Frankly, I just want the Scooby Doo that I grew up with: 1969 through 1972.
🙌🙌
@@ScoobyAddicts And the Scooby of Don Messick, Casey Kasem, Frank Welker, Heather North, Stefanianna Christopherson, and Nicole Jaffe.
@@bender1958 such an amazing group of voice actors 💜
@@ScoobyAddicts Yes they were. The best.
Scooby Doo was a lot better when the first two series originally aired on CBS. And all this time I thought Scooby was always an ABC Series🙄
All the Scooby-Doo projects I own on DVD:
13. Monsters Unleashed
12. Scooby-Doo: The Movie
11. Happy Halloween
10. Kypto Too
9. Alien Invaders
8. Curse of the 13th Ghost
7. The Witches Ghost
6. Cyber Chase
5. Relentic Werewolf
4. Loch Ness Monster
3. Legend of the Vampire
2. On Zombie Island
1. Scooby-Doo: Where Are You
This was a great discussion and I couldn’t agree more with what was said here. Scooby and the gang should always be appropriate for all ages. There is no need for more Scooby if it’s going to be adult targeted. I honestly hope that either the show miraculously turns out nice and wholesome or that the show gets canceled altogether. I don’t want to see this franchise fall anymore.
I want to be hopeful, but it's so difficult when we've seen so much chaos in the franchise. Scooby and his fans deserve better!
Scooby-Doo is a fun comedy with a good mystery. Shaggy and Scooby are always hungry. That's what we saw in Scooby-Doo: The Movie and Scooby-Doo 2. So that's what I hope to see in the live action series. I think the series will definitely happen.
The only reaction I was waiting to hear! ⭐️
🙏
I'm still wondering if they'll somewhat get either Scott Innes, Frank Welker or Neil Fanning to voice Scooby-Doo!
I wonder the same.
@@ScoobyAddicts We shall see
If they do make it I hope it gets a Netflix's Wednesday treatment and less of a CW Riverdale treatment.
Scooby-Doo Riverdale could work, but not too soon after the dumpster fire Velma was.
If they make it more in Wednesday style, that would be cool!
@@jakubosiejewski9859 I almost feel like they had to try to stop the hate towards Velma so they gave us non-news by saying the live-action series might be coming.
I frankly wouldn't mind a live action Scooby-Doo series as long as they stay true to what Scooby-Doo is. That's why I liked those first two live action films. They stayed true to Scooby-Doo.
If they stay true to Scooby, I’m all for it.
Great podcast ladies as always my 1st time listening / watching it and I'm a huge Scooby-Doo fan. Now when I 1st heard Berlanti Productions was doing this new Scooby-Doo Netflix series I was like hmmmm ok this could work I love The CW DCTV / Arrowverse shows despite their flaws and issues and they have a good track record with the shows. I don't think Scooby-Doo Netflix will be CW iffy'ed but will have to and see that's the one part that worries me about this new show. And both of you are spot on with WB and their projects lately and while I am looking forward to future projects like the DCU they need to treat their IP's like Scooby-Doo better.
Thank you for watching! It’s a crazy time right now for Scooby with things like the Velma series and projects that people would have actually wanted being cancelled. It’s difficult to be optimistic about a series that may or may not be happening. We hope that they’ll respect the franchise and maintain the integrity of the characters, but from what we’ve seen lately, it’s not likely. We just have to wait and see and hope for the best!
Heck make a sequel series for the prequels.(robbie amells got a production deal with netflix with his code 8 franchise with stephen)
They wrote a script for a 3rd movie, but it didn’t get made :(
I think Neve Campbell from Scream would make a great villian in this upcoming series. She's proven she can play both the hero and the villian, and she's really good at it.
She could be a good villain for sure.
Absolutely 💯 %, with Matthew Lillard as her accomplice.
I always imagine something like that will zee if is not cw quality
I knew this fancast would come in handy.
