Kit Carson was ordered to shoot the old man and his twin nephews on the side of the bay at San Quentin. Famously said “Mr. Carson Your Duty!”
His children in Sonoma had to barter for the return of his serape.

1 Important Factor Left Out: Coastal States would have a HUGE ADVANTAGE when it comes to Trade because other countries such as Spain for example could access their coastlines and ports without having to pass through other countries.
Land Locked states would have to likely pay taxes to each and every country that their Truck Drivers go threw. They would also have to pay coastal states for using their ports.
Now farming states that produced a lot of the US's Food may have a leg to stand on. Also states with natural resources like oil and gas. But what about states that don't have much to offer?
Some states Will need to profit off of Parks, Tourist Destinations, etc... There would be a lot of creative solutions needed for each state to survive and thrive.
This would be a great activity for Students and Adults as well. It would force team building and innovation.
    Great Video Topic!

Most of the Midwest would be fine. We have access to the Atlantic via the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway, and access to the Gulf of Mexico via the Mississippi River and its many tributaries. It's the breadbasket of the country and there are large coal and natural gas reserves. Population wouldn't be a problem as most Midwest states have at least one metropolis on said waterways: Chicago, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Milwaukee, St. Louis, etc.

Nope, the republican states would unite, giving them the entire southern seaboard. Then it would be republicans verses democrats. The republican area would immediately get rid of welfare benefits, causing every welfare recipient to flee to a democrat area. Along with almost all of the minority population in republican areas. So a place like Mississippi goes from the largest black population per capita, to the whitest area in America. Next those republican state would get rid of all business regulations, and business taxes. Causing every business in the United States to make a decision. Do wish to remain in a over regulated area with an outrageous tax rate, or move to an area with no regulations or taxes. Which isn't really a choice at all, they'll pack their shit and leave. Then those republican areas pass a law saying "all people moving to our area won't be allowed to vote for 100years. Basically preventing the democrats from moving to our area and out voting us in our own land. That's what would happen.

    • @cdjhyoung

@@benn454 I have a more cynical view: the states that border the Mississippi River south of the Great Lakes states will be struggling to find an economy that works for them. Tightening their hold on the the Mississippi transportation system might be viewed as their Golden Goose to flesh out their treasuries. Same goes for the the St. Lawrence Seaway to a lesser extent. It will take some skillful negotiations to keep the Great Lakes States with good access to foreign markets. I would think recruiting a sea port state in to the Great Lakes states union would be a early goal for the GLSU.

Fun to think about and great video but more likely to happen is you'd see the nation split up into 3-4 nations with the south becoming a Nation, then the East and West Coast both becoming separate nations, and maybe the mid west becomes there own but since they'd be land locked they would probably split up to the closest coast or new nation.
