I understand why the military and the fire department would need a tomahawk. But why law enforcement?
I love how they show some crazy type of breaching axe on the pic and they list
nothing close to that
Hey, Survival Gear, where's the one pictured in your thumbnail?
@@johnathangrey3463 Well... you know...these riots are getting out of hand lol jk 😬
Instablaster.
I’m 40 years old and probably never going to need any of these yet I will find a way to convince myself it would be neglect on my part if I didn’t own one
Life is too short not to buy an axe if you want one. How many people died in 2020 from COVID-19 that had long term plans in 2019.
It's one of those things where you hope to never HAVE to use it, yet you also hope you will one day NEED it. 2020 taught us you can never be underprepared
I'm 17 years old and I have the same feeling then you
I'm 46 and living in locked down England. I think I need one of these to cut off my last Mohican.
RMJ is hands down the Best! This list is incomplete.
Winkler stands out as well. I think the list is for commercially available. The CRKT models were designed by RMJ
I totally agree. I purchased a Jenny Wren and Kestrel Feather. Can't go wrong with those! (really wish I had their Raven forged bearded axe) I would love to get a hold of an RMJ Hammer (Snuggles)
I feel like 5.11's favorite thing to do is to take everyday objects and try and put as many features at they can into it. You want a wallet? Boom. built in .22 pistol. You want pants? Boom, built in cable saw.
Thomas Skinner 5.11 are bad and weak. Use savotta
Very true. Their stuff is crap and over priced.
Lol
Take my advice, I've carried a tomahawk. One with a short handle under 16" or has no weight in the head is not as useful. You need the longer handle to get more speed into the swing. You need weight in the head to put power into the swing.
Another hint, keep the blade sharp. So pick a tomahawk of decent carbon steel not stainless.
Which would you refer
or recommend?
@@xeserupseinopelttil4574 cold steel makes a couple mine is older but I like the trenchhawk my grandson has one.
They are all so awesome! Hard to choose among so many beauties.
Very thorough presentation - thank you for posting this.
Thanks for watching!
Lol, just a collage of advertisements...
Wow!
I like the crkt!
I did my homework 5 plus years ago and opted for the Gerber DownrangeTomahawk as the best of the bunch especially for the price. You have both a chopping tool and a breaching tool all-in-one!
This is kind of a waste of time, it basically a string of advertisements without an actual comparison
exactly what I was thinking.
Correct!
I mean, OP could have possibly gotten the top 10 and just pulled the videos for us, but I'd like to see the rational and comparison being done.
Nothing long and drawn out. Just pros and cons and why #1 is better than #10.
These "channels" are weak. Super lazy way to make a buck
only #9 looks worth buying the rest are too light weight to be effective under extreme use
the 511 is just a modified corrugated roofing hammer\hatchet and you used to be able to get those for like 5-6 bucks at the surplus stores everywhere we used to buy then and cot them down to just a little hatchet then buy another cut the hatchet head off and weld it to the other and we had 10 dollar double head hatchets for throwing
I have one of these “Tomahawks”. Was gifted to me. It looks badass & I’m sure it was fairly expensive. It’s home is under my truck seat in the event we have a zombie apocalypse.
The $10 hatchet with the wooden handle is the one I actually use tho...
American gear is good.Estwing for me for the past 35 years .....great.This video is amazing .Came across by accident.
When you put holes in a blade you make it weaker and if it isn't full tang then there's a breaking point in the handle.
4:44 The Operatr ax is a good product, well made, I can recommend it for your car tool box. Hell, I'd recommend it for residential remodel, (Light low damage demolition where you want to put nice trim behind it, and recover usable lumber) and frame carpentry. If you're planning on scrapping sheet metal from cars, or stripping ruins for copper to recycle. Urban Survival, and scavenging, that kind of thing. You can even lash it to a handle as a warhammer/pollax if you want to. Hands down the most useful product on this list.
I've owned United Cutlery for 8 years. Amazing!
4:40 is the best one in my opinion, anything with a spike on the back is out the window.
That feature of being able to cut through car doors makes it invaluable, but you do have a sheathe on the bottom that looks awkward.
Lovely
Which one of these tomahawks can have its pointed end pierce or puncture a 55-gallon steel drum?
Left out ‘THE BEST’ Hawk ever - the RMJ Eagle Talon!!🇺🇸
David A. Moore naw man the krestal is the best ;) love my Berserker !
Turkish axe " teber "
☪️🇹🇷☪️☝️☪️☪
500$ for thawk? wth?!
@Murat Gadjiev why not? if its properly made you can use it as light axe/hatchet and hammer. but most on market are "tactical" ones, which do have limited ability to be used for bushcraft. but in the end it comes down to user and his proficiency with his tool of choice.
Too bad they don't make them anymore.
This is the best review in affordable Tactical’s I’ve seen.