For Mystery Inc.:
Alex Aiono as Fred Jones
Zendaya as Daphne Blake
Tom Holland as Norville "Shaggy" Rogers
Naomi J. Ogawa as Velma Dinkley
Xolo Maridueña as Franciso "Flim Flam" Rivera (from "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo")
Haley Tju as Gina "Googie" Ward (from "Scooby Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf")
Chiwetel Ejiofor as Vincent Van Ghoul (from "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo")
and
Frank Welker as Scooby Doo
For the Hex Girls (if they plan to appear):
Jenna Ortega as Thorn
Halle Bailey as Luna
Millie Bobby Brown as Dusk
Interesting choices!
Xolo Maridueña would make the perfect Flim Flam! I have to think about the others.
I have learned long ago to wait and pass judgement before things come out. sure you can look at whos in control and judge what your opinion might be based on their previous works, but until the final product is released being negative doesn't do anyone any good. Scooby Doo has been around since the 1960's, no single reimagining is going to "kill it".
Based on what I’ve seen over the past few years, it seems like WB is doing what they can to make it so people don’t want to see Scooby anymore, in turn killing the franchise. I do hope this series is good, but I do have to prepare myself for the worst! 🙂
@@ScoobyAddicts How so? They have been publishing YA novels that apparently are decent (I bought them but my "to read" pile is rather large). Their comics have been, and continue to be, very good. I get thing's like 'Scooby Apocalypse' aren't for everyone, but I rather enjoyed it.
The whole debacle with shelving already made movies is a really bad thing. But that wasn't so much directed at Scooby Doo itself, but just corporate greed being corporate greed. (Its affected a lot of the DC stuff also)
Velma sucks, but after 50 years, they all aren't going to be winners. There are people who loath "13 Ghosts" where it's one of my all time favorites. 'Scooby Doo and Guess Who' was fantastic! And a great callback to the old 'New Scooby Doo movies'. I did not watch 'Be Cool Scooby Doo' so I can't comment on it, but it appears to be in the same mindset as 'A Pup Named Scooby Doo' to bring in younger viewers..
The Supernatural crossover was amazing. And as someone who rather enjoyed the old Cartoon Network live action movies, I am pretty optimistic about another live action movie/show. At the end of the day it's all down to opinion I suppose.
Scooby's character and integrity is already dead. The Scooby of 2024 is merely a shell of Scooby as he was created 54 years ago. So they've already killed him. And giving an opinion on what you DON'T want to see (and what the company has already been churning out for years) is not being negative and actually MIGHT do some good if the people who sign on to work on the project pay attention to their audience. The time to voice concerns and criticism is BEFORE something gets made to provide the makers with feedback to consider while they're plotting a direction for the project. Being negative AFTER the fact is what doesn't do anyone any good because by then it's too late.
@@CaptainXJ what it comes down to is if they keep making shows and movies that no one likes, there won’t be a demand for Scooby. We just want to see them keep the integrity of Scooby and the gang and respect the franchise and its creators.
@@wendylovesjesusWhile constructive criticism is always a good thing (Fan outrage got us Scooby Doo and Krypto Too!), it's clear your mind has already been made up. As I stated earlier, I highly disagree with your take. The "integrity" of Scooby Doo is fine. He can be found over a multitude of media and aside from 1 TV show that was aimed at adults (Velma) everything I am aware of has been well received.
One thing I have learned in the modern era (especially being a huge Doctor Who fan) is that nobody hates something as much as it's "fans".
Of course i have concerns
Its netflix
Its greg berlanti
But i know a live action series would definitely work Cause we already Got Mystery Incorporated on Here
My two cents make it fully grown Scooby gang or the gangs in college like the orginal 1996 draft of the first film
If netflix wants to buy out holiday haunt as a netflix exclusive and relase it ala nimona i wouldnt be opposed to it
They should have bought Holiday Haunt! If someone wants a project that’s going to get attention, it will be Holiday Haunt. They could be heroes if they release it.
@@ScoobyAddicts What about Amazon?
@@jordanwright2072 Anyone that would release Holiday Haunt would be amazing. I just used Netflix as an example.
@@ScoobyAddicts Ok. Well, the reason that I mentioned Amazon is because they picked up Batman: Caped Crusader and Merry Little Batman. They were originally going to be released on HBO Max, but because of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger taking place in 2022, they were both scrapped from the service. The same thing happened with Bye Bye Bunny, The Day the Earth Blew Up (both Looney Tunes films), and Urkel Saves Santa (it was originally titled Did I Do That to the Holidays when it was first announced).
