    Beautiful tractor, thanks for showing it off. Would love to see more of it

    Great video, thanks for showing off the Simplicity! The decks are what really set the Simplicity's apart from the other brands. I agree with everything you mentioned about how the yard looks when mowed with a Simplicity compared to other brands.

      Wish the seat and armrest like to come get that good more except for the seat slide all over smallest inclined you’re fighting to stay on the mower

    Thanks for the video and your comments. I have a couple of Snapper riders, but they both scalp . I think the Simplicity is the answer to the problem. I have just over 1/2 acre so the 38” deck should fill my need. I look forward to seeing more videos on your new mower

    Awesome Video! The Simplicity tractors are 60 year in the making. A former tractor line of Allis Chalmers before the Briggs buyout. Love that their still painted in their original colors! Allis Chalmers Orange. Hope Briggs comes out with a Electric Simplicity Regent and continue the Allis Chalmers Lawn Tractor Legacy!

      @Paladin Lng Mentioning a Simplicity in the middle of your Cub Cadet story nearly made me hurl.

    I purchased this exact mower today for all of the features that you stated. I own a landscaping company and have zero turn mowers, but the deck on the Simplicity is perfect for a mid-sized yard like mine and I prefer the seating position.

    I have a 38 Regent 9 years old, thing I like most is the deck slides out easy to remove and clean bottom also sharpen blades

    Thanks for the review! I was going to buy a Troy built but wasn’t thrilled with the idea. Then I talked to my service tech and he said Simplicity was the way to go. I’m curious that I don’t see these for sale at the major stores here. I had to go searching to find a dealer.

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, Simplicity only allows dealers to sell their products so you won’t find them at the big box stores. Stayed tuned for a 10hr review I have made some more interesting observations.

    I have the Regent for my 1acre lawn but it's the 25 horse with the 48" fabricated deck. Worth every penny. It cuts so evenly its insane. My neighbors freak out when they see it after I'm done lol.

      @TheLawnEngineer  Před 3 lety +1

      I agree, I'm very happy with the cut. I just got a bagger for mine, video coming soon.

  • @markolinux8206

    I had a Regent 38" deck mower, and it was getting too old and in disrepair, so I went with a newer model 44" deck. It's insanely loud compared to the older one I had! I'm thinking of going back to a 38" deck model, even if it takes longer to mow my yard (about 3/4 acre). If my dad, who lives next door, is outside when I'm mowing, he jokingly covers his ears with his hands when he sees me glance his way. :^)

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  Před 2 lety

      I know some of the modern three blade decks are very loud, they sound like a jet taking off. The increased horsepower of modern small engines has allowed them to increase blade speed. The increased blade speed usually improves cut quality if the deck can handle the airflow. The negative is the noise 📢

    Thanks for the review. Simplicity has been a goal of mine for a few years now. I just signed the papers yesterday on a Regent with the 25 HP engine and 48" fabbed deck. I REALLY wanted a 25/52 Broadmoor, but couldn't justify basically double the price for less than one acre. How's she holding up?

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  Před rokem

      Awesome, nothing like attaining a goal 👍.
      My Regent is holding up great, I had one small issue with the deck stiffener. I was able to fix it pretty quickly.

    I am supposed to be getting one of these babies delivered next week. The dealer just got some in and waiting on them to put them together, so they can deliver it. Buying a Regent with a 42 inch deck. It's replacing a legend in Big Red, my Troy Bilt. My reasons for putting out the extra scratch were same as yours.

    I had a John Deere mower. Great tractor , mower deck, not so much . All 4 corners of J. D. Fastened to tractor, not good . Didn’t mow even , scalloping also .
    I now have Simplicity,,, what a difference , wow .
    Also , J. D. Hood and grill is PLASTIC !!!! Simplicity is STEEL.
    Much better mower, yard looks great.

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  Před rokem

      He is well built and decent for a very flat lawn but scalps terribly. The “anti-scalp” wheels are all decks are a visual feel good that do little. Only way to go is a deck that rides on the lawn.
      Many older mowers had better decks (wheel horse) but Simplicity is the only option left for new mowers. Walker makes decks that follow the ground even better that Simplicity but that’s a bit of a different category.