The suppliers that don’t include a hardcore belt securing holster should be ashamed of themselves. Any axe endorsed by the spec ops community that hasn’t been field tested in war is embarrassing,
That being said I still come up scratching my head.
Downrange hacking thru twine dunno what kinda twine gerber has lol the rune is nice shape crapish steel?
Haven't used Gerber since they sold to Fiskars in the 80s. Edges chip and rust far to easily for any use in an amphibious setting. For reliability and budget, the SOG Tactical Tomahawk weighs in at $50 or less on Amazon - throws well, but the cutting head is small. It's still my go-to bday gift for a platoon member or going away, etc. I did check out Hogue (the 1st one), to support a fellow Recon man - but every hawk they have is out of stock. CRKT also out of stock.
👌 good
I see the Outland Multi-Mission Axe from the thumbnail didn't quite make the cut... 🥴
Just a question, doesn’t a reduction in the head’s mass also reduce its angular momentum, thus a reduction in the force the can be applied?
This is true.
It's just that most people are stupid.
Susssshh it no matter
But it's tacticool 😂
Lighter weight = increased head speed. Like different weight baseball bats. Is increased head speed better? Maybe if you have to defend yourself with it. Could it be for better balance, for throwing? For chopping, you are probably right.
@@voodoo7008 I hear you. But physics states F=ma, so the force delivered will increase with increase acceleration, not speed. But force will decrease with decreased mass. So there is a balanced. But you are right in what a given person can handle. I've know many baseball players who did very well with a heavy bat, while others did the job with a lighter bat. So, you are right that I should not leave out the person in the equation. But, as was stated in the video, physics trumps their claim.
How can you have top ten tomahawk list without RMJ Tactical on the list?
Technically, the CRKT are his designs, just commercially available
RMJ tactical tomahawks start at $500 and go up to $900. I will settle for 2nd best.
What model is the video cover? Ironically that's the only one not covered, or did I miss it?
Okay 00:31 number 1 you said it has skeleton built frame to eliminate top heaviness, but in a ax, war, hammer, tomahawk, or hatchet that is where you want the weight to be. It helps make cuts deeper and hammering easier because of the weight. If you want something light you get a knife for cutting shaving or slicing but a ax or hatchet is made for chopping and or hammering which requires weight to be more efficient.
I got the last one on the list.
J’adore m48
I have just Gränsfors and hate tomahawks but keep watching because over enthusiasm in advertisements is my thing! xD
Please tell me whats the last SOG tomahaek song! :O
All those shar beards are an accident just waiting,i have m48 tomahawk from united cutlery, i had use angle grinder cut about inch of beard off,if u need these for survival id recommend do the same!
If you combined something from every one... it would be perfection
I like 6,7,9,10
So, how does an el cheapo tomahawk from UNited Cutlery appear above so many others of much higher price?
That tomahawk looks so cool. Thanks for watching!
Number 10 the SOG is stupid sharp my dad bought one and I went to pick it up from the head (idk why lol) and the spike cut my finger to the bone just by picking it up.
That 511 is awesome. When I can find one I am going to get one. Thanks!
I got an SOG Fast Hawk for my wife, and an Estwing Black Eagle for me.
Esas allá son mejor de lo mejor 😎
What's the brand on the cover of the video ??? Anyone can tell me thanks
Top 10 list of Limited Brands
I'd like to have it all!
Me to
I kinda think the 5.11 needs less bells and whistles and some handle scales...
Same thought feels like most of these are made for hot areas of the world none designd for winter and minus 30 weather
Were can I buy one.
No RMJ Kestrel or Bawidamann? Then this video incomplete
I want a tactical spoon 😊
I own the SOG tactical, and like the other SOG's on the list I'm worried about handle design. The semi tang with support colar is a good idea and so far so good but i feel it will be the weak point of the hawk in the long term.
I like the weight of it though. As light as a wooden handled cold steel hawk. I wanted a easwing hawk but it's not light but will never need a new handle.
The Estwing Black Eagle is only about 5 ounces heavier than my wife’s SOG fast hawk. It surprised the hell out of me when I got mine. I got a custom kydex sheath for mine as well.
5.11 looks a lot like a dive knife I used... many years ago.
I wonder if these are legal to be used as throwing weapons(for fun not fur hurting people:).) in the netherlands
What Axe is pictured in the thumbnail? I’m looking for an Axe/Hatchet that comes with a Hard Case/Sheath or head cover.
That's the Multi-mission Axe from Outland Equipment. It's quite awkward that he clickbaited us into the video with it but didn't add it to the list, shame, he missed a thumb up in this one from me for that.
Had one of these and didn't even know it? Sadly it actually got a bit wobbly about a year ago.
1,4,6,9,11
What's the axe on the picture?
What's the one in the thumbnail?
Where can I get one
imma hatchling look to upgrade ma hatchet
@ 3:35 they sell these at tractor supply for $20 lol
Does it cut wood, can you bang in tent pegs with it, what else do you need.
