theres a reason why some could sell a blank canvas for millions whilst someone could make an amazing piece of art and theyre looking at $100 max
Modern art is awful its not even art
Which McDonald’s do you work at?
Piece not peace***
9/10 would smash
Can you imagine if the gallery asks them to come again and actually be validated art😂😂😂😂
That’s the aim!
The Zac and Jay Show truly iconic
Massive legends saving us all in quarantine with the greatest content
Modern art is all about creating confusion. The fact that it's abstract makes it difficult for people to identify and therefore difficult to quantify. Arts salespeople have been using this to drive the prices up. A huge price tag for a banana, for instance, will create a sense of insecurity in people who fail to understand what makes that Banana special. Some rich people will act on that insecurity and end up buying the Banana, or in other words, the ticket to an elite club where they're hoping to feel secure. To jack up the prices even higher, the art world relies on packaging. They will build a narrative and a sentiment around certain pieces and create an illusion of exclusivity that will attract insecure big spenders. It's all evil really.
Not really evil, kind of genius. And the only people rich enough and willing to buy modern art probably deserve what they get if they're that insecure.
Lol not that banana tho, that banana was just a marketing strategy from the gallery
@@sashoradoulov3504 Most art being bought today, is put away in tax free safe storage houses in airports, as an investment, waiting for the price to rise.
was looking for an explanation for this and this was good
After reading your post and thinking about it, I think maybe it's a reflection of what people value. I think it's kind of worrying that we value confusion, simplicity, lack of direction, at the same level or more than intricate or beautiful pieces of art that were someone's life's work. There's also the concept of the artist's fame making a piece valuable. When that happens I feel like they're just selling their autograph, if the piece isn't intricate or skillful. So I guess my opinion is that art being successful is a reflection of what we value, and I'm implying that it's slightly worrying that we value signatures or dumb squiggles, more than an intricate showcase of skill.
These guys always out-do themselves with every video 💀💀
In these tough times you should release the royal wedding video
Jacob Couldwell what vid?
Weirdly, this entire concept is probably art.
It is art
“we don’t have mistakes we have happy accidents “ guess where i’ve heard that one before 😂
why the lady kick you out? she just got a free art piece.
Rupert Vaughan nah she was just hungry
My guess would be, that other artists in there are paying somehow to get their installations into the gallery. Or maybe just because it is about principles - if you start letting just anybody in there and do whatever they want, you could get in some trouble down the line. Or the pieces in there are being carefully selected and it is just not perceived gladly, that somebody just turns the selection process useless by just setting up camp without even the slightest notification beforehand.
Rupert Vaughan oh hello there 😂
Zac and Jay deserve more subs for these masterpieces.
Love how they can chat shit and make it sound professional keep it up😂😂
It's always good to see the security being on the cool side.
"I don't know what point I'm trying to prove there"
At least you're honest
if this was a painting i would literally deadass buy it. Like i love this.
The thing what I learned about modern art is:
It can be done by anyone. BUT only the artist did it.
So it looks easy, then go out and do it on your own. Then you realize it's more behind it.
Doing something nobody else has done, doesn't make it worth millions lol
Not necessarily, but it does make it art.
Then you will realize those people had connections and your art will go no where
i did a shit on a 10 foot canvas and blew it up with c4 its for sale $999999999999
My art professor used to tell us "you're not doing it, you're redoing it". that's the difference
Sounds pretentious asf
Every modern artist out there now is just redoing Duchamps ...
You never fooled anyone. You two are actual works of art. Anybody disagrees can fight me.
When they said “So we needed to go outside” a shiver went down my spine
This is my favorite. Art Culture embraces everyone while still keeping their noses stuck up in the air.
these guys have the most well put together wholesome and original content out there love them so much x
the montage of the description was truly inspiring
Doggo nonchalantly sitting on your lap is everything 💖
I can’t explain how much I love your guy’s videos. It has so much content in it that I really appreciate and I love the effort you guys put into it. I just can’t believe you guys haven’t hit a million yet you guys definitely deserve it. When this outbreak is over and everything calms down you guys should really come to Vegas. I think there’s loads of things you guys can come up with to do here because of how much ideas you guys make and just upload it. I hope you guys read this, I’m a big fan. Peace✌️
This channel has and will always be my favorite, Thank you so much for this amazing content
One of the best videos out there, You guys are PURE ART.
Its funny how ironic it is that they actually created a live art installation that had conceptual meaning 😂😂
It's ironic that people are saying that their performance trying to prove modern art is bullshit that any random guy can make in a few hours is disproving their point because it is actually art, which they came up with in a few hours just bullshitting ....
Honestly, i love these lads.
So original and so fcking entertaining.
Luv u fellas, keep it up
I love that you are still original! Appreciate you guys!
Love how your vids end so abruptly no bullshit at end x
Your videos are really where it's at. Love it guys!
ur videos always make my day :))) love u guys 💖
You are legends 😂 absolute banger, thankyou for keeping me sane through isolation🥰
Where has the stuck inside show gone :(( we miss it x
HIGH PRICE ART IS ALL ABOUT MONEY LAUNDERING
in my opinion
what about sources? Like opinions dont mean much if its not based in some factual evidence. Not saying you are entirely wrong, just seems like youre making a huge assumption
I mean I don’t think all are but it’s fair to say that highly priced pieces of art have been used for money laundering
I’ve not even started watching this video but I know I’m going to love it.
