- This video is all about Layin' the dedicated Redcat Sixty Four RC Hopping Lowrider to the ground using different shocks and other mods.
A hopper car alsways sits higher than a classic lowrider to make it hop as high as possible and handle the impact.
In this video I try to get the best of both worlds.

Jevries man I really appreciate this video you are helping me bigtime. for the ones like me who can never get a hold of the car and is building from scratch can you demonstrate have to set up the differential with gears and set up the front suspension including the hop setup?
What rim size are you running? And how do you swap them out
I used one of my old sets of 1/10 scale wheels I made couple of years ago. Removing the stock knock offs can be kinda tricky since they sit firmly in place. Either make a tube tool that slips over the knock off and turining them off or use a cloth and pliers.

When done with the extended servo horn do the servo horn touch the interior?
I was using the underlap in the rear and left the front like it is, but I just installed the light kit and I guess I need to start cutting some plastic to make it fit back together. I wasn't going to do anything to it, but just like my real lowriders, I had to start mucking with it lol. Did the chrome frame and some stuff. I figured the frame was the most time consuming for me since I don't do a lot of scale stuff. the rest would be easier to do later
At one point you have to start cutting and modifying to get the desired result. I always cut up everything because I want to create something I have in my head.
What material did you use for the gold swing bars
Is there a little more info, more pictures of how you changed the front attachment with the aluminum strip?
Should get longer ball joint for the rear shocks to make the rear lift higher with out customising the rear servo horns 😉
Unfortunately that doesn't work. It's all about the angle the extended servo horn sits at so that it still fits under the interior while making the car lay all the way and still be able to sit at a good height for hopping.

I just bought these shocks to do this mod. But was curious where did you get the antenna tubing from? Have a link for them? If not,what size did you use? I really liked how they turned out as they look so good and much better then the stock shocks 😎👍
Hi Jon, I had couple of big sized antenna's laying around and of the tubes fits the shocks almost perfect. You can also use thin alu tubing and either polish it or use chrome foil tape.

Also for the body mod you just let the rear of the body sit on the mount? The body dosent move around in the back?
Hi, I slide the rear of the chassis under the body mounts and it doesn't move around.
What are you using the extra channel for on the remote
On my 4 servo setup I use it for the extra servo on my stock 3 servo setup I use it for the sound module.

I added new wheels and replaced the front end so wheels don’t stick in. Now the issue I have is that the rear doesn’t seem to be even when it’s locked up or lowered. It tilts a bit. Any ideas??? Thanks

You need to play with the weights in the trunk and rear lock up.

No, Oil ruins the effect of the springs should have to make the car hop properly.

The wheels in the video are samples but the final wheels will look slightly different. They will come in chrome and gold.👍🏼😎👍🏼

One thing i'd change is get a set of fine servos so that the jerky nature of the up and down motion, would be more smooth. That, and add a bit of weight in the body. Not a lowrider but my BMW of the same scale moves far more realistic after i gave it about 100 grams of fishing weights distributed 40 - 20 - 40 (rear center front).
Either way, sweet mods as usual.
How do you make it bounce hit the bumper and go back down again?
It depends on your configuration. With the stock shocks for instance it sits pretty high when locked plus the extra weight makes it tilt on it's bumper and sit.
You can experiment by dropping some of the weight plates so that it becomes more challening to hop the car.

I used a set of my old True 13's I made years ago. I will have new True 13's specially made for these cars that will be available end of June.

You will need a mix of clear yellow and orange to get the right tint and spary light coats

What wheels do you use ? I've done a lot to mine but can't get it to lay on ground . It's low but I can't get it slammed . I took the spacer off top of original shock and ordered the low profile wheels from redcat . Wheels on hitting inner fender . Just can't get it slammed like yours ...! UGH !!!
And I've adjusted my end points to low as it'll go and as high as it'll go . That looks so sweet laying on the ground
The last part to make it lay all the way is dropping the body over the chassis. I can't have mine laid with my wheels as well. It has it's downside since the rear won't lock up as high anymore and will affact hopping. It all depends on what you want to achieve. By using longer servo horns and change the angle it sits at you can make it sit as high but I don't like that "elbow" effect when you lift the rear.

one more question sorry will the redcat remote work for other cars ? i built a regal with the Tamiya cc01 chassis i have fly sky 6 channel remote but dont know quite how to modify it before i do damage by trying if the redcat will work id rather get it and take the L
Hi Brian, The Redcat remote is a modified FlySky I6X remote running different firmware. The buttons and switches are mix channels to control the servo's
