"Striking Aerion down.." has to be the most understated way of describing the beatdown Ser Duncan laid on his ass that day.
Been a while since I read the story but if I remember he knocked him spark out.
Dunk punched his face, causing him to fall to the ground. Aerion reaches for his dagger but Dunk stepped on his hand and kicked him in the chest.
@@17Watman I thought it was the face. Aerion says something about knocking one of his teeth loose with the kick after he has the guards holding Dunk down.
Talentless, classless, and arrogant with the only thing going for him being winning the genetic lottery at birth. Aerion would have had a long career as a politician in the US.

Dunk is seriously my fucking FAVORITE character in ASOIAF. Hes so freaking honorable and humble. Hes just... god so amazing.
He is also a bit of a badass he killed a blackfire in single combat beat the laughing storm in trial by combat killed black Tom while he was injured beat luthor Long inch after almost drowning and took a lance to the face oh and he lived through one of the only two trials by combat in the entire history of asoiaf

If Hodor is a descendant of Duncan the Tall then another sad thing is like Duncan he died protecting the ones he cared for.

@@91YEHNAH Yeah, in 2016 at Balticon. It's semi-canon. Brienne remembers seeing Dunk's shield when she was little, and had hers repainted as such in Duskendale.

In A Feast For Crows, Brienne, Brings up that she will her shield repainted.. and that she ran over fingers over the oak tree and shooting star. This is most likely referring to Duncan's Shield. I dont know that Hodor is NOT Ser Duncan's bloodline, but its definitely hinted that Brienne is.

Yeah, apart from the spin-off books, many want also a spin-off series involving Dunk and Egg... But Martin doesn't want to do it yet, as he wants to finish writting the stories first before adapting them to TV... So maybe 10 years from now we will see it XDD

I think that everything we've read in the books comes from the meeting of Dunk and Egg. The World of Ice and Fire reveals to us that Aegon V Targaryen met his wife, Lady Betha Blackwood, during his travels with Ser Duncan the Tall. So if Dunk and Egg had never met, probably the future king would had married another woman, and none of his descendants, Jaheaerys II and his wife-sister Shaera, Aerys II the Mad King and his sister-queen Rhaella, Rhaegar, Viserys, Daenerys and Jon Snow, would have ever come to the world. Neither the Baratheon brothers, whose paternal grandmother was the daughter of King Aegon V. Furthermore, that book reveals to us that the lady that he helped in the second story, Rohanne Webber, was the future lady of Casterly Rock and grandmother of lord Tywin and of his cousin and wife, lady Johanna Lannister. So, probably, even them, Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei (whoever is their father: Aerys or Tywin) and their children owe their existence to him. The same goes for the young Starks because, without Rhaegar and Aerys, their parents Ned and Catelyn would never have married.

Davide Ferrari Aegon V would never have become King. He was nicknamed Aegon the Unlikely for being the 4th son of the 4th son of the King. But whole branches of the Targaryen house were wiped out by a really bad disease outbreak, others took the Black, and of course one of his older brothers killed the other (during Duncan’s trial) so little Egg ended up king
Prequels HBO need to do: Dunk and Egg, Roberts Rebellion, Aegon's conquest and the origin of the faceless men
And don't forget Dance of the Dragons, but the budget will be wow for cgi.

Prince Aerion wasn’t afraid of Dunk fighting in a trial by combat. Aerion knew that he didn’t actually have to fight Dunk himself and that one of his Kingsguard could act as his champion. However, he was always a madly overblown eccentric that just wanted to make things difficult and try to humiliate Dunk. Aerion thought that by changing it to a Trial of Seven, he could prove that Dunk had no actual friends that would stand with him and that Dunk would be a laughing stock before they took off his hand.
Yeah this is true. And I do agree. BUT, after the asswhooping Dunk put on him, probably also was also a bit nervous of facing him one on one. After all, Dunk is 7 freaking feet tall, and he already felt how strong he was. I have no doubt that Aerion wanted to make a spectacle out of it and humiliate Dunk before chopping his hand off, but it's also pretty obvious that Aerion was a punk and afraid to fight Dunk alone.
Ser Duncan the Tall has one of THE BEST stories I have ever read.

do you know where did he find the informations from the 7:44 until the end of the video? i mean, the book about Ser Duncan The Tall i read, didnt mention any of these. it stopped after Ser Duncan stopped the Blackfire rebellion before even started in whitewalls.

That fight is just one reason HBO should do this as a spin-off. The trial of seven would be awesome to see as well.

Like most GRRM "confirmations" his choice of wording is extremely ambiguous and further confirmation is 3rd party sources / Chinese whispers. I'd put this is the bin of probably, but may never get a confirmation.
Yeah, with the amount of vague confirmations GRRM has given, it's pretty much "semi-canon".

Musa Altáriel Duncan relied on his strength a lot. He wasn’t that skilled with a sword during the time of the “knight of seven kingdoms” timeline. So I don’t think Duncan would stand much of a chance with the mountain since he had more skills than just brute strength.
Have just listened to the first two D&E books. Dunk is now my favourite character.
I wish to see a film 🎬 or TV 📺 series on Dunk and Egg.

I loved Dunk and Egg's stories. Bitesized and wholesome but still with all the fantasy and political trappings of GRRM's work. Egg is just a hilarious character and the perfect foil for Ser Dunk, he's very witty and incredibly smart for his age. My favourite bits is the catchphrase "get him, he's right there!"

Everything is great but for the fact that Aegon wasn't beloved, at least not by the nobility, and the tragedy of Summerhall was caused by his (Aegon's) obsession with hatching dragons to control his vassals with greater ease, but this is a video about Duncan not Aegon, love all your work btw
Angel F. Castillo Aegon wasn't loved by the nobility because Aegon was so generous to the poor. Also it is believed that the tragedy at Summerhall was due to the Maesters at the Citadel fearing a second coming of the dragons.

Not that it matters on a 5+ year old video, but just a small error I saw, Prince Aerion isn’t the eldest of Maekar’s sons, but the second oldest. Daeron (the Drunken) was the eldest and original heir, much to Maekar’s disappointment

Dunk's really is really unfortunate.
Aegon the 5th was now wholly loved during his reign. The common folk loved Aegon for sure. But a lot of nobles hated him due to the reforms Aegon put out that curbed the nobles' power.
