Hey! I know that this was posted 9 months ago, but figured I'd mention this. The journal bearing CXRacing turbos are horribly riddled with bearing and lubrication issues. Better off gewtting the same exhaust side housing and compressor housing size turbo from CXracing but with the ball bearing option, better longevity and reliability. Looks like fun nonetheless!
Hey thanks for the suggestion! Also really appreciate you taking your time to watch the video! I hope you decide to stick around for the long run.
If you would like to take a look at my channel, follow along with the build. I have since changed turbos to another turbo from speedway motors. It’s been on there for maybe 7 months now and it has been flawless.
I rented a dyno this coming Saturday. Excited to see what this thing will do. Going to be cleaning up my fuel table some more.
Very exciting progress. Looking forward to seeing that thing spool up. You also said that you were thinking about replacing the motor mounts. If so, now would be the time to do it, before bolting everything in. At least on that side while you have easy access.
Yea, i have definitely been thinking about it. However I wouldn’t feel right just replacing the one mount. I will inspect the mounts closer when I have that side off to drill and tap the turbo drain into the oil pan.
They really didn’t leave a lot of space for the downpipe. It looks like it’s gonna be fun though
You’re definitely right! I was looking at it closer off camera and it it’s definitely tight back there. Hopefully it will be ok.
I’ve done this setup before but on a gs300 running on stock ecu I spliced together sensor 1s at the ecu and left sensor 2s alone. When I do this again I’m running a log manifold instead because I did have issues with the turbo drain hitting the runners and it cooked one turbo. Learned my lesson and went and got a pump but it was mad annoying
Yea the drain position isn’t the best. I have my sensors merged as of now as well. Thanks for watching! Appreciate your time.
@@Knownworldwide for sure are you running a fuel return? And boost limiter?
@@BongoisaPyro running a fuel return with a Deatshwerks FPR. Haven’t gotten around to installing an engine management quite yet. The build is very new. If you check back a few videos you can see the progression.
@@Knownworldwide nice. Good looks
I know you're tapping the oil return. What are you using for the turbo oil feed? Sandwhich plate?
I am using the sandwich plate that came with the CXracing kit. Thanks for watching btw.
Yeah the turbo is too close to break lines I wonder how the break fluid temperature was affected compared to stock setup
You need to run a turbo blanket and wrap the manifold. Definitely check out the other videos if you get a chance. Thanks for watching!
Just finished mine amd runs normal and just a suggestion get allen bolts for the turbo as it will make it alot easier to install👊👍
Thanks for the tip! I did order some studs from PLM. I’m hoping they will work but we’ll see I guess. How is your car running?
Car running fine rn gapped the spark plugs to .028 cause was getting a misfire
@@edgarrojas9628 I would definitely recommend running a step colder plug. If you haven’t done so already. Could be pre-ignition. Are you running this exact same setup? Manual or AUTO? Curious to know what you’re tuning it with?
@@edgarrojas9628 Have you had it on the dyno?
Its auto and stock ecu rn just debating on aem infinity or halltech and about the dyno not yet dont live close to any local
Do you think this would be easy enough for a 16 year old to do, or would i be better off taking it to shop to do it
First off, I think even being interested by cars is a win for you!
Secondly, this work is definitely so able by a 16 year old who has enough patience to do the work. The work isn’t really hard, you need to take you time and make sure that you have everything you need before you start the project. Also understand that you’re not gonna be able to knock it all out in a weekend.
Appreciate you watching the video, feel free to check out the channel and I hope you decide to stay are for the long run. Feel free to ask any questions on any video. I will do my best to help you out.
@@Knownworldwide thank you 😁
@@Knownworldwidehey I’m gonna try installing my turbo on my is300. If I get stuck do you mind giving me like one of your contacts so I could maybe call you if I need help?
@@kiraproductions6607 if you click on the link in the description to my other channel, navigate over to the “about” tab. There you can reach out via email.
@@Knownworldwideokay cool. Can you send the link to your kit?
So you recommended getting this kit without the turbo and waste gate? What about the upgraded version they sell? Is it worth it or just get my own turbo and wastegate
I mean it’s really your call. It could go both ways. I know my turbo failed within 150 miles. Just started leaking oil everywhere. Not to mention the turbo drain situation is not even close to ideal.
On the other hand, I know of a guy with the CX turbo that has been ok for 2 years straight now. Guess he got lucky and I didn’t lol.
Personally IMHO, just buy a different turbo and wastegate. You can save the $280 and use it towards another turbo. The turbo I have on my car now cost me $280 (I think they are $350 now) and the waste gate I have cost me $100. Both have been on the car for the past 4 months or so and they are working great!
Wouldn’t even waste your money on their “upgraded” turbo.
Appreciate you taking the time to watch the video! Definitely check out the channel and follow along. Lots of useful information in the videos bro. I will also try my best to help you out with any questions you may have so far.
Where do you buy the turbo I have the same car so I want to start working in my car ???
I purchased the Cxracing turbo kit. If you check out my channel, I go over the cost involved
I’m excited and it isn’t even my car!
I’m very excited to get it up and running. Should be fun
U need to point the cold side of the turbo down..ur turbo drain line needs a 90 degree fitting so it can go around the turbo n manifold
Gotta watch the whole video man. Not just the beginning.
Will this turbo kit fit the rhd toyota altezza gita?
I don’t believe it will because of the steering linkages that would get in the way. You might want to check their website (CXRACING) and check to see if they have designed a kit for the RHD cars.
@@Knownworldwide okay thanks
ecu master black
I would love to do this but I plan on converting to a manual transmission so wouldn’t make sense to pay thousands for the Black only to not actually need to use it. I think I want to use I Haltech or link after converting to manual.
Thanks for the tip! Appreciate you taking your time to watch.
@Knownworldwide yeah I'm currently going through all your videos now, my wife wants to boost her is300 so I'm learning and sharing on the way currently on the oil drain vid lol
@@adorno1010 wow! Well I hope you decide to stick around. I will be pulling the transmission in the next video to shim the auto transmission.
The good ol chop the bolt off lol
Haha, bro that bolt about had me wanting to burn the car down. Same thing when I had it off before. I had to cut it.
