Sofi and other innovative stocks are good stocks but the problem arises when the media hype comes well before the real business results. No one is happy to see a stock going -30/40%, no matter the good potentials.

That's my base for the long term as well. And then a few K more that I use more actively - sell on a spike, buy back on a dip, as we've all seen the stupid pattern around earnings...

I sold a lot of my Sofi position over a year ago, when "higher for longer" started looking likely. Sofi is one of those stocks like Upstart and Lemonade, whose stock price depends a lot on interest rates. They're early-stage companies whose time may come in the 2030's. I still hold a small long-term position in each of them. This continues to be a market that prefers profits now rather than in the future.

i was divided on Friday whether to buy some Upstart or Sofi. Sofi is a bigger position in my portfolio and I'm breakeven while I'm -63% with Upstart. I bought a few Upstart shares but I'm still not sure which one is the better investment at this stage.
When rally comes, Upstart will gain more. But fundamental wise SoFi is better

@geolykos I don't say Upstart is undervalued. It's more like their business might gain more momentum when rate cuts. At the moment a lot of fintech as loan partners still have challenges selling loan to banks.

@@CouchInvestor Can you please double check that? I’m pretty sure it’s a basic personal (not business) savings account and a basic personal (not business) checking account. For example you can open an account in your name but if you have a business (like a LLC) you are unable to open this with Sofi.
SoFi only has 40% institutional ownership. Retail investors think so short term, that it's not surprising to see a mismatch between stock and company projections. These are the opportunities I love. Technical's have a pretty obvious descending triangle. It will be interesting if it breaks high or low. Unfortunately, my position is pretty full already if it breaks low.

I agree with your commentary on "lack of innovation." SOFI's management team has successfully maneuvered through a few years of significant challenges. Now they're profitable. Lots to be positive about, as a long-term investor. I think we'll see SOFI bring future innovations from the back end to the front end when the time is right.

Bought the stock before of Anthony Noto. SoFi's UI needs an update, I have been using it for a couple years now and it could be improved.

I’m taking the long game on this stock.
Why is it sometimes so hard to analyze a company? For example I am looking for some time already into Intuitive Machines, and despite not too bad of company data, I am still not convinced about the company growth in next 1-3 years, and the stock seems to be a mess too... Some analysis from somebody else would be great. Maybe even Couch Investor would be interested himself?
Easy answer, if you don't get it, don't buy it. Plenty of other companies out there ;) I also had this with many companies

Simple problem is a bank and people needs a bank but already have a bank especially when you have big money. Online bank will be just nish and Soupifi is already priced as big nish bank the tech story that's just gimmikifi not to mention the spac side.

Every SoFI rally gets sold off. The most hated stock on Wall Street. We can say this stock is undervalued in the short term when it’s done nothing but go down for 4 years.

I would say PYPL is more undervalued just because it has an established positive gap EPS but still trades sub 15 PE and grows their revenues and net margins 7-9%
We can only go up from here!! 7 is the bottom for the stock!! Nvidia didn't do anything for a decade patience!! If it's still in the 7s in two years when they are making 0.50 to 0.80, I would be shocked 😲

I doubt people with a lot credit card debt have a high enough credit score to get a personal loan from Sofi, just saying people that are generally bad with money are….bad with money
They can just write it off…that’s what the massive banks do.
High FICO score
You can easily have a high fico score and have a lot of credit card debt. Also a high fico score is good until it’s not. People can get laid off and start missing payments it doesn’t take much. I am invested in sofi but these are serious risks. Personal loans are very risky for banks especially with no collateral. Why would someone with a high fico score need a personal loan? Most likely to pay off credit card debt
yes I agree....folks are gonna take out all types of loans but when uncle sam says pay back student loans and there are less desireable jobenomics bidenomics inflation stimulation....watch out! get the stimmy checks ready on standby!
