  • In this video we shall be diagnosing and fixing a 2017 Ford Edge. The vehicle has a park brake malfunction warning and an inoperative park brake. Scanning the vehicle shows codes C1034 and C2008 but could easily have been c2007. This system (and fault) also applies to Ford Mondeo Mk5, Ford Fusion, Escape, Explorer and Kuga.

    Thank you for the step by step diagnostics on troubleshooting this problem. I just had the same issue with dash light on/codes on a 2017 Ford Edge AWD. Initial diagnosis revealed the driver's side harness broken. After some discussion, the customer decided to replace both sides as a preventive measure. I replaced both drivers & passenger side rear park brake actuator harnesses. The part # for drivers side harness is: H2GZ-14A411-A, US price was $43.83 from Ford dealer parts dept. Passenger side harness part #: H2GZ- 14A411-B, US price $47.33 Great video, just posting part/price info for US viewers asking for part numbers. Thanks again for taking the time to make this video.

    The good old Green crusties Steve , it's a good job we dont live in the salt belt area of the USA if that's what happens here , modern junk is coming out of factories over here , with parts that are not up to the longevity required from the public , it's ok if it's under warranty, but many will have to pay for the repairs , great video 👍👍👍

    My stepdad had the parking brake issue on his 2017 Edge.. Watched your video because it matched the symptoms that he described. Low and behold, once we isolated which side was the problem, we followed the trouble shooting you demonstrated and it showed the harness to be bad on the LR. Untaped and unloomed the harness, and sure enough there was a small break in the wire due to corrosion. We were able to repair it and it fixed the problem. Thank you for the very informative video. If you could show or post the part number(s) for what you replace, these videos will be even more invaluable than they are now. Thanks again

    so the solution , more permanent is to stop the corrosion , this is where dielectric grease comes in , you place some in the harness clips and that impedes water from getting in and causing corrosion. Its not a permanent solution but better than just a replacement.

    Always keep your car clean don't let all that road salt and dirt and grime pile up on your electronics. There's only so much the connectors can keep out with those little rubber seals!

    • @keltecfan
      @keltecfan Před rokem

      The vehicle that I just repaired was very clean all over, especially the underside. It was a 2017 Edge Titanium AWD with 140,000 miles. I found the wire broken in the bend, where it flexed the most due to the travel of suspension. Keeping the car clean underneath may help, but my guess is that they'll eventually break due to the flexing from suspension travel.

    Very interesting to see that corroded wires seem to be so common fault source.

    • @sitdox
      @sitdox Před 2 lety

      It’s too often corroded wire across all brands either cheap plastic insulation or poor quality thousands times recycled copper metal
      For example take wiring from old cars insulation cracked perished but wire itself gone dark but still solid
      Same with the steel seen two year old car with subframe rotted through that does say a lot about todays carmakers

      @Seii-FPV in the UK the ford part number on a 2018 Edge for the left hand harness is 2172262 and the right hand harness is 2172274. Im afraid though that in other markets Ford use different part numbers . The engineering numbers are H2GT-2B54-AA & H2GT-2B54-BA these may help

    Currently in the middle of woods hiking when this malfunction message popped up. Parked on a dirt hill, engaged the parking break. It took multiple tries hitting the parking break switch to get the brakes to release. Thought I was gonna have to get a tow truck to come out in the woods.. hopefully I’m having the same issue with a broken wire. Not sure how the parking brake would release if the connection is broken?
