Thanks, Sarge, first for your service. For the likes of me, I could not ask you or other troops to put themselves into harm's way for the likes of me. So I am grateful for your service. And also grateful for your efforts teaching us viewers in a good way. Best to you and yours.
You are truly talented!!! I have had contractors destroy and steal on my bathroom remodel, so I am going to do the job myself. I found your videos and could not let them go. You are an awesome teacher! I am having to remove a fiberglass (extremely old) wall and replace it with tile. I am also adding a new faucet and shower head. This is completely out of my lane, but good contractors seem to be hard to find or too costly. Thank you again!!!
100% agree. You are either being over charged or get a shotty job many times.
Dude , you deserve so many more subs . Your videos have got to be some of the most accurate, knowledgeable , and adequate amount of knowledge someone will need to do this. God bless
Love the marble subway tile. So elegant and timeless
What a wonderful teacher you are!
Excellent videos! Great information and your camera work is terrific - stable, in-focus. well lit, perfect! So many how-to videos out there induce motion sickness but yours are a pleasure to watch. Thank you.
Blaine Plester Thanks for the kind words!
Thank you, I'm going to attempt this for the first time! God Bless!
You're doing a great job with these videos, I didn't mean to stay and watch so many, but it couldn't be helped.
Awesome job, I love the marble subway tile too. I'm going to look for it.
nice detail on the front edge. this is probably one of the most visible elements that people will be seeing for years (as they sit nearby). Great work and thanks for sharing.
timber_beast That’s funny! I know exactly what you mean.
Aren't you supposed to fill the bath with water before sealing round the bath ? The bath drops slightly with the extra weight and can make the sealant come away .
This little czcams.com/users/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.
Very informative- inspired to give it a try myself!
make more videos about tile, Very helpful. thank you by the way.
Semper Fi Brother! Great video Sir!

Mat Hawkins There was a lot of shine happening there. :)
Nice job!
This is great! Thanks!
Thank you for your Service n Great Video
Superman Sixty9 thanks!
Great video
Thanks for the video! Question about sealing. We are using a marble tile. You said to seal before we grout. How long do we have to wait after putting the tile up? Should the mortar be dry? Also, after we grout how quickly can we seal the grout? Thanks again!
Semper Fi Devil Dog... Great tile "dog and pony". I'm looking to diy my bathrooms. Keep up the great work
Semper Fi... Thanks!
Good job
Just found your channel and am delighted. Thank you!
Just one question-what are those magical spacer/levelers you used between the tiles???? I definitely need those in my tiling life! (Also as the wife of a former Marine, Semper Fi, sir. And thank you for your service!)
instaBlaster.
Tks. Very Helpful
Amazing work! Were the green spacers for the vertical grout joins? And was your marble tile honed or polished? I was looking into the ultra color plus fa grout but was scared it might scratch my tile
I love the tape before caulking. I would have never though of that.
Nice video!
great video.... What is a good leveler to use?.... What do you use?
Thanks...
Hoorah! Thx.
Hello SgtDonovan! My bathroom tub has only painted drywall surrounding it and I have to always be on the alert to prevent the kids from splashing water on it and ruining the walls! I don't know why tile was not put in at the time of the build but I know I need to tile. I do not know if I can tile right on the painted drywall or should I prep it first and if so, with what? Your video is so informative and concise but before I can follow along, I need to get this first step/question answered. I appreciate any advise, direction you give me. Thank you in advance!! :-)
Thank you.
You have just Inspired me to do my own tile.tub after quotes like $900-$1,000.00
I thank you form th bottom of my heart
Oh and my laser light from Amazon is the best. 💪🏾
900-1000 is a good quote ....basic tile installation is about 1200 for labor only
Question - the back wall behind my tub....the center is 1/8 inch higher than it is on the ends. So if I leave 1/8th for grout and try to do full tile at the top...my gap will be about 1/4 in the center. Does this mean i need to rip/shave these top tiles to make it a tighter fit? Hope that makes sense. Thanks.
nice job semper fi
Did you wait for the tile to dry before you did the top half? Or you can do the whole thing at once?
Between your Video How to waterproof cement board and this video, it seems you added thin-set just above the tub flange. Why? Is this since the backboard comes out farther than the flange and you have to "fill the gap" do the tile is level on the first row?