Mystery Pups was originally was going to be released on the service this summer but because HBO lost the distribution rights, it was scrapped as well.
Batman: Caped Crusader, Merry Little Batman, The Day the Earth Blew Up, Bye Bye Bunny, and Urkel Saves Santa were up for bid to be released on several other services. Netflix and Apple TV+ were among them. Out of all of them, Amazon wound up being the one who picked up Batman: Caped Crusader, Merry Little Batman, and Urkel Saves Santa for their service Prime Video. Urkel Saves Santa got a digital release in November 2023 which was last year, while Merry Little Batman got an exclusive release in December the same year and they both became successes.
After Amazon picked up Merry Little Batman, it was announced that a spin-off series titled Bat-Family will be released on Prime Video. Also, The Day the Earth Blew Up has a theatrical release date set for this Fall.
As of now, there are no release dates set for Batman and Bat-Family on Prime Video. It is also unknown whether or not Bye Bye Bunny will ever be released at all.
@@jordanwright2072 I hate to see so many projects get scrapped. It's not right.
Warner Bros all of a sudden becoming the next Disney in the absolute wrong kind of way is one of the reasons of why I’m glad that the first three Early Mickey Mouse Cartoons are in The Public Domain!
A long time ago I lost faith in live actions so I don't have much hope for this project but from what I understand in terms of Netflix, the live actions of Avatar and One Piece seem to have done well (I haven't seen them but I have seen more positive reviews How negative) then suddenly Scooby is not as bad as one might think, in my case I hope they keep the original idea (unique episodes that do not have much relationship with each other where the bad guy is a person in disguise and not something supernatural real and just a very big mystery throughout several episodes)
That would be great if they stuck to the original format. I hope the villain costumes look better than the yeti from the reunion special. lol
Ruh-Roh!
Exactly!
All I want from this project is just don't screw up this franchise. after every thing happened to Velma or Holiday Haunt it’s sucks, for this project cast, series tones or script just good enough to make me feels like “This is my gang” just like they did to Wednesday that is all i want
I don’t think that’s too much to ask for. Wednesday was a great series, if they can do something like that with Scooby, it could be really good.
On the first point made here, I think it was just testing the waters for something. These type of things get out but usually closer to production starting, cast hiring etc.. Since its for Netflix, they don't have to announce really anything until they want to. I'm not really excited for a live action Scooby, mainly because I don't feel like they'll get the right tone or make Scooby the main character of it, like they're teens but the drama isn't really about that, its their Talking dog, and the teamwork they all have together to take down bad guys.. its funny, its scary at times.. I don't think its necessarily difficult to make Scooby even ln live action good.. but if it doesn't have a specific joyous tone, it isn't Scooby to me.. my hope is it has more of like a Doctor who type vibe.. and less Riverdale..Adventures should be the main focus.. not angst.
I agree, it would be better to have it revolve around adventure and mystery and not drama and angst. I think it's so difficult to get live action Scooby right because everyone wants to focus on stereotypes and making them adults with relationships instead of letting them be friends with a talking dog that solve mysteries together.
@@ScoobyAddicts The issue is their relationship and traits, as basic as they seem are pretty defined and like iconic and so any interpersonal conflict feels a bit forced. I could live with a little relationship drama that didn't get in the way of adventures but that's not easy to pull off. Nothing should pull them apart as friends, its why it works.. can say its wholesome.. but its true.
@@LK3185. I've never been a fan of relationships in Scooby-Doo. I think the focus turns to the drama and the mystery becomes secondary. And like you said, it feels forced.
Is this separate from that live action web series? Though only one episode has been done of it so far
EDIT: You did touch upon that series, and yes I’m also very concerned about the direction this is going in…
@@raspberrylucario448 I want to hope they do something good with this. It’s just so difficult to believe they will with what we’ve been seeing lately.
@@ScoobyAddicts As a long time Scooby Doo fan and collector it actually hurts me to say that no recent Scooby news has really excited me (from the past year or so).
I really don’t like my Scooby Doo stuff getting too edgy and dark but I do have a couple exceptions. I mostly prefer to see the gang as wholesome friends who just get into some goofy cases. It’s why I keep cycling back to the original series even though some episodes do not age particularly well
@@raspberrylucario448 I feel the same way, and thankfully we can go back to those early shows and still watch them.