The duality and juxtaposition of opposites in an attempt for communication, yet unable to
Coming up with bloody genius ideas and stitching up sentences from random heavy words 😂😂 You guys always crack me up.
Waw, this was actually so cool.. it was art 😂 it had a good message.
I guess it made you guy think too and research. That's a beautiful part of creating art, the journey. 🌈
Yes! The return of the cantina duppy has finally come
Ive figured it out guys
Zac and Jay + crazy idea+ Primark = success
i love that zac is wearing what he normally would and jay is just wearing what zac normally wears
Avant Garde AF. a the dog is genuinely excited for this project.
I'm gonna tell my kids this was unus annus
You mock it, but you created art that resonated with people. While your initial meaning was contrived, others found their own interpretation. Welcome to the real world of art.
The debate around what is and isn't art is valid, and complicated. The reason for the outrageous inflation in prices of seemingly nonsense pieces is not. It is Russian money laundering, simple as that. It is also why the most expensive properties in London sit entirely empty, but treble in value every year.
Best Channel on CZcams PERIOD.
Art in its true nature is something beautiful. The art market is hilarious and a problem that art has to face today.
Anyway, as always, cool video guys, you deserve so much more attention!
thanks this helped me greatly for my art exam !
Quarantine gold!
These guys are criminally underrated
i mean, you guys doing this is TECHNICALLY art
Art does not require skills, you just have to have something to say or you have to be good at making people feel some kind of emotion. Whether it’s a simple confusion, if that’s what you wanted, or anything else, you won.
Zac and Jay Show Play Mafia tournement with the Beta squad
MAKE IT HAPPEN
Love those videos the editing is fucking awesome 🙏🏽😍
I will really like to see how you guys edit. Love your style
I used to be a guard in the museum that has the Cy Twombly you drew up. That piece is actually about 9 feet tall, and its in a building built by an architect in consultstion with the artist with the specific intention of housing that series. Every day i worked that gallery, someone would say, "haha, my kid could do this," to me like they were the first person who had ever said it.
Zac And Jay are like the Ant and Dec of youtube.
0:43 fun fact: a lot of the art you see in museums are not actually worth as much as they claim to be. A lot of wealthy people will commission an artist to paint or create some kind of art for them. Then they hire an appraiser to appraise the artwork they commissioned from the artist for a large amount of money. They then donate this art that is supposedly really expensive to a museum for a tax write-off. Almost every single time, the artist is being paid very little so they do not try hard to make this art mean anything. This is why it's pretty funny when you see someone stare at these simple looking arts for a really long time trying to figure out the deeper meaning behind it because there really is no meaning
tax write-off i was looking for someone to mention this, thanks
I salute the management for escorting you respectfully. 👌
Last time I was this early I didn’t know what quarantine was
love you guys!!!
Ayyy great video I'm so happy we've got ur videos to watch cause I'd be so bored otherwise.... Always ready to be in ur videos if u want or need long shot but it's worth a try haha
You hit the market but in different way :)
blooody hell, that was was brilliant
Fire vid guys great job
For the Stuck inside show, could you make it a weekly occurrence? It would be a shame to not see them again. I reckon it didn't do as well as it should have because each episode was short. The episode were funny and creative, but i know i would have preferred to watch the videos all together in a 10-15min episode. Hope you're keeping sane in lockdown!
I love how tate modern acts like it allows people to think/act so freely etc. yet they wouldn't accept anything out of the box
So much better than when Yes Theory tried to do this :D good work guys!!
Oh my.. you managed to epitomise the essence of "Art" in every second of this video ! I wish I had a time-machine to take this video back with me for when I was at Art College over 20 years ago..
You did it all..you researched and asked yourself the question "What is Art" (the dark subject that all in art college must debate for hours... and hours.. and hours... and hours (and hours and hours) on end.. with no definitive answer (sorry Wikipedia, you can be debunked by many)
And you came up with something that "meant" something, something on multi-levels, made me think , I loved it ! Even your concept of taking the p**s but genuinely creating something that others would be interested in and take photos..
...even something that made me think, I thought you could have had a mumbled conversation with each other through your NanaPhones? too, when you said you couldn't stop laughing that idea just sprung to mind..
I got little marks for my "Contextual Studies theory assignment", after researching Art right from the beginning, cave paintings and ancient scripts and drawings, right through to the modern world, and my conclusion was , Art is human form of communication and what you want it to be (my tutor didn't like that, LOL)
I still stand by that today, and this video and your subsequent piece at the Tate reaffirms my thoughts and feelings on the matter !
Haha you guys are brilliant...
Omg I just wrote a Socratic dialogue on this a lot of contemporary art lacks skill and beauty...I love you guys💕
That's true, you guys are art
JAMIE'S HAIR!!!
wow Zac saying 'ring ring ring banana phone' really sent me into a weird Raffi childhood internet hole
An instant classic
the duality of man, b a n a n a.
GENIUS
Ring and Rang would’ve been the perfect name for this piece (Referencing Yin and Yang)
"Happy accidents" That's my nickname... minus the first word
Guys you should definitely do this during the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. They would love this kind of stuff 😉
this is great guys
i really hope i read about this in some art gallery review or something that’d be gold
You guys are art. Very creative
I'd like to think that that first security guard suspected something was up, but found it too funny to care about
