That is a great kit as well as the 72 convertible kit that shares its tooling. The 72 kit also comes with the cutlass grille and flat cutlass hood

That is good to know. My Cutlass S hood has some trim piece "louvers" in it. I'm not too sure if anyone makes that hood or not.

You are gonna have to take your front bumper off to get to the hood latch... have fun if your car is rusty...

I'll have to crawl under to have a look at how the front bumper is bolted on (and rust factor) ...but that is the best solution I have heard so far.

@@monsterhobbiesonlinestore I have a ton of experience working on GM A bodys (which is why I love Mopars, LOL) and you have drop the bumper at the frame brackets and reach up behind the grill to get to the hood latch... if your car has a remote hood release under the dash like most Cutlass do, it's probably the cable that's stuck... before you go nuts talking the bumper off (propane torch to heat the bolts and breaker bar), try spraying a bunch of WD40 through the grill onto the latch and cable... good luck...

@@roberthill2219 My car has the front hood pull mounted under the bumper, so hopefully that cable isn't too far out of reach. I'll see if I can get a can of Penex penetrating oil onto all the parts I need to take off.
One thing in my favor is I also have both the 1972 GM "Body By Fisher" book and the 1972 Oldsmobile Repair Manual. In the summer, I'll jack up the front of the car and see what can be done. - thank you for helping me think this through. A lot better than someone that suggested I cut a hole through the hood to open it!

@@roberthill2219 Did you know that WD40 is actually designed for water dispersion? It was used on space rockets in the late 1950's because when the rockets got too far up into the stratosphere, the moisture on them would freeze and cause the rocket to tip over and go off course. WD40 was used to stop water molecules from sticking on the stainless steel of the rocket housings. - Check it out sometime on CZcams. .. .but it's not really a penitrating oil. that idea came later when WD40 was no longer used for the space program. the company that made WD40 wanted to sell it to the public and they stated it could do anything so that they could sell it. However, spraying WD40 on your door locks in winter will prevent ice from messing with your locks. I have personal experience with that.
