    THANK YOU 🙏🏻 I’ve been advocating this vision on education for the last 6 years. And I’ve opted out, teaching my daughters about STEM and ICT, politics and finance. Above all, I teach them on ownership, leadership and integrity. Psychology and communication skills also add to the curriculum at home. Next to going to school, teaching them all the extra stuff through play, deep conversations or writing music, while baking bread or pie… being present as a parent is so important for the future of humanity, We really need to stick together and take care of each other.

    I've been working on climate change for 40 years and just found out that 96% of mammals on our planet today are humans, cows, goats, pigs, animals we have domesticated. Great to see Seth focused his skillful heart on climate crisis. His solutions are right on. Bucky Fuller said to change the world, create a new one. Thanks for humanizing us all with your listening and sharing Rich. The weave with trauma drama of addiction to alcohol, oil will indirectly help a whole generation of addicts face ourselves.

    Thank you for hosting this podcast with Seth Godin which, is my first visit to Rich Roll and indeed there was lots of valuable elements to the conversation. However, I have to ask some STRONG questions here when it comes to the climate change elements discussed and saving our earth. I got the old story about the whale oil process and system - great! Or not so, as it happens!! Made me see the point about us all using oil too cheaply for so long and why we have been duped. However, I would ask if Seth wants to create a BIG 'ripple effect', then why didn't he put out the Climate Almanac book as a free download to catch as many people as possible? Does he respectfully really need the money from it, or for it to be printed up and sent out for people to flash around on their expensive coffee tables and shelving? Do they even really read it, let alone check if its factually correct! Why didn't he write a book about addressing the fact that too many people in the USA are eating far, far too much beef and thus stop all the cattle they breed there and the subsequent massive health issues of total over indulgence and obese, unfit and unwell people that create profits for Big Pharma? Why does he not talk to, and join forces with someone like Dr Steven Greer who KNOWS that clean cheap energy systems exist already but are being openly stopped by US and other governments because they are all making too much profit selling the oil they still help dig up with cheap labour, yet he tells the poor people who need to use it to keep warm that they are buying it too cheap!!! Write a book about that. Why did he not address the daily solar weather impact on our earth, particularly now, and despite how much we each try to clean up our own act by buying expensive paper bags for our yoga mats, (NOT) for example, the plasma and proton fields hitting out earth and changing the slip streams from where they should be organically, is far more of a challenge than a few cows. This aspect of Seth is really off track for me, in my very humble opinion, and is very disappointing and maybe he should stick to teaching writer and marketers. Sorry for the rant but this made me so angry. @sethgodin

    This man has a great take on how to live the best life. He talks consistently about disempowerment - in government and in education particularly. And yet, and yet and yet ..... he said that the first thing you do when you have a fever is reach for the Tylenol - there in that one sentence he completely disempowers the body. What is more disempowering that thinking to have to whack your fever on the head and you are unable to do that with medicated drugs. Fevers in the body - they are part of the body's defence system to rid the invader and are manipulated at your peril. As long as the fever isn't really high (104+) then you should be reaching for the water, Vitamin C, Vitamin D3 and Zinc and for your comfy mattress and some sleep. Your body knows what it is doing - leave it alone.

    @BrandonMLarson Před 3 měsíci

    45:45 was a masterclass of systems by Godin and, in a rare showing, highlighted Rich's lack of systems understanding plus bias. The concept of the "education being constructed to create compliant workers" incredibly oversimplifies a complex historical pathway. If you read the full details and report of the Committee of Ten (1892-1894), you'll see where and how a lot of the initial system came together. One thing to note is that, through this process, much of the early structure was influenced/informed by the Prussian education system of the 18th and 19th centuries - which was not designed with industrial purposes. One critical key to noticing nuance and thinking in systems, is the ability to raise a red flag for questions whenever your brain hears something that sounds so nice that it's easy to accept with no questioning. "The [evil] education system was built to create compliant workers" may sound nice and exciting, but it's not an accurate description of the system. And further to that, which we saw with Rich, was undertones of hopelessness for change. This is exactly what people do when they don't understand a system or have the wrong mental model of the system. Godin, an expert systems thinker, quickly course corrected that when you do the work to understand the system, you know the parts, and therefore the "levers" of the solution appear. Systems and solutions can be complex - yes - but they don't need complicated.

    My husband doesn’t believe in global warming because he says that there’s to many people that benefit from scaring society into thinking that if the regular folk don’t change then we are all doom. He says that the people at the top are the ones that control the system. Also the Earth has changed many times in the millions of years. I told him I understand and I agree a bit. My opinion (I do believe that humans are causing the Earth to warm up and that why are seeing to many irregular storms) is regardless of global warming we still want clean air and clean water, and safe places to build our homes without worry of the next storm to destroy it. Also yes the Earth has changed but we are speeding up that science can’t catch up with it. I’m not going into panic tho because I’m useless that way! I’m putting my energy into holding big companies responsible, doing my part, and supporting people that are fighting for our future and our kids.

    I feel like its important to note that doing your best work doesn't mean you have to focus in on one thing and win a segment of the market. That's probably the best way to succeed financially, but I think it's also valuable to follow your passions and share your unique voice in order to connect with others. It might be one other person, might be thousands. We all have a unique voice / worldview / passions to develop and share, and if you do it for the joy of creation, expression, and connection then you can feel very fulfilled. This is definitely not get rich quick advice.

    gotta say, we have been selling energy cheaper than the actual cost SO THAT RICH PEOPLE CAN GET RICHER. They knew the cost for 60 years, they just wanted more money. The economic authoritarianism that is capitalism is the reason, not ignorance..

    LOL now that I know about ADD (and that I have ADD), it makes sense that Seth is (mildly) ADD, and gives me even more respect that he made the choice to become a meaningful specific vs. wandering generality. I really struggle with focusing exclusively on one thing because my interests are so diverse. I wish I could have Seth coach me, I know if I told him my story for 5 minutes, he’d have some reply that would make it all make sense! 😂

    I chuckled at your mutual distaste for the educational model in the US. While it's not perfect, the system that was designed to create "middle managers" has powered the most progressive century in human history. Maybe there's a better way but let's be "right sized" about where we are.

    These are the types of comments I would love to dive into because just that one act is beyond what 99.99 percent of people could achieve. How does something almost impossible "just" happen.
    BTW, loved this pod.

    Creating another source of income in these difficult times is the best thing to do. not only does it guarantee returns,it also helps you plan and save for future express it can be quite difficult to make an investment without sound knowledge or guidance, which is why it is adorable to work with an investment advisor

    OK - I rated this enough to send it both my busy kids - but one hour of leaf blower using as much fuel as driving a Toyota Camry from LA to NY- really??? Seth is going to feel pretty sheepish when he does the numbers. Just consider how many tanks the leaf blower will use in an hour (1, max 2). And how big the tank is: 1.5 L. Start the Camry with 1.5 (max 3) litres of fuel in the tank. Will you get further than the north-east suburbs of LA? Probably - and not much more. Apart from this piece of undermining silliness, the video is a pretty good recommendation for just about anybody - 🌼
