I'm crying. This is the way the song is supposed to sound and its been years since we've heard it like this. DMB needs a fiddler.
Amen.. I’ve been listening to a lot of older shows lately and thinking the same thing. It was part of what defined their sound originally
Same. I don’t know why, it made me kinda tear up too. Jammin violins parts like that is what made me love them originally
For sure definitely miss em !
Couldn't agree more. This band is not the same without it. Although, to play devil's advocate, I thought the same thing after Butch Taylor left and missing keys
@@bkm_f30 ha, what’s funny is that I felt that way when butch started touring with them in 2000 lol. It was kind of weird to hear keys on songs for the first time after years without them lol
BRING HER ON FULL TIME. BRING BACK THE VIOLIN - AND KEEP BUDDY
Maybe they will… when they’re ready. I hear a man named Buddy can play the violin too 😉
You took the words out of my mouth!
The crowd went nuts when she started the solo and everyone on stage is smiling! There you have it!
it is so clear. the audience went wild. the Band felt that energy and response. Dave knows it's missing. Hire Ann Marie Simpson!
The fiddle is part of DMB no matter who is playing it. Bring it back!
I will add to the already overwhelming sentiment……this was incredible and it’s painfully obvious. The band is smiling and the crowd is engaged and most likely in awe at this moment. While most of us understand that bands evolve and I myself have to understand that Crash, UTTAD, and BTCS were albums made many years ago, I think it’s important to also realize what type of DMB music we all fell in love with years ago. It’s almost nostalgic to hear this violin solo as it’s been missing for far too long. It says a lot that DMB had been so successful for so many years. Evolution of bands is important. But just this one song on a fun night completely demonstrates what is necessary, or very important, for the band and the fans. I’m ok saying I love the “earlier” DMB albums because I also understand and respect the evolution of the band over the years. Obviously Leroi’s passing was tremendously difficult for numerous reasons and I think the band did the best they could in a very difficult time. I hope anyone who reads this understands I’m just giving an opinion…..I’m just sharing one long time fan’s perspective. I love DMB. I love the violin component. I think the band felt 20 years younger and were full of joy during this wonderful solo. In a perfect world; I’d be able to see DMB on tour with a fantastic violinist to take me back to my favorite sounds of the band. I certainly do appreciate their longevity and how they continue to evolve. This is not a critique of them at all. I love this band. Please bring in a violinist that can have this type of impact. Imagine the energy and love from the band and the fans……this was a beautiful version of a song that takes me back. Love it. Take care everyone.
100%. Don’t apologize. That was pure DMB music right there, and we all know why!
The early albums always will have the most emotional connection to me...
Ann Marie, please say yes if you're invited to join DMB! Fantastic sound! 😍😍😍
That made my day, hearing this sound back in one of their greatest and most fun of all songs… WE NEED MORE VIOLIN [cowbell]!!!
DAMN this made me so happy ❣️❣️❣️ My soul needed this.. Side note: The band needs a permanent violinist again, the energy it adds is undeniable.
I’m not crying, you’re crying 😭❤️
I was there and it was tremendous! People were weeping!! Sooooooo good!
Tim's smile says it all. Pure magic.
When Tim is that engaged, grooving and smiling..you know it's amazing
Wow just wow.
I noticed that too. What a breath of fresh air she is.
Yeah, when you pop Tim, who is generally a stoic monk, you've got something
She rocked the shit out of the song!!! In tune and everything!!!
This gave me chills. The band was really happy, too. Dave jumped about a mile in the air in the end.
Even got a smile from Timmy!
I apologize in advance, but this was FUCKING AWESOME! I can’t remember when the last show was that I was at where I heard that fiddle solo, and this brought me right back to that time and place. Absolutely incredible! Best band ever.
YES YES aaannnnd YES! Please please please add the violin back into this band!
Love it. Sign her up. Miss those groovy exciting sounds - like when Boyd and Butch would play. I would dig seeing her on stage live too. Great addition. Thanks.
she is fantastic!!
My lord do I miss a fiddle in this song ❤❤❤
The energy from the crowd is what has been lacking the last 7 years. So awesome!
0:47 You know it is good if Rashawn is in the back filming with his phone.
I'm surprised his footage didn't make this video!
THIS!! This is what Ants should sound like. Absolutely incredible!!
I could watch this all day.
Man I think this audio sounds better than the live mix there 🤣🤣
she's so good and looks so happy
This is the exact video I’ve been waiting for. Thanks Chester.
Even Rashawn was filming this moment in the background. The violin needs to come back. I'm sure it would bring some of us back to see more shows.
Get it girl! Hell yes!!! 💕💃💕
She did so well. 🥹
If this was done at SPAC....the top seats would have collapsed!!!
Chills.
We miss you Boyd. And, this is AWESOME.
Wow!
Wow. Thats how its done!
