- In this video I show you: How to Rescue a Netgear Router in the event of a failure to boot. This is the official procedure recommended by Netgear to rescue the majority of Netgear routers after they fail to function. I used a Netgear R7000 Router in this video and I also tested this on a R7000P with success.

a 30-30-30 reset fixed my AX1800 but your videos led me to the info I needed and now I know how to properly reflash it if it ever does brick itself again! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos!

Okay well I tried it, followed steps but no beans. My Netgear R7450 router has the white flashing led of death and when I plug an Ethernet cable into a lan port that ports led lights up dim white but then soon turns off. After changing the ipv4 settings to manual and entering the ip addresses exactly the same as you my router won’t respond to either IP address ping…. Any ideas? I’ve tried factory resetting it, same results

After recovery do you suggest upgrading FW manually 1 by 1 to latest version or its ok to directly put the latest file. (Sometimes auto update feature don't work on routers)

Hi Richard, what happen is neither of the IP addresses work? Both CMD prompts failed to get anything back, after trying both addresses you call out in the video. I am trying to unbrick an XR500.

My R6260 don’t blink power led, just turns off after a few seconds. I made the same (ipv4 static and downloaded tftpd64 and the first version of the firmware and wait the 4 minutes as the page said) but my router still dead... any other idea to unbrick it? I tried to 30-30-30 and didn’t work...
stop with the blabing and get straight to the recovery process

@@richardlloydusa I got it to work. I manually reboot system then ping on all the Joan’s still nothing so I tried the ping thru WiFi. It wasn’t bricked. Some how the ip ádrese from the vpn I delete it causes all ip to be the same so I had no lan but WiFi was working. I don’t know if that makes sense but that is what I dealt with.

At about 12 minutes in when you hooked the computer up to the router. When I did it, I got a solid amber light, not red. Am I still able to proceed?

I keep getting dos attack rsp scan when I look up the ip address it’s from legit company like google or Facebook so how do I prevent it coming up like that

nah it didn't worked for me, I did all to the perfection but when I pressed "Put" it says "block #0" and anything happened
Strange that you think so. It's been pretty good for me. I mostly use third party firmware called DD-WRT and it's been pretty solid. I suspect you are using the stock firmware that I have heard is not the best. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀

You could have a bad cable, bad port or bad network card on your computer or any combination or all problems at once. Check the cable first or just try another then try a different port on the router (even the WAN port if not of the others work) then try a different computer too. How can we do the same thing on a Mac computer
Sorry I don't have a Mac to make a video on that (might have to buy one) but there is TFTP server software available for Mac www.intuitibits.com/2019/06/01/transfer-tftp-server/#:~:text=Transfer%20is%20a%20reliable%20and,or%20to%20a%20remote%20server and the network configuration would be the same on the Mac as far as what you need to modify. Give it a shot and tell me how it went.
Hey Richard, ant chance you can make a video on unbricking a Nighthawk MR1100-100NAS? or point me to a procedure for doing it? I did a factory reset and something went wrong and it will not recognize any admin password and I cannot access the interface as a result.

Hi, when I downloaded the firmware from the Netgear website, the compressed (zipped) file consists of the Release Notes and the Disk Image File. I don’t see the chk file. Is there something I can do to get the chk file?

Is your power light blinking and have you done a hard reset on the router by powering up the router and fully booting it then pressing the reset on the back with a tooth pick? Press it down for 7 seconds and release. Thanks.

It seems to work when the "official" rescue does not. Don't worry too much about the IP address as the program does not really care. What I used in the video. Tell me if it worked.

I am only able to connect with router via ssh through wifi connection. is there any command to enable LANS ports ?
I'm not aware of any such commands but if you have access through SSH then this may work for you: community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/Recover-a-bricked-netgear-R7000-through-serial-interface-and/td-p/2228043
If you can't do it with SSH try a serial recovery. I have never done it but you don't have much to lose at this point.

Is it suggested to update fw 1 by 1 to latest or its ok to directly update to latest version?

Hello, I have a TP-LINK ARCHER C6 V2 (US) and I flashed OpenWRT custom firmware on it since the stock firmware took too long to log into my PPPoE profile. I did that successfully but the custom firmware limited my wireless speeds by 50% for some reason and so here I made the mistake of trying to flash the stock firmware back directly from OpenWRT and my router is now completely bricked, it does boot loop or anything like that but the power LED stays on. It does power on but does not output any IP address. I have tried a couple of your previous videos made in 2015, 2018, and 2019 but nothing seems to work. TFTPD does not pick a log from the router as I suspect the custom firmware completely wiped the previous recovery methods. Watching a couple of videos on youtube indicates that I can use a TTL CP2102 module to directly connect to the router but I do not know how to do so. I have purchased said module. If you could please make a tutorial on how to fix my router model, I'd be extremely grateful. The router is in good condition and I do not want to buy another one yet. Please help me if you can. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.
I have a video on how to serial recover an Archer C9 czcams.com/video/fme7kwTkttk/video.html but I don't think it's compatible with the C6 but at least you can see how to get it all set up and the mechanics of the procedure. OpenWRT has a page with a debrick with serial here openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer_c6_v2 which may help. I don't have a C6 or I would experiment with it. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I have already watched pretty much all of the de-bricking videos you have made for a TP-Link router including the Archer C9, and although I can follow your steps very easily as your videos are remarkably descriptive and easy to follow my router being the US version has different commands for recovery and the guide on OpenWRT is really brief, presumably for people who are already well experienced in dealing with such issues. I tried to reset my netgear nighthawk xr500 admin password by doing three factory resets. I did it by holding the reset but 7 seconds.

Had that same router it was the biggest peace of junk waist of money.
I have not had any real issues with it (other than the ones I created) but I have not run the stock firmware very long. I have heard complaints about the stock firmware perhaps that's what you were running. I run third party firmware (DD-WRT) on it with pretty good results.