A welding torch, car can opener, flashlight,Pez dispenser.
Me: trying to sleep at 2 AM.
My brain: look up some combat axes on CZcams.
Be careful with the m48 I had bought one from budk when I was younger. I got to throwing it at target i made the other day and broke the handle within 6-8 throws. United cutlery was awesome though and sent me a new handle for free no questions asked. I’ve thrown it again a couple of times and still going strong. Going to reinforce it with some tape here soon.
I have 4 different M48 Hawks (different handle colors) and throw them from 25' daily without fail. No errors yet.
What about Fiskars? Indestructible, light, sharp, affordable.
I go my American Tomahawk before Cold Steel bought them out. It is a drop forged axe head on a synthetic handle it is quite the wicked hawk. The only problem is that in Texas, Hawks are illegal .
United has a full line of M-48 tools. I have owned an M-48 Ranger Tomahawk for years. I liked it so much I bought 3 more for my sons and another for the "Go Bag".
RMJ USA !
Need a tomahawk that I can use as a throwing weapon also
SOG over RMJ Tactical? I know RMJ is out of most people's price range but none of these could come close to a RMJ.
by chance does anyone know where I can get a tactical Frisbee or boomerang?
Cold Steel
the best hatchet will allways be the leather handled estwing. .everything is perfect, and nothing else performs as good as an estwing
How to buy
Wheres the spyderco szabohawk or warrior hawk
A combat Tomahawk should have a strait axe head. The curved blade could easily get stuck into a Charly. Taking a couple valuable seconds to rip out. I'd build one a little wider to the back and narrows towards the front so you could still have a decent sized blade with easy removal.
You need a massive and sturdy with long handle to do some real chopping work. For throwing use, you need a well balanced axe that can rotate well and penetrate target. Unfortunately mix use tools often not offering either well chop and throwing function.
That's why they're called tactical tomahawks.
No RMJ Shrike, Tallon or Kestrel?
E-swing black eagle,nuff said

Can anyone tell me what is the name of the tomahawk on the front of the video intro ???
It's the Outland Multi-Mission Axe 1502.

Which is the one in thumbnail
that first one is purdy
Can buy a crib axe does same and cheap to buy at hardware store
Did an Amazon search, rmj eagle talon is not available on Amazon and may be why it's not on this list.
@@midoribookstore 🤣😂🤣😂
Anything made of tool steel is the best along with DLC or Cerakote are premium only.
Fail. No COLD STEEL Trench Hawk?? Yikes. That axe is a beast.
I am surprised not to see a cold steel tomahawk on the list.
Right? War Hawk, anyone? Or the vietnam tomahawk?
Hogue axe- $250.00 plus. Pass. My Estwing has done flawlessly for thirty years at a fraction of the cost.
That thumbnail got my attention tho

The price lost my attention.

Excelente!! Como faço pra adquirir através de um representante?
Obrigado.
Jose Maia ou José. Deixa te de merdas.....come mas é mais um pastel de nata ...😉
Loud terrible guitar warns you of mall ninja larping hawks. A hammer poll is so much more useful than a spike. Unless it's for throwing or climbing like a boarding axe definitely get one with a hammer. I love that the 5.11 is based on a harbour frieght style garbage tool.
To qoute one famous face of gaming. "You can do a lot with a hatchet"
And even more with a tomahawk :))) Thanks for watching!
Is that a Tarkov reference?
@@radeni wolfenstein, actually. New order to be specific
Mr de witt.... Mr de witt.... Open the door! Bring us the girl and whipe away the debt.
I’ll put my RMJ Eagle Talon up against any of these... SOG took a dump years ago and never recovered along with Columbia River.
Awesome, love the skeleton frame for weight reduction! Unique, well thought out, scabbard. Never choke up on a hammer, any tool for that matter. Unique, well thought Unique, well thought out, scabbard, scabbardSo, no reason for the GO10 grips by the cutting/hammering head, and it looks great!
What’s the one on this thumb nail
The one in the thumbnail is the Outland Multi-Mission Axe 1502.
outlandequipment.com/multi-mission-axe-1502/#product-tab-desc-112
The first thing that needs to be said is that, any Tomahawk axe knife prying tool that doesn't have a Full Tang handle is insufficient for its job. Glass-reinforced nylon handles and all of the items in the name are breakable. Now that being used as a coating for Full Tang would be awesome but as a handle bolted on by two or three screws it is subpar.😒
SOG and CRKT twice? But no RMJ??... 🤔
Schrade, basic, useable, and worth its price. The rest are trying to be cool.
Been throwing my shade for years now and I’ll tell u it is tough!! Blade holds the edge as well.
Best one on the market.
@@gharrett2092 never had any problems with CS either. i'd never pay over 50$ for Thawk. for me its TOOL not tacticool weapon slash tool.
I just got it because it’s a full metal handle. It’s welded in the middle but I throw them for fun and I figured I would have less of a chance braking it. So far so good.