No way she joins full time .. she has a thriving classical career but as a guest she’s incredible !
I’d wager to guess DMB, being one of the 10 highest grossing live acts in the world, can pay just a bit more than any orchestra.
Jeff coffin was in a much more musically complicated band and he left for the DMB money. Never say never
Makin’ Boyd Proud!!! Saw him play this tune live in a Tallahassee dive before the PC beach sell out 😂
Keep playing DMB
She’s waaaaay better than Boyd
Sign her up
Chills!!!!
Thank you Jason
Thanks CC - that was fucking magic.
They need to give her a blank check and never look back.
😢 thank you
i believe there is not much to be said here, boy i miss this sound!!!!
amazing!!! FBMM
Thank you ChesterCopperpot5
It;s like this song is meant to have the violin solo in it. Who knew.
Saw her with Steve Vai and she is a monster player.
Mike Einziger's wife! Just found out after seeing an interview with the two. One of the greatest guitarists of all time
Holy shit really? That’s awesome I fucking love incubus
please put up entire song
Shes better than Boyd could ever dream to be. Sign her up!!!
Like others have proposed for her to be recruited full time, I'd so support that in addition to keeping Buddy on. That, and add a trombone player to go alongside Jeff and Rashawn, and then DMB will be stacked!
PUT HER IN THE BAND!!!!!!!!!
❤
I miss Boyd Tinsley so much ….. I had a female dog who I named Tinsley , she passed away about 7 years ago…. Currently I have a male jack Russell terrier named Boyd
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
SOLD. When can you start?
I'm with Dan. Bring her on! What's the problem?
I wonder if she's trying out for Boyd's position. She's good!
I almost wish I never saw this because it makes me realize just how much I miss that damn fiddle. Sigh.
BRING BACK THE FIDDLE
She is one million times better at this solo than Boyd ever was. I hope this is not a "hot take"
Well, that one solo was more melodic and musical than anything boyd ever came up with in his entire career lmao
What do you mean? Boyd wrote that solo.
@@trisin lol what? Boyd improvised the solo in that song every time they ever played it. He would change it around but it was essentially the same 4 or 5 ideas over and over for 20 years, and he didn’t ‘write’ a solo for it. That would imply he played the exact same solo or close to it for his whole career, and he definitely didn’t. All he was doing was essentially following the chord progression that Dave wrote.
Not to mention this performance is way different than anything Boyd ever played, like I said in my first comment
@@spinblackcirclesyou serious man? Everyone wants to trash Boyd. He still had to write/come up with/interrelate the violin into these songs. The band is NOT the same without violin period. No one trashed Boyd when he was in the band. Now people enjoy it. Lie in Our Graves, The Stone, Cry Freedon etc. I could go on and on, those songs are NOT the same without Boyd and a violin
The dude still had to come up with these violin parts. People who say “a high school violin teacher could play these parts”. Well, you still have to come up with them. There are more technically gifted guitarists than Keith Richard’s, but do people bash his contributions?
@@spinblackcirclesI know you are not serious because Dave doesn’t play the violin . Bye
bring back Boyd!
If she wants to... they should make an offer for her to join the band! She's phenomenal! Better than Boyd!
She's a lot cuter than Boyd.
She has a sister named Mary Ellen who’d be perfect for the band as well. I won’t see the band without a violinist because it would just seem like something is missing.
Then you are missing out.
They need Boyd back. Or Jimmy DiMartini
BRING BACK A FIDDLER DAVE!!!!!!
Bring Boyd back
And she's not out of tune!!! Sign her up!!!
Yuh know....fuck Boyd for sure. Yeah he was the OG violinist for DMB but he's a shit stain (which im sure we can all agree).....but the violin shouldnt be tainted by his dumbassb choices. I'd love to have that flavor brought back in to there live shows consistently again. I miss that sound. Granted maybe im just stuck in the past. Idk..😎🤘🤣
She's good but her style is too "classical." Needs more "Hillbilly"
Bring Boyd Back.
I refuse to see another live show without him.
Shame on DMB.
Huge, huge, HUGE shame.
🚨🇺🇸
Ok. Did you ever stop to think that maybe they aren't friends anymore? It happens. Boyd was completely checked out by the end of 2016. We're lucky to still have them.
I don't think they'd still be performing if Boyd was there. They've been a lot happier since he's been gone.
That being said, they loved Ann Marie Simpson's solo. If they don't hire her, this may be the moment Dave realizes that they need the violin back.
If they don't bring her on full time, Dave will find someone else.
But it won't be Boyd.
Sadly he's kinda lost the script a bit mate I'd love it too but he's not at the level to come back sadly.
Boyd made his choices... now the consequences. Plus, she blew Boyd away. He had very limited 'jam' and creative moments. She nailed it, but is also way beyond his skill level. Boyd was good for a time, but its past time to move on and get someone else in there.