Fred is my favorite character and Freddie Prize Jr is the best live action Fred. The character is very charming, brave but can get scared, he can be very funny but also serious. I think he has the best styles when it comes to his outfits. He's very close to his ascots. Watch the ascot Freddie Prize Jr once said. That's the Fred I hope to see in the live action series.
Fred is a good character. I don’t think they use him to his full potential.
I feel they used him the best in Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2. Though, Freddie Prize Jr had said he would never play Fred again under WB because they disrespected him. They tried to make him take a pay cut for Scooby-Doo 2 by giving the other cast members a raise. But Freddie screw that, you've got the money to do that yourself. We just gave you that money with the first movie. He believed the other cast members deserved equal pay as him, and I don't disagree with him.
@@billymoore7182 I hate that they treated him so badly. I don’t think he’s proud of his time as Fred and that’s sad.
He regrets it, but only because of the studio treated him. I'm sure he enjoyed playing Fred but not under WB, unfortunately. He also appreciates all the fans that enjoyed him as Fred and is very aware they want a Scooby-Doo 3.
I think he did say he would return as Fred, but only if WB isn't still running the show. He hasn't worked with them since Scooby-Doo 2. He said the IP would have to be owned by a different company for him to come back.
Until i hear more im just gonna stick to the web series.the way the development process works we'll et more episodes of that before we get any concrete detail's
I hope the news of the Netflix series doesn’t deter them from making more episodes. People really liked episode 1.
Hopefully this is better than velma
Hopefully!! 🤞
@@ScoobyAddicts agreed
I love Warner Bros. I just hate who’s in charge of it and what they’re doing to their fans nowadays. Jack and his three other brothers (And Mel Blanc of course) all must be rolling in their graves right now.
🙌
@@ScoobyAddicts Thanks Guys😊👍
People shouldn’t have hate watched Velma. That way it wouldn’t have been given a second season.
Agreed!!!
To be honest I just prefer Scooby as a cartoon and I’m surprise you and Wendy didn’t bring up what they did to scrappy in Velma because I know if anyone will defend Scrappy for being a villain again in will definitely be Wendy I would like to see her Defend Scrappy 🙂
We did talk about Velma a bit, it’s actually a clip on Patreon. We didn’t get too into it though, just a 5 minute clip.
@@ScoobyAddicts cool 🙂

@@rhys171 it’s all good!!! We’re not mad at you ☺️
This is now the BIGGEST News Flash ever since anything else.
Do you think it’s bigger than Velma?
@@ScoobyAddicts Who knows, it probably depends
Although Warner Bros is nowadays treating Scooby Doo like crap, be honest with me Everybody. You think Scooby and the rest of The Hanna Barbera Gang would’ve had a much better and happier life if they were all distributed by Disney instead?
I don’t think Disney would have done Scooby well. And he wouldn’t have had all the series he’s had. As much as WB doesn’t seem to like Scooby, Disney would have been worse, in my opinion.
@@ScoobyAddicts You got that right and I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney made Velma, Daphne and the rest of The HB Girls become boring singing princesses and damsels in distress as well. I mean don’t get me wrong. I know that Daphne’s been the victim countless times, but I think I can guarantee, Disney would’ve made it worse for them.
*correction velma was never two seasons it was a single season split into two halves that aired as 2 seasons so they would have to pay extra .still shitty
No, a 10 episode season is pretty normal for streaming series. Maybe they ordered two seasons up front
@@cwillism You think that's probably the case right now?
@@cwillism No they ordered 1 to save money, then split it into two. That's been stated over many news agencies.
@@CaptainXJ where? I can't find it. Everything I see says that season 2 was greenlit after the debut of the first
@@cwillism According to Saberspark, then confirmed from a few other sources I googled (real sources not AI generated drivel): "It was a singular season that went into production even before any viewing numbers were in and split into two that is apparently a common practice in the industry that's why "Season 2" a.k.a. the second half of Season 1 was greenlit LOOONG before it even aired since the episodes were already produced/in the pipeline to be dropped on HBO Max."
