    UPDATE: For linux lovers and fedora fans out there, I just saw qFlipper available in the fedora repositories!
    I got my Flipper Zero about a month ago and I've had a chance to play around with it a bit. I like the idea, but I've had a hard time finding daily use cases for my new friend! Is the Flipper Zero right for you?

    I have NFC in my headphones, it triggers pairing/connection on tap. So.. I made one for my car as well, tap my phone and it pairs my phone to the vehicle and sets a few modes. I added a tag to my handbag as well, tap my phone and it pairs to a set of BT earbuds.

    • @rad_linux
      @rad_linux  Před rokem +4

      Its really hard since the flipper zero is kind of nebulous. There are plenty of videos showing simple use cases, but the problem is that the flipper is basically hackable hardware and so the possibilities are endless! I have a couple videos about some of the features, but there isn't even documentation on a ton of the things the flipper can do.

    So what would you recommend in terms of how you approached learning the device once you had it in hand?

    • @rad_linux
      @rad_linux  Před 2 lety +4

      Honestly its been a bunch of experimentation and hours of research. I would say look things up a lot, and then look them up again. Check out the Discord, though I admittedly haven't used that as a resource too much. Check out the various github repositories that have different things already captured or scripted. Don't just use them aimlessly, try to understand what they are doing and why. If you aren't already familiar with basic programming concepts, this is probably the time to check them out. Try looking up what things like GPIO pins are and why you might need them. I definitely recommend watching things like defcon talks here on youtube. They talk about a lot of concepts that the Flipper also hits.
      Like, I accidentally fell across the flipper CLI when trying to understand how the USB to UART bridge worked because its not really documented well. Its definitely about experimentation

      thats just not true. The flipper offers a host of features that go well beyond emulation. The creative uses of the GPIO, applications API, and tools like bad USB are just a few of the things it can do beyond emulation. Thats just what the most popular youtube and tiktok videos focus on because it catches eyes. The flipper is a full featured hacking device.

      I didn't explain it as well as I could have. But i believe there are regional firmware locks. So if you get a US variant, or an EU variant, etc. it will allow or disallow certain signals as required by the FCC or whatever. There are some firmware forks that are working to eliminate those barriers to the robust experience flipper zero can offer.