Nice.
Hello Donovan, more or less how long would it take to do this renovation if it’s your only priority? have to do our shower/bathroom and only have one bathroom in the condo 😬😬
What did you use between tile wall and the shiplap
Is there a best way, between tiling one wall first all the way up (as in the video) vs doing a row all the way around then moving up? I’ve seen people say both ways are best… but why? Personal preference?
4:19 I’m trying to Install subway tile but i am having issues mapping it out. I only have to do 2 walls around a jetted tub. The walls are not fully straight. What do you mean by do the back wall first? How can I make that corner look aesthetically pleasing?
Whats the name of the tile that you used for this shower?
If your mortar begins to dry you can remix it without adding water to get a couple more minutes
What’s the link to get the pvc molding ??
What is a grout caulk is this just bathroom caulk?
What did you use for and edge/ transitions from the tile to the ship lap?
Versatex PVC trim
So, if you are just adding tile around an existing tub, you don’t need any special type of water barrier?
What kind of spacers are the green ones?
What is the white coating on the flange of your tub over the waterproof coating? That appeared after your waterproofing video. Is it necessary?
Wondering the same thing. I am about to this step and need to know.
It is thinset. If I ever have thinset left in my bucket I’ll use it to fill in any low spots just to help flatten the surface.
SgtDonovan thanks!
At what point did you install your edging??? I didn't see it in the video. Did I miss it? In every video I watch they skip that step.
What is this profession called? Eye think eye would be very interested in learning
Does caulking or grout go around the floor of the tub and ceramic floor tiles?
The outside of tub between the ceramic floor and tub is this grout or caulk?
My question is...do I start the bottom row of tile over the lip of the tub??? I think that i would.
the video made it seem like you mixed mortar once at the start and did the entire shower. was that the case or did you mix several batches of mortar along the way?
jeff longino several
@@SgtDonovan suppose you wall its not plumb
Follow tge same procedure like how u do
Gorgeous!! 😍
Thanks!
What kind of trim did you use for the stuff going along shiplap?
I’d like to know as well. It’s a good look.
If you are talking about the trim between the shiplap and the bathtub tile it is Versatex trim I use to trim hardieboard siding. It's a pvc product and completely waterproof. I used a couple strips that were leftover from boards I ripped when doing siding.
@@SgtDonovan Do you install the trim after you tile the side wall, or before and use it as a guide?
did I hear you correctly say grout caulk for top and corners? or just caulk? I never heard of grout caulk but I'm just an amateur.
It is a caulk made to match specific grout colors and sanded or unsanded grout. It’s usually next to the grout at most stores.
OK, gracias vigilant one. I was also an
e-5 ,though this is neither our's claim to fame. I'm a professional amateur delving into the unknown. Thanks.
Did you use a juice jug????
Hey, what’s the name of that tile?
seems like the 3x6 subway marble tile with a satin finish. like this one www.homedepot.com/p/MSI-Arabescato-Carrara-Beveled-3-in-x-6-in-Honed-Marble-Floor-and-Wall-Tile-1-sq-ft-case-TARACAR36H/206873875
I have the same for my kitchen. issue with this is that there is a lot of variation in color and pattern and it can be very different between batches. so you might need to mix them up before tiling so the variations will look nice and random.
But what happens if your ceiling isn’t level?
do you vertical level the tiles?
Mega 😁👣
Where do I find the link to the level?
See the link right under his picture called PRODUCT MENTIONED.
I didn't see you check that the tiles were plum to one another once. And it didn't look like the tiles were plum to one another as a result. Some people like this look though, was this intentional? The grout lines could have been a lot more consistent if you had. Again, maybe that's what the customer wanted.
Can we install the tile on sheetrock?
Sure can!!
Have to water proof
You didn't say anything about notch size
I need mine retiled. Anybody in little rock AR No how. 600 dollars
wow that bath is tiny!
You forgot a shower niche.
Struggling to understand why a laser is a must when you are just leveling the tiles up from the level of the bath? Seemed pointless to me.
MJ12 it isn’t a must to tile a bathtub shower... however, to me the value it adds is greater than its cost.
Because the tub isn’t level. He has used wedge spacers pushed in at the depth necessary to lift each tile the appropriate height to reach the laser level line.
