  • This video is about unboxing an old Kodak 8mm projector. This is a like new condition that I purchased from eBay. As you can see it is in grate condition with original box and manual. This is Kodak Instamatic M 68A single mode, only support super 8mm format. I think it is from late 60s or early 70s. I have one of these we bought in the early 1970's. I turned it on just now to look at some of our old movies. It still has a light that works and a motor that comes on but it is not turning the film. Does anybody know what I might do to repair it?

It might be that the belts are broken, so the motor is running on its own without moving the mechanism.

yes , probably belt is broken. But, If the belt still intact and not cracked but due to the age does not grabbing the pully try to clean it with acetone or paint thinner, some times it restore it a little bit.

When turn on the projector in play mode without film, The take up reel ( the rear one) must spin when it is in play mode (motor or lamp), in rewind mode with rewind lever pulled to the right, the supply reel should spin counter clockwise and also the take up reel should turn slightly clockwise to maintain a little slag on the film.