    I have a question concerning the pin at the rear of the mower that disengages the hydrostatic transmission. It is out - but appears to be stuck. I find that really odd. I just finished assembling the twin bagger kit late this afternoon.

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  Před 3 lety

      There is no interference with mine. For reference I just measured the in/out positions. In = ~1" Out =~3.5" both measurements from the back plate to the hook on the end of the pin.

    I have my name on a wait list for a 38 regent - its winter so no rush. Coming from a John Deere LT180 with Freedom deck that mulched. Do I spend 200 and get the mulch kit? Does it mulch effectively?
    Also, I noticed these 38 inch decks seem quieter than other Simplicity - similar to my Freedom deck. Have neighbors with both and you can hear the bigger models for blocks away. Guessing the two blade sizes makes them quieter.

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  Před 2 lety +1

      You are going to love the cut from the Regent.
      I have not experimented with the mulching kit, I went with a bagger. I have a video explaining the differences between discharge, bagging, and mulching. I want to like mulching but I've tried many different mowers with it and was not happy with any of them. My grass has fine blades that lays down easily, I need the lift from high airflow to pull the grass up to cut it.
      When I try to mulch is missed at least 30% of the grass and makes a green paste out of the rest that clogs the deck.
      Also, the 38 is a pretty quiet deck, my neighbors also have some big box store mowers that sound like mini jet engines.

    Had a jd d160. Transaxile went out at 160 hours. Have a exmark radius e now and it is fantastic. if i were to buy another tractor it would be Simplicity.

    I'm curious if you were tempted to purchase the Simplicity Broadmore?

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  Před 3 lety +1

      I was, a couple things that helped me make my decision: 1. My Regent was the last Simplicity lawn tractor the dealer had in-stock this spring. 2. I don't plan on using it for anything other than mowing (snowblower etc). 3. I wanted a smaller deck for my lawn because it conforms to my rolling terrain better.

  • @alanbays5309
    @alanbays5309 Před 3 lety

    I got Elm trees. The roots have destroyed my JD z235, bent the deck inward so bad, the blades sometimes hit the deck, so I am not clear how the roller "behind" the deck saves me from hitting those, and wrecking my blades, if not worse, unless I am in reverse. I love the idea, but does it do as well as if it was "in front" of the deck, when going forward. When the grass grows a bit, they are hard to see, and they have literally bent in my Z235 deck, let alone wrecking the blades, the roots just come right back. :).

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  Před 3 lety

      I'm not familiar with Elm roots but I did some google image searches and I don't think any mower deck will hold up to mowing over them.
      Front deck rollers will push the deck up so the front of the deck avoids the high spot. As the high spot passes the front rollers the deck drops the blades on to the high spot and disaster ensues.
      The Simplicity deck is designed that the front of the deck is lower than the blades, so a high spot will hit the deck instead of passing under and hitting the blades (A hard impact will bend the deck). If the high spot is gradual and passes below the deck the rear rollers will ride on it. The rear rollers will not allow the deck to drop down until the high spot is past, preventing a blade to high spot interaction.

    Weed whack, push mow then tractor. Otherwise there is a mess around the perimeter.

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  Před rokem +1

      That is the proper sequence. I would even add blow weed whacker shrapnel out of flower beds before mowing with tractor.

  • @robcook1590
    @robcook1590 Před 2 lety

    I have a 2019 Regent with a 42 inch fab deck, my only complaint is the rear rollers on the deck, if your lawn dirt is slightly moist, dirt/grass collects on the rollers and between the rollers causing them not to turn. With the rollers not turning, every time you make a turn the stuck rollers skid across your lawn this will rip the grass out of the dirt leaving bare spots in your lawn at every turn. I have also found the deck stops will sometimes get hung up on the frame rails if you are turning across a small incline. I will give it another season but thinking of trading to a John Deere 300 series.

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  Před 2 lety

      That sucks, I have not had the same issues but I can see if you have a sticky/clay soil that could definitely build up on the rollers.
