I have also the same unit, except I don't have a grill on the side of the unit. Where is the air filter?

Did you notice if just using the fan setting by itself caused air to push through the exhaust hose?
No that hose is just for the condensation drain

You don’t have to add water?
No, but make sure if you use this to have a larger drain pan than I showed, I’ve started using it more and a large drain pan attached helps regulate the output of water from the unit
