If you work retail you know the real problem is not self checkout ,stop the nonsense. Thief’s are walking out with unpaid merchandise no matter the reason, This is just another way to screw over paying customers who prefer using self checkout over a check stand .

how about you actually make laws that let criminals lose protections and security guards can use more force with impunity to help hold the criminals accountable shift power back into the people's hands who can help fight the crimes and enforce laws against the crimes. etc.
it has little to do with the self check outs more to do with lack of law enforcement capabilities. and the laws too much paralyze the justice seekers. the 'false imprisonment' law where holding down a criminal until police arrive is illegal, that should be abolished criminals should be able to be held down hand cuffed and secured until the cops arrive. should not be illegal. etc. there is many more examples.

I don't mind self check out, but it's this endless feeling that you are not trusted, the machine always stopping for the attendant to come over and restart the system, a camera looming over your head, etc etc...
I feel retailers can do this without this law in place if they want to prevent loss
Funny how their losses are self-reported and admittedly overstated by many CEO's but wage theft is easily over 10 billion on minimum wage violations alone.

They should keep some of them at least. My walmart has a few and they limit how many items (15) total and yes there is 2 people there who tell you wether u can or can't use them sometimes they let u with 20 or so items. And thats good I hate when people got their full groceries and using self check out taking their sweet ass time. Self check out should be a few items and be quick.

Self checkout is failing because stores ran it the wrong way. There should ALWAYS be someone there to monitor and help out when there is a problem. It's very frustrating when there a problem with a scanner and the "see attendant" signs pop up only there's no one in sight and you have to wait several minutes or even go and search to get someone's attention.
The root of the problem is self-checkout, so self-checkout should be held accountable.

Kind of the way San Francisco police refused to release surveillance footage of people robbing stores because "it would make people racist"
Mainly just closing stores in democratic cities where its ok to steal.
